I wanted to ask something about Justin Beiber

But his page is locked! The lock said it would end on June, but why is it locked even thought no one is attacking him?184.98.114.65 (talk) 01:32, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Well if an IP makes a request for an edit, any edit, you can copy it straight into the article so long as it's not vandalism, if it is something outrageous like a slanderous comment about the Bieb, then don't worry about it if you don't know. But anything else, doesn't make any difference what it is really, you can put it in with the edit summary 'edit request, see talkpage' or something like that. They can do all the discussion on the talkpage with other editors by themself. You two would make a great team ! Penyulap 06:11, 27 Jul 2012 (UTC)

Hi Jaguar

It is very good to see you back here again. Penyulap 19:46, 26 Jul 2012 (UTC)

Thank you very much Penyulap! I'm happy to see that your welcome was a bit more welcoming, unlike others... Jaguar 20:26, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, they're making more big macs now, new templates to help fake sincerity on a wider scale. What can possibly go wrong with such a genius plan. I always prefer home cooking, but then again, that is the single best way that people lure me to their homes, the food. I never knew that 'with all due respect' had negative connotations, I did know that 'have a nice day' can be taken the wrong way, but it's apparently the only way that people in the US say it, as a complete f off, I can't see the difference with a template. Just defeats the entire purpose. Penyulap 20:52, 26 Jul 2012 (UTC)
What the!?!?!?! Sorry but I have just given you the completely wrong link!!! I don't know how the hell that just happened!? I'll give you the right link in a sec! Jaguar 20:54, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Here it is now. Not a very nice way to approach someone is it? Jaguar 20:56, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Well I initially just looked at your language which spoke louder than the diff.
You're looking for the word "hastily" rather than "illegally" and thumperward is in the same boat as you searching for the right words. He is looking for the word "newbie" rather than "silly". A surprising number of editors make the assumption that all new users are knuckle dragging mouth breathers :) don't worry about it. Penyulap 06:07, 27 Jul 2012 (UTC)

WP:ANI on mass stub creation

Please note that I alerted the community that you continued the mass creation of stubs. Whereas it might very well be that the new stub generation is perfectly fine (note though that linking to a redirect is best to be avoided), I think it is good if the community is alerted, and you should obviously know of the potential discussion. Best luck.--Ymblanter (talk) 12:02, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

I don't want this turning into a bloodbath again. I have explained everything and hopefully that should be that. Jaguar 14:58, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Your comment above...

...about "being good with a sniper rifle"... Perhaps I'm missing something, but to me that sounds very much like a threat of some kind. Care to explain? Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 15:08, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

It's a joke towards Justin Bieber... Jaguar 15:08, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
An unfortunate joke in poor taste then... Sorry, I guess I think that there are too many people actually getting shot and killed in this world. That type of comment is definitely not something I would post on Wikipedia, even as a "joke" on my own talk page, but as the saying goes "your mileage may vary/YMMV". Shearonink (talk) 15:26, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Sorry. Do you want me to remove the comment? Jaguar 15:28, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

A new direction

Hi Jaguar. How are you? Maybe I can help. There are a lot of other things you can do here that are really fun, needed, and appreciated. You may become a great asset to Wikipedia, but not with the stubs. That's a waste of your energy and talent.

So, how about something else? What do you like in life? What do you find really interesting? Those answers can point you in the right direction here at Wikipedia. If you want, let me know, and I can help. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:21, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi, thank you very much for your help! I am just really upset and annoyed that everybody at ANI is always ganging up on people and that it would always end up with me getting in a lot of trouble. It's just that I wanted to be someone on Wikipedia and make myself known - I know that it sounds really stupid but it is what I had tried to do this year... I thought I could do this by creating 10,000 articles, by improving Wikipedia, but it was wrong.
I am interested in English villages I think... I nominated one village for GA four times and failed, but if it wasn't for Dr. Blofeld who revolutionised the article it wouldn't be where it is now. I nominated John Major for GA... and that's it... That's what I find interesting, but I'm just not good at Wikipedia. Regards Jaguar 21:43, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Well, if you can write GA, even in collaboration, it means you are good enough. It is just matter of finding a good place, where you work is appreciated. Did you try one of the WikiProjects, for instance? I am sure many of them have plenty of suggestions and would welcome any help, and they can also help you with advise.--Ymblanter (talk) 21:57, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Yes I am a member of a few WikiProjects... I started the project WP:WILTS back in September 2010... Nearly all of the projects I am a member of are inactive, but to be honest I had nominated articles for GA, and failed nearly all of them. I had only passed two of them thanks to help from other editors and even the only two articles I had passed had failed before! I am an alright copy editor, but very undermined from other editors who are better than me of course! I had only just turned 16! Jaguar 22:05, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
It is difficult for me to estimate who active WP:WILTS now is, but if it is not, did you try for instance WikiProject United Kingdom? This one seems to be active, and they should have a lot of experience with villages.--Ymblanter (talk) 22:13, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I think I'll try that. I need to concentrate on getting John Major to GA first, and then I'll see what I can do from now on... although creating nearly 10,000 articles required no skill, I was good at it. Jaguar 22:17, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
The problem is that those particular 10K articles you have chosen to create did require skill - in this case, some command of written Chinese (and some other languages for other articles). This is why it did not work so well. I am sure it will be better with villages - just do not be too hasty, create one, show it in the Wikiproject, if everything goes fine, create more.--Ymblanter (talk) 22:24, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Create more villages? That is what I used to do in 2010... create hundreds of English villages, and they were of very good quality. It was too tedious to do though, and once I had created every single village in every single southern county in England I considered it a great personal achievement! But nobody had seen me do it... when I created 10,000 Chinese townships on the other hand, I did consider it a great personal achievement, and a lot of people saw it. This got me into a lot of trouble and led to nearly all of them being deleted, in which I was very angry and devastated about. My Wikipedia career got shattered. Jaguar 22:28, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. "...everyone ganging up..." should be interpreted another way: You weren't doing something helpful for the encyclopedia. Learn to trust the community.
You want to "...be someone on Wikipedia and make myself known...", as you say, then sure, you can do that. Maybe alter that aim slightly to "...be a really valuable editor...". Would that aim be okay?
Here's a plan: Make product. Stay off the back pages.
Product about John Major, huh? Sure. Write about him. But, others might get in your face while doing so. Is there stuff to write about Major?
If starting new articles would be more satisfying, there are tons and tons of articles to be written. How would you feel about building up a farm of articles, all started by you, with photos, some facts, decent daily page hits, some DYK potential. Let me know if you're interested. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:04, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I have read your very thoughtful advice there and I am going to take it. I have decided that I am not going back to mass creation, although it was something that I was very happy with. I will go back to creating a few articles though, one at a time, maybe soon, but I don't know what about. There is a lot to write about Major and it seems that nobody has really edited the page apart form me, which seems really good. I will be interested in making product now! Regards Jaguar 16:40, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Jaguar, I was going to post on the ANI regarding your new stubs, but instead of just piling on there, I thought I'd drop a comment here instead. I'm not going to chew over the old soup of your last foray into article creation, as I commented quite a bit on your last ANI. Something you may consider is editcountitis, or in your case, article-creationitis. Having thousands of articles to your name seems to be a driving goal of yours, which is laudable as long as it's in an area that you can confidently work in. Creating chinese townships without a grasp of the language itself is taking WP:BOLD to extremes.

Anna Frodesiak, who I've worked with on the first article I did any sort of significant copy-editing on, is correct in that you shouldn't consider that being brought up on ANI as being "ganged up" on. Some of the names you see in that thread often vehemently disagree with each other on ANI. When a large number of editors make similar comments about you, it's not that they're all out to get you but that there must be something that you're doing wrong for so many people with so many different perspectives to be agreeing with each other. I highly recommend you spend some time with Anna working on real content building and not just creating stubs for others to fill out. Your "Wikipedia career" isn't everything, after all it's just a website. Everyone stumbles from time to time here, the important thing is that you can pick yourself up, learn from your mistakes and keep producing quality content. If you are really intent on creating stubs on Chinese towns, I highly suggest you do it at a slower pace and ask for input and help from Wikiproject:China. Blackmane (talk) 00:19, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Blackmane. Thank you for the message. I am not interested in edit count, but back then I was quite interested in article count. Being number 15 at List of Wikipedians by article count was a great achievement, but now I am number 500 I think, so that was really upsetting as it was a goal of mine that I can't return to anymore. My stub making days are over. But I think I am going to go to building various articles up to GA, something that I could do, I think. As long as I can become a great asset to Wikipedia, I am happy to do so. I thought I was improving Wikipedia by creating articles but I was wrong! Jaguar 16:45, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
That's the way. Don't be discourage by such a set back. It's building yourself up one step at time. Take me for instance. I do virtually no article creation, but because I'm a total obsessive about good prose I do primarily copy editing. At least I do, when I'm not being totally neglectful! =D On that note, if you ever want help on anything feel free to drop a message on my talk page. Blackmane (talk) 21:16, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

You know where to find me

Fair enough, my friend. Work on John Major stuff. I'll stay out of that. If and when you are ready for new articles that aren't to do with Major, you know where to find me. Best wishes, and happy to see things are looking up for you. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:36, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Welcome home!

Having seen your work, which proves your potential as an invaluable asset to the encyclopaedia, on par with a mini Dr. Blofeld, I am very delighted with your return. Please bear in mind that my vote to delete your creations was a criticism of only the new entries, not your worth as a contributor: after all, it was I who created most of the List of township-level divisions of X series in the first place. I look forward to more output from you! GotR Talk 00:45, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

I second this sentiment. Penyulap 13:16, 28 Jul 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the message GoTR! It's OK, the vote to delete my articles were 30 to 1, the '1' opposing was me! I think that you do excellent work on creating lists and red links for China, and I mass created everything you put in there! I must really thank you! Regards Jaguar 16:47, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Chinese stubs: some comments

For your Chinese substubs, they can't yet be added by the usual interwiki bots (as no pages other than that on zh exists yet), so it is important to manually add them. I am currently going through your recent creations, adding interwikis and coordinates. I found some transcription and disambiguation mistakes in List of township-level divisions of Hebei while doing so. Please do not add any more stubs relying on data from that list, unless you are able to check its accuracy and fix the errors it has. That takes time, but wrong articles are worse than not having an article at all. If you are not willing to take the time it takes to create these substubs properly, please do not create them at all.

As I am not sure you'll listen to me, here's a warning: If you create further substubs like this batch (i.e. without correcting errors and without adding interwikis), I will delete them without further notice.

Nevertheless I wish you happy editing (maybe in an area where you can read the sources), —Kusma (t·c) 12:10, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

If you want, you could go through the pages that do not have coordinates but an interwiki and copy over the coordinates from the Chinese Wikipedia. That would make your pages a lot more useful (I am a bit short on time right now). —Kusma (t·c) 12:31, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
Hi Kusma. Don't worry, I always have been listening to you and you can rest assured that my stub creating days are over since I couldn't do it right. Since the 18 articles I created yesterday have all been 'fixed' and I think all the other articles have been tended to over time. I am not going to create any more Chinese articles since the language is beyond me and even if I did create a few again in the future, I will alert somebody to check if they are satisfactory. Thank you. Jaguar 16:55, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
OK, I finally fixed them all (I hope). More work than I thought, but reading some Chinese every once in a while is fun. Still, I am happy that you'll move to other editing areas, and wish you all the best for that. —Kusma (t·c) 18:55, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
Cheers for sorting out the tail end there Kusma. It was getting too late last night for me to clear the remaining bits. Blackmane (talk) 20:55, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello Jaguar--sorry, I hate to criticize a fellow Wikipedian sex worker, but that review was really a bit cursory. The prose needs a lot of work, and there are the usual problems in the citation templates (web instead of news, incorrect publishers/newspapers, etc). Thank you. Drmies (talk) 22:05, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply. I've been out on the bike - motorbikes are so much better than Wikipedia! I checked the prose and the only problems were the Personal and Celebrity sections which were written like a biography. These issues have now been addressed in the GA review. I checked the sources in these sections, from what I read they were correct, but I must admit I didn't notice the incorrect publishers (if there were any)! I could look through the artilce again if you want? Regards, Jaguar 10:05, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

A beer for you!

Thanks for your review of Lauren Jackson! Hawkeye7 (talk) 01:19, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Hello Jaguar. Some time ago, you were kind enough to review and promote the Dorset article to a Good article. You said then it might, with some work, get to FA status. I thought you might like to know that the article in question is now at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Dorset/archive1 and that you might give us the benefit of your opinion once again. Best regards--Ykraps (talk) 06:37, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I noticed that Dorset had been put of for FA a few weeks ago, and believe it or not I was going to be the first one to leave comments! But ANI was giving me problems, so I had to leave it. I was going to comment sooner of later, but thanks for remending me now. I'll leave some comments later if I'm not going to be on the motorbike again today. Jaguar 10:08, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Sorry for not doing it yet as I've been away from Wikipedia for a few weeks. I've also just got my results today. I'll leave some comments later on Dorset this evening! Jaguar 14:45, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of John Major

The article John Major you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:John Major for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. Sarastro1 (talk) 19:42, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Help on John Jacob Astor on Titanic 1997.

Thank you for your edits and I need one more thing, it says on Titanic 1997 that Astor died after being crushed when one of the ship's funnels collapsed.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanic_(1997_film)#Historical_characters

I tired to set to how his body was described but I was refused. To have the source to show how it actually said. http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=jT-8P9ykSkcC&pg=PT92&lpg=PT92&dq=titanic+101+things+astor+crushed&source=bl&ots=Cvx1_lp0YB&sig=kxmVCW_fg3ccDY8ugtXEM1bOexI&hl=en&sa=X&ei=ZWGEUPzqHsfT0QXNkYCIBQ&ved=0CCEQ6AEwAA Please!

I actually brought Titanic the other week, and I know this sounds weird for me because I'm a boy but I have been addicted to it. In the film, I think it was Fabrizo De Rossi who got crushed to death by one of the funnels. Astor, the richest man on the ship, I couldn't remember how he died. There are a lot of different theories on how everyone died on Titanic - so none of them can be certain for sure. It would be best to list all the different theories there are? I'll look into it. Jaguar 16:43, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Bentworth

This is under cluttered lead editing again. Please keep an eye on it. Already reverted twice.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 16:00, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

I'll keep an eye on it, thanks for letting me know. I keep seeing Ukiws editing Bentworth in my watchlist but I never knew it was this bad... If this keeps on happening I think this article could lose its GA status, and nobody wants that to happen. Btw I see you got that pirate symbol in your signature too LOL! Jaguar 16:36, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

Improve on Captain Edward Smith page

I am sorry but do you know if there is anyone who can improve the article on the Titanic captain? because I have been doing many recent edits on it but they do not seem good enough to me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.15.135.245 (talk) 20:31, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

I can help, I got interested in it by watching the film lol. I noticed you're blocked, fetch another computer and I'll see what I can do when I'm not too busy at college. :D Jaguar 17:29, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Hello

Happy New Year
Wow! Looks like they had fun at that New Year's party! ........................................ Happy New Year 2013. Ihardlythinkso (talk) 23:11, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

Thx for your efforts re Penyulap. He has been very nice to me. I think he is misunderstood. His intelligence is organic, and undeniable. People ahead of their time get shot down here. I think he has every right to be pissed over being blocked; it amazes me those that see his anger and not thinking maybe where it came from. Penyulap is too nice, actually. Kind soul. I do not know or understand, however, anything about the sockpupeteering accusations (definition, content, merit). Or about the Ombudsman stuff. I do sense a strong prejudice against him. For example the shallow accuse that he had difficulty communicating. (Imagine that!) This is a wicked environment too good for someone like Peny. Peny offers much benefit to WP, which is large enough, that it should have no trouble accomodating such an idiosyncratic and gentle genius. The administrator weight-shifting here is depressing. That type of nonsense has driven Malleus from the project too. (Another ahead of his time.) What a pity is all of this. It is also somewhat scary. (Another kind soul: Pesky. Where is she?) Because of all I've said, I'm thinking there is no way I can be of help to Peny. Though I want to. Sincere, Ihardlythinkso (talk) 23:06, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

Yeah I know it is very sad to see so many people leaving Wikipedia, all the good guys have gone and it's thanks to admins over stepping their power, you see the majority of them are very stuck up... But don't worry, I haven't given up yet - that WP:AN post was the beginning, with more support behind me and Penyulap, we will eventually get him unblocked. Wikipedia could use a good guy like him again :) He will be unblocked soon, don't worry! Jaguar 21:06, 14 January 2013 (UTC)

Baoding Province

Just an FYI - you've got a typo in the category spot on these articles (Category:Boading Province). Don't worry about what's gone before - it's a simple fix with AWB, and I'll run it shortly, but you may want to fix it in the new ones. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:58, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Oh thank you for letting me know! I will fix them when I find them. I've currently moved off Baoding and onto US Virign Islands, shouldn't take less than ten minutes with them. Jaguar 21:00, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Well...a point regarding those. For any localities in the United States, you may want to use the USGS geonames database. Each locality has its own government-issued ID number in there, and it's an official United States government website. So the reflink should be accurate. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:03, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Thank you, I have never done any US locations before, and as I've only made ten of all the Virgin Islands villages I could find, I will go back and check them. Thanks again for letting me know. Jaguar 21:06, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Check just about any US town stub - it'll show you what the linked page looks like. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:17, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Your climate data is wrong too for Northside (Saint Thomas), U.S. Virgin Islands, wrong links too, most of them have multiple errors. Please Jaguar, I don't want to see your articles get deleted and you leave again. When I create mass stubs they're almost always without errors and errors are usually spotted by me very quickly. I think your stubs are more problematic than their worth. Honestly it is isn't worth it. ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 22:19, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Your new stubs

Hi Jaguar. Considering your past experiences with stub creation, it might be a good idea to take it slow, and get some community feedback before proceeding.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't be making these, but I'm seeing strange things like Fond Gens Libres (14°29'0"N 60°5'0"W), and stubs supported by single website homepages that don't mention the subject. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:20, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Fond Gens Libres (14°29'0"N 60°5'0"W) isn't a commune, its a tiny village. Gah, what made you go off on one Jaguar!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 22:23, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
I'm not attacking you. I'm just trying to help you. It's always a good plan to interface with the community when making mass changings. Then you can get it right, which brings priase, as opposed to criticism and a possible wasted effort. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:42, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Jag, the Martinque stubs have multiple errors. INSEE doesn't mention the villages. You've used the wrong infoboxes, infoboxes which have wrong divisions and data, no mention of the villages in either of the external links, even a Trois something or other in the DEFAULTSORT. I'm overriding all of the entries you've created with a basic indobox and source to geonames which actually mentions the settlements. Please don't do this again mate. I can get you running on something if you want to create stubs, but without the errors.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 22:46, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Yes. Listen to the doctor, my friend. He can hook you up with a list and a model stub. Or, get one stub right on your own, ask Blofeld to give it a look over, then you're off and running. Always best to get the prototype solid and meeting with approval before mass producing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:56, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Blofeld, Anna, Ser, I'm so sorry for this mess I have created. Thank you for letting me know, I'm going to find a reliable source to find on Martinque to help you override these articles, Dr. It would be a good idea to slow down for now, but I'm not sure about the community feedback as proven in May the community wanted me banned. Dr, if you could get me running on something else that I could do (that would not have errors) I would be so grateful, that is what I really need. I appreciate all of your help. Jaguar 23:00, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Chinese stubs

All the stubs seem to be supported by the same ref which doesn't connect. Example: Qingfengdian --> http://www.xzqh.org/html/show.php?contentid=1387

Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:02, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Baoding isn't a province and you've used the same coordinates for most of the China stubs. There are errors in every one of the stubs you created Jag, it's a mess, you're not kidding. Pace isn't a problem if you get it right, and I don't think you can finding things alone. I can get you creating if you want it. Leave Martinique, I'll get it sorted out. I think you'll find most of the settlements are still red linked for a reason.. ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 23:03, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

I have found a ref that is suitable for all Hebei articles, not just Baoding, but all for Hebei. 1 I am not sure if this can be used however as it has google translate enabled on it. And I will take your advice doctor, I will leave Martinique. It seems like I can't do anything right. Jaguar 23:11, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, that link was for Hubei, not Hebei. It seems like that the only source there is doesn't have Hebei for some reason. I will keep looking. Jaguar 23:13, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

It's not just that, you've got the wrong district category as well, got the wrong Chinese names, wrong coordinates, copying the same one everytime. Seriously you'd be better off asking an admin to delete all of the stubs you created, its gonna take me days to cleanup all of your stubs manually. ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 23:18, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

You're right, either that or I could go through my contribs and AfD them all myself? Just the Chinese articles I created today or all of the Martinique too? Jaguar 23:22, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

I've added to Qingfengdian which is still dubious in terms of sourcing, but yes, delete the China ones, I'll get Ser Amantio to AWB override your Martinique ones, and I'll try to flesh them out with coordinates and at least some location info. Hmm Abandonne isn't even a village it's a quartier of a village which doesn't even have an article on here. I'd delete the lot if I was you. Unless your stubs have entries on another wikipedia like the Spanish ones, probably not a good idea to create articles on tiny villages without verifying them yourself, I know from experience! There is so much information becoming available for a lot of places it would probably be best to read off data sheets and create articles on settlements which are verifiable and with some info. I'd support you stubbing articles which have content on other wikipedias though, ideally sourced with a fact or two, but in all honesty I'd rather you drill 1000 unsourced with nothing but translate tag "xx is a listed building in Alicante Spain" than 100 unverifiable articles with fake sources and errors .. ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 23:38, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

I'll create a template for Sweden tomorrow you can use if you're still up for stubbing which minimalise the chance of errors and contain a population figure.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 01:12, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Sweden

OK. I've created User:Jaguar/Sandbox Sweden. The list I want you to work through is at User:Jaguar/Sweden. They're from Swedish wikipedia. To create use {{subst:User:Jaguar/Sandbox Sweden|{{subst:PAGENAME}}|Enter population figure}}. When you click on a red link press preview, check on Swedish wikipedia what the population is given as (also verify that the source has the village too but the data figure should be OK), then enter the population figure, obviously not including the text "Enter population figure". Most of the Swedish articles will be settlements of under 200 people with 2005 data. "Smaller locality" means a settlement under 200 people, but for some you may have to change to "Locality" if it has over 200 people. So to create Bergvik, Ekerö kommun you simply paste {{subst:User:Jaguar/Sandbox Sweden|{{subst:PAGENAME}}|92}} into the red link and save. If you can remove the endings from the title and infobox title if they are dabbed after creation. If neither Swedish wiki or the source has the data for the village just leave it red linked. kommun should probably be removed from the page title at a later date and all of the entries you start added to the nav box but that's an afterthought♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 15:42, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

See how you get on with that for now anyway, leave a message on my talk page if you have difficulties. If you can follow that, I'll show you how to access the other lists and change the municipality names in the template and also to remember to change the date in the source when you start if doing on a different day, that's easy of course but see how it goes/ ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 15:35, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

New stubs

Hi Jaguar. Please consider running the idea of new stub creation by someone experienced. I'm not saying you shouldn't be creating them. I'm just saying that due to your past experiences, I wouldn't want to see your work be in vain.

Also, the population field in the infobox has issues. It should be sorted out in the template you're using so each one doesn't need to be fixed later.

Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:37, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Oh, and you've also got the disabled category Category:Populated places in Ekerö Municipality present in all of them. So, 30 need to be fixed. Triple check the first one to be sure, before mass producing. It pays. And don't forget the talk page banners. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:42, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

I just fixed the disabled category problem. They also had a programming element that shouldn't be there... {{{2}}}. They were missing DEFAULTSORT values. The articles needed a DEFAULTSORT value because of the non-standard English characters in the title. Also, you have created some Swedish town stubs in the past which have been redirected as non notable. Bgwhite (talk) 06:13, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Hi, thank you both for telling me. I was just simply creating all the articles in the list like Dr. Blofeld had told me to do in January, I have been away from Wikipedia for a long time. Don't worry, I won't be creating articles like I was before, I was just clearing out the short list. Many thanks Jaguar 14:56, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

New articles

Hi,
In 2011, you created many thousands of articles by rote; the lack of sourcing and lack of evidence of notability caused a lot of problems. You "retired" and walked away from the problem. But now it seems you're back and creating lots of articles by rote, without any evidence of notability. That's a Bad Thing. You should stop that now. bobrayner (talk) 12:11, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi, don't worry, like I said above I'm not going back to mass creation like I did last year, I have just cleared out a list that Dr. Blofeld left me to do back in the new year. I've been away from Wikipedia for so long I've almost forgot how it works! Regards Jaguar 14:57, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
If Dr Blofeld or somebody else has given you the impression that sourcing and notability are optional, you've been given a bum steer again; nonetheless, you are responsible for your edits, and it's pretty unfortunate that this problem keeps on happening. bobrayner (talk) 15:48, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Sweden-related locality stubs

Hello Jaguar, I just wanted to give you some feedback on the Ekerö Municipality, Sweden-related locality stubs you created in early May. (I only now got around to check them as part of my new article patrolling for WP:SWEDEN.) While all are relevant as article subjects, almost half of them should not have been created under the name you chose, since either 1) you used Swedish terms to disambiguate them (either "kommun" instead of municipality or a Swedish term for locality) despite the fact that you use its English name in the body text, or 2) they were duplicates to existing articles, despite the fact that the Swedish Wikipedia articles all had interwiki links to the existing English Wikipedia article. I've now cleaned this up and project tagged them, but frankly, this is too high an "error rate" for a batch of articles/stubs mass created on the same day. If you use editing tools to create them, I believe that you need to modify your practices to avoid creating this amount of cleanup work for the rest of us. Regards, Tomas e (talk) 11:25, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

Thank you very much for going through this! I've stopped making Swedish stubs now as there are no more to create. If my error rate remains too high I will stop making articles. Regards Jaguar 20:33, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
