Hong Kong sportspeople[edit]

As I saw it, the results were as follows:

  • Alai: upmerge
  • Instantnood: keep
  • Privacy: keep
  • Grutness: upmerge

Yes, that does seem to indicate a tie, but I took into account the fact that I know Alai and Grutness have been involved a lot more/longer than the other two. To be honest, I had never seen you or Privacy before today. So, I guess you could say that I weighted the experienced people's votes a little more. Also, in general I take into account which side I think has the better argument. A lot of simple "keep" votes isn't going to outweigh a few well-explained "oppose" votes. Grutness's point was particularly compelling because he cited Generally Accepted Stub-Sorting Policy in that a stub category should have at least 60-65 stubs in it. If the category doesn't have that many stubs, it either shouldn't be created or it should be deleted. Finally, I took into account my own personal feelings and I felt that an upmerge should be the way to go. I probably should make a little note when I'm closing them to add my opinions so that they are more clear.

Thanks for asking for clarification and I hope I was able to address your concerns. Let me know if you have any more questions. Have a great day and happy editing! ~ Amalas rawr =^_^= 20:31, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • As far as to where it should be upmerged, I couldn't figure that out. The proposal was for China, but I personally think that Asia might be better, using the Kosovo- as an example. It's up to you, really. ~ Amalas rawr =^_^= 20:33, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Macao/Macau[edit]

Obviously Wikipedia should reflect both usages a) in contexts where there's "space" to include both, such as in articles, and on category spaces, b) in reporting original spelling faithfully in names involving same, and c) in having redirects from "the other" spelling. But for categories and template texts, where a single name needs to be chosen, a degree of consistency is highly desirable. Alai 21:00, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

WMHK en Biweekly Meetups[edit]

Sorry to reply you Sooooooooooo late..... Anyway, it's really hard to say when would it be convenient to contact me, becoz my schedule is pretty nasty :P. Anyway, I USUALLY (*not always*) free in the afternoon & evening of weekends. In fact you may call me any time. Coz My mobile is always on, & I've the habit to check my voicemail en call back. Just leave your phone no. if your call is diverted to my voicemail box.

One more thing, not so serious. Some Chinese Wikipedians in Hong Kong (*I'm one of them*) have launched a regular meetup for all hongkongais(e) in Wikipedia. Currently, it occurs biweekly, en the time is at 7pm, Saturday. It's a pity that in the previous two meetups, only some nominal En WPians (*like me*) turned up. I'm confirming the details of coming one the 28th, with another guy, whom you may know, Encyclopedist. I'm wondering if I just post the relevant info on the HKer-NoticeBoard, or also need to translate the whole stuff from Zhwikip to Enwikip. Anyway, I can only do these after we firmed everything of the coming one. Last one, maybe I need your help, when we're going to organize the Seasonal HK wikipedian Meetup, Autumn 2006. So keep in touch. --JéRRy.雨雨.talk.hk 17:17, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, just thought that I'd let you know that I modified your edit slightly to shorten the word "history" down to "hist." and also changed the code so that it'd only appear in plain mode. When the template displays "This box:" and then the link "hist." at the end it tends to negatively affect tall navigation template (ie: Template:Islam) by widening them. This is why I've altered the code to only display the "hist." link in plain mode (for example the political template on Politics of Angola, etc. ). Hope you don't mind. Thanks. (Netscott) 00:33, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One other thing: you might be interested in utilizing/editing Template:Tnavbar-mini-all. Cheers. (Netscott) 00:49, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Instantnood,

(moved Template:Infobox Country or territory to Template:Infobox Country...

Unfortunately use of this template is not limited to countries, so suggest "Country or territory" more useful/accurate. Regards, David Kernow (talk) 22:21, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kalgoorlie question[edit]

I think it might go un-noticed - it might be worth actually going to those specific arts - ie Sydney/Melbourne and asking there on the talk pages - List of cities by area is a bit of an outer limb of the galaxy sort of area compared to the specific articles, I think.SatuSuro 15:23, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cocos and Christmas - tricky one - really under commonwealth jurisdiction with the states "helping out" - but as external territories they are not part of any state or other territory. SatuSuro 15:49, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

TVB Category Clash[edit]

Hello, Instantnood. There are two categories: Category:Drama episodes of TVB and Category:TVB Episodic Drama. I also understand that there was a discussion put up one year ago in here. What do you decide? Can we merge them by means of redirecting the smaller one to the bigger one?--Tdxiang 03:51, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reincluding history[edit]

Greetings Instanood, I was thinking about the history link on Tnavbar and an idea came to me. Why not make it an optional choice? The default would be no history link but if one were to add hist=1 into the template call the history would show. If that sounds good to you maybe you might like to work on it or we could work together on it. I actually like the history idea but I just don't like it for general usage. What do you think? Huaiweis insults.[edit]

I realize you are not the most unbiased person on this topic ;), but I would appreciate it if somebody else then me asks Huaiwei to stop his insulting me and discuss seriously on hos talk-page: User_talk:Huaiwei#Your_insults.. If two people do it he will have to stop (because otherwise I can go forward with an Rfc). Thanks. --Regebro 18:03, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning of edit warring in China-related articles[edit]

I have noticed that you and User:Huaiwei have resumed your old edit wars, please be warned that if this edit behavior continues that you may get yourself blocked, thanks. --WinHunter (talk) 14:42, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder when will this edit war stop, it is almost two years since it started. Stop edit warring be at peace for one week. Terence Ong 14:54, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Instantnood,
Just to let you know I've restored the previous name for this template as although "countries" may not necessarily be sovereign states, there are areas that are not commonly described as "countries" whose articles use the template. Hong Kong and Maca[o/u] are two that come to mind!  Best wishes, David Kernow (talk) 22:48, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RFM[edit]

A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request here, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible. WikieZach| talk 02:36, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It would be great if you could indicate if you agree to mediation or not, so we can get this over with. --Regebro 10:55, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not to pry but....[edit]

...you'd think after countless RfC's and three arbitrations you'd figure out a way to edit without causing controversy or infuriating people. Might I suggest taking up another hobby in editing topics on Wikipedia? --ElaragirlTalk|Count 03:37, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:AE, I have blocked you for 24 hours and also have put you on a 1-revert per article per day term. —— Eagle (ask me for help) 00:29, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mediation of single-party state[edit]

Hi there, I've taken the mediation case for single-party state for the mediation committee. Please go here to start the mediation. Thanks. —Xyrael / 15:42, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please stop changing the references to Taiwan and Republic of China in Taiwan airport articles. There is nothing wrong to reference Taiwan Province as Taiwan as Taiwan is the most common usage. Also, I believe you have mistakenly took some reference to "Taiwan" as a place from "Taiwan" as a political entity. --Will74205 00:34, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
