Hi, the changes you are making are well intentioned but please make sure you are improving things. Changing "Sydney FC" to "Sydney" or "Tokyo FC" to "Tokyo" is not helpful as there are many teams in Sydney and Tokyo, so removing the full club name makes the listing less accurate and more confusing. Adding the UN or EU flag to unattached players is not at all relevant, please do not do it under any circumstances. Camw (talk) 23:32, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Kenan Handžić[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Kenan Handžić has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league, meaning he also fails WP:NSPORT.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. June 2013[edit]

Hello Intruder007, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your addition to File:Diego-reyes.jpg has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 21:23, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Nicknames[edit]

Players known by his nickname should contain only the name, no surname or full name appears.--Gringoladomenega (talk) 19 April 2014 (UTC)

Give me a good reason for that.
It's actually common practice. Many Brazilian players have an article at their full name but only use their piped, single name in rosters. Camilo Sanvezzo is one that comes to mind during his time in Vancouver. I don't think there's a MoS on this, it's simply common practice, and certainly not worth edit warring over. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:45, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
However, the nickname should be supported at the subject's article or somewhere in the club article. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:49, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
It is common in Portuguese-speaking languages (specially because sometimes they have quite large names, FE: Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima) and fairly common in Spain, not that much outside of those places, at least not that much in official lists. Personally they tend to look ridiculous but okay, If there's some sort of consensus, I'll stop fighting that.

April 2014[edit]

You made two reverts are in no way in danger of break 3RR. I came here to inform you that User:Gringoladomenega has been reported for edit warring at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring and your input on that case or any other would be appreciated. Cavs-Hornets trade[edit]

Hi. That Cavs-Hornets trade has not been completed / made official and won't be until July 10. If you read this again, it states "Report: Hornets send Powell, Haywood to Cavs" and "A person familiar with the deal says". This is not an official press release – this is NBA.com copying an Associated Press article. The trade will happen, just wait. Cheers. DaHuzyBru (talk) 17:45, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Bosnia and Herzegovina football edits[edit]

Hello there. Since a few years ago I've started to edit the football pages of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the rescent time though, everytime I edit, you are deleting it and rewriting the "old" style. I have only one question and thats why you are doing this? (talk) 21 August 2014 (UTC)

If it wasn't for me then the page wouldn't even be half as good and interesting to read. I beg you please to stop deleting my edits or I will take this with someone who can stop you from edit again on severeal pages at Wikipedia. Thank you. (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.112.123.66 (talk) 22:06, 20 August 2014 (UTC) I'm going to assume you are talking about the players list. The only thing I'm asking is that if you are going to update the list, put a source to back up the change, just that, otherwise, it could be assumed it's someone vandalizing the page.Intruder007 (talk) 22:19, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

NBA signings[edit]

Hello- per WP:NBA free agent signings need to either be announced by the team or added to their official roster before changing the teams on WP. Otherwise the deal isn't official. Please wait until the team announces a signing, Wikipedia isn't a newspaper and doesn't need to break the news before it is official and some deals never materialize at all. Thanks for your patience and understanding in this. Rikster2 (talk) 05:05, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

Monaco flag[edit]

Hi, It has come to my attention that you have change flag for AS Monaco players from france to monaco. Please do not to that, this has been dicussed several times and AS Monaco plays in france football association and represents france in international competition such as Champions League and are therfore considered a french team and they should have flag of france. You dont see catalan flag for every player from barcelona, it is same principle. Please read Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Monaco country flag as example and there are more discussions if needed. Thank you. QED237 (talk) 22:31, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
