Number of flights of astronauts[edit]

  • Could you please stop from editing the number of flights of astronauts with wrong data ? where did you take that the current flight of Sunita Williams is not her first mission for instance ? when did she fly previously ? Hektor 06:29, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Capital letters[edit]

Please note that not every word of every sentence needs to start with a capital letter, and in fact it is wrong to do so. It detracts from Wikipedia. Chris the speller 02:58, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Edit summary[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. --Plek 20:26, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Future missions and astronaut infobox[edit]

Please don't add future missions to the astronaut infobox. Since flight schedules can change, the infobox listing should be reserved for flights actually flown. Flights the person is scheduled to be on can be described in the body of the article. For example, while Clayton Anderson is scheduled to return on STS-120, things can change and he could come back on a different flight. Until he actually joins the STS-120 crew and it undocks from the ISS, it shouldn't be in the infobox. Rillian 13:53, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: STS-120[edit]

Yes, i did change it back. As my edit summary said: "we shouldn't require a "legenda" in order to read the article. preserve some of this in comments, perhaps someone has an idea to represent it better." --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 00:41, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

I corrected mission specialist 1 vs. #2. For the rest remember that the article should be readable by 10 year olds if needed. Having a list with acronyms like you were using is simply not appropriate in a encyclopedic article. I advice you to read trough some of the Wikipedia:Manual of Style guidelines and the guidelines on space missions. If I change something, then I do that for a reason. In your case it was that it was making the article less readable then acceptable. If your changes are correct and wouldn't have made the article overly complicated then I wouldn't have changed it back. --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 00:57, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Hello Jamesbondfan, I've reverted your changing the time format in the STS-120 infobox, because WikiProject Human Spaceflight has discussed this issue extensively, and the consensus and decision was: "Times in the infobox should be in 24-hour UTC.", but when appropriate, in the article space, we can put local time in parentheses. If you'd like to see the discussion, you can find it here. Hope that helps explain why I reverted your changes! ArielGold 21:01, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

STS-122[edit]

Hello again Jamesbondfan, I've restored the previous version of the above page, because you have removed valid, informative sources from the article, and you've changed things like "Commander" to "CDR" which is not proper per the manual of style, and per the WikiProject Space Missions design. This was also mentioned above by TheDJ, when done to STS-120. The articles here need to be written in an encyclopedic manner, so that even those unfamiliar with the subject matter will understand what is written. I hope you do not take offense, but the format is done for all missions, and the crew notes section is not for explaining what a "CDR" is, but rather giving information on original crew assigned, and other items of note. Thanks! ArielGold 22:41, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

I put the crew in order, and again removed your edits that removed the spelling out of Commander and Pilot, and Mission Specialist, per the manual of style and the Project's guidelines. Please don't continue to add a "key", acronyms are not done like this, I really would encourage you to review the manual of style which explains the proper use of acronyms, and why things should be spelled out, as mentioned by myself, and TheDJ above, the average reader needs to be able to read this and not have to consult some key to decipher the article's content. As for who is doing the EVAs, that will be in the EVA table once the mission begins. WikiProject Space has a layout guide and guidelines for these pages, and I'd also encourage you to review those as well. Thanks, ArielGold 01:18, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Is there a reason[edit]

that you have copied the bio for Mark Polansky to Douglas G. Hurley? -MBK004 06:47, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm going to revert it because people searching for Douglas Hurley don't want to read the bio of Mark Polansky. If your intention is to expand the article, please let me know and I'll let you know how to set up a sandbox in your userspace to develop the article. -MBK004 06:50, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
My apologies, I just read the edit more-in depth and saw that you just coped the infobox. Sorry...-MBK004 06:52, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

JetBlue/JFK[edit]

I agree that JFK is a "hub" for JetBlue, but you can't just change it in the article. Theres an entire section on the talk page discussing the issue and a consensus was reached to call JFK a "focus city." The correct place to bring this up is at the talk page, not my user page. Sox23 05:04, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Daunte Culpepper[edit]

Culpepper has not been signed by the Lions. He has merely "agreed to terms" on a contract, but he is not a member of the Lions. All the reports, including the ones you presumably have read, say he will be signed on Monday. The Lions currently do not have an open roster spot for Culpepper, and he cannot be signed until they clear one.►Chris NelsonHolla! 02:06, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

It's impossible, there is no open roster spots. News sites just like to jump the gun and say "signed" instead of "agreed to terms" so they can say they reported it early.►Chris NelsonHolla! 05:19, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

STS-126[edit]

Hi James, please don't remove references from articles, as you did here, the references are there to reference the crew selection, and both were cited multiple times, so by removing them, you introduced citation errors into the references section. I moved Bowen up, since it seems you were concerned about the order they were listed, but please note that it really does not matter what order the crew is listed, or which "MS" number they are, in the context of the article, a Mission Specialist is a Mission Specialist, and where they sit in the orbiter is not particularly relevant to the mission. ArielGold 06:34, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Template:NFLHeadCoaches[edit]

There is no need for it to look like this Re. Ryan, as there is no other Ryan head coach, just leave it as Ryan.--Iamawesome800 Talk to Me 17:05, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

But his brother Rob is not a head coach yet, per WP:CRYSTAL, so it's just Ryan as there is no other Ryan head coach.--Iamawesome800 Talk to Me 17:32, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Tons of the other coaches on that template share names with NFL assistants. Just because Ryan has a brother who is an assistant doesn't mean anything. There are other NFL assistants with the last name Edwards, but we don't do H. Edwards for Herm Edwards do we?►Chris NelsonHolla! 17:34, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Xavier Nady DL - Yankees roster[edit]

Information.svg Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Template:New York Yankees roster. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add references to the article. If you had bothered to actually check any verifiable sources instead of just going by what you thought you heard, you would've realized that they said he was going to be placed on the DL, but HAD NOT YET... JustSomeRandomGuy32 (talk) 16:02, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

There is a difference between "will be" and "has been".... he is NOW... he wasn't yesterday... Your own article even says ""We're planning on DLing him Thursday," Girardi said." - that doesn't mean you could indicate him on the DL yesterday.... That violates WP:CRYSTAL. JustSomeRandomGuy32 (talk) 18:33, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Re:Joseph Acaba[edit]

You state: "His class Photo in his eva suit is the only pic to be used"

Under what authority do you speak when you state "His class Photo in his eva suit is the only pic to be used"? I have been around here for a long time, know Acaba, written his bio. and have been responsible for his recognition in Puerto Rico. I know the if's and and's of the image policy in Wikipedia and therefore do not need anyone to tell me which images are suitable or not. The image which you have placed has him in his astronaut uniform and there already is one in the article the other image which is also PD is an official NASA image which is a much better one. Now the main thing is for you to not come to my page with the claim "the only pic to be used" because if you know anything about Wikipedia image policy, you will know that "the pic "is not" the only to be used" Tony the Marine (talk) 19:34, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Tell you what I'm going to do. I took a second look at the image which you placed and we'll keep it in the infobox and place the other one within the article. Next time chose your words carefully and think before you go around telling a Wikipedia editor who is experienced with policy what he can or can't do and what is and what isn't allowed. Plus when you go to some ones "talk page" always sign with four tides: ~~~~. Thank you. Tony the Marine (talk) 19:46, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

User:jamesbondfan My fault it is just that "the class photos in mission attire" used are pratically standard around nasa astronauts wiki's

List of pastoral visits of Pope John Paul II outside Italy[edit]

Hi Jamesbondfan,

I wish to apologize for reverting your edit a few days ago. You are indeed correct that Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass at Yankee Stadium in 1979. I had reverted the edit because the citation only mentioned Shea Stadium. Upon doing a bit of looking into things, I found that the Vatican's official website and the Pope's official biography verify that there was indeed a Papal Mass at Yankee Stadium. Thank you for pointing this out and again, I am sorry for doubting you. Best regards, Mtminchi08 (talk) 01:46, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

The X Factor (UK series 10)[edit]

Hello,

While it is good that you edit Wikipedia to try and ensure accuracy, I have recently had to revert a part of one of your edits. You decided to remove the picture and status of Simon Cowell as a guest judge on The X Factor (UK series 10). However, references say that he will simply not be meeting with the other judges before bootcamp, but now giving his opinions via telephone, his input will be the same in a judge capacity. Furthermore, he is also guest judging at the live shows so there was no reason to remove this content. Both myself and another editer spent a long time getting the photo's right. So, don't take this as a downer, it is great you put effort in to editing Wiki; but in future if you are removing material, instead of adding, please discuss with the person that added the material (unless it it clearly a mistake or vandalism).

Thanks, Bruno Russell (talk) 10:38, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

User:MDSanker/2015 Vanderbilt Commodores football team[edit]

I've removed the speedy template from the page because I had moved it into the user's userspace. I agree that it is too soon for this to be in the mainspace, but there is no reason why it should be deleted from the editor's userspace at this point in time. I moved it there so it can be worked on until the season begins, at which point it can be moved back into the mainspace. WP:TOOSOON doesn't really apply to userspace entries. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 09:44, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

What's the problem on why i can't delete it? i've deleted other football wikipedias that were created too early--Jamesbondfan (talk) 11:17, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
  • If this was still in the mainspace, you could delete it via a speedy deletion or an AfD. However what I did was move this to the editor's personal userspace, which is an entirely different beast. If you really want this deleted, feel free to go through WP:MfD. However I don't think that a deletion is really necessary. This is the userspace and people frequently use it as a place to store things for upcoming events, movies, books, or anything that doesn't satisfy mainstream requirements but might in the future. I moved it because while it is very premature for this to be in the mainspace, I don't want the work to go to waste since it is highly likely that there will be a football team for Vanderbuilt in 2015. Storing this instead of just outright deleting it is a good way to have something to transfer when sourcing for this does come available. Since the editor also has a history of editing on Wikipedia, I decided that it'd be a nice gesture to userfy the data for him so he can work on improving it- something I often do on Wikipedia if I think that there is enough of an assertion of future notability. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 11:23, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Basically, just because deletion would be possible in the mainspace doesn't mean that deletion is always the best alternative. Sometimes it's better to give the editor a chance to work on the material rather than just outright deleting everything. Let's give him a chance to work on it. If he transfers it back into the mainspace, have at it. If not, then it's not really harming anything being in the userspace. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 11:26, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
Now that you explained it ok, but i think you should redirect to the main vandy football page as a place holder--Jamesbondfan (talk) 11:31, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
That's much better i think it's reasonable that a page that's a year away has a placeholder but i've seen other football pages have pages that are 2 3 even 4 years away have one with a redirection but what you did i did not know exist thanks for sorting it all out. --Jamesbondfan (talk) 11:56, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

RFC at MOS:BIO[edit]

I have opened an RFC on the question of appointment of Catholic bishops and the larger matter of inclusion of future jobs in infobox, list, etc. at MOS:BIO. Please see Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Biographies#Inclusion of future job positions in infobox, list, etc. Thank you! Elizium23 (talk) 18:54, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

WMAQ-TV[edit]

Hello. Just wanted to let you know that I reverted your edit. I am currently working on removing them, so you don't need to be a jerk about it. Other users are removing them too, so it's not just me. Non-notable staff violates WP:LISTPEOPLE. Here is a quote from another editor:

"Lists of people must meet the criteria listed at WP:LISTPEOPLE. This isn't the first station article this has been discussed on, and articles have beenprotected to prevent these additions or the editors in question blocked when they persistently continue to reinsert inappropriate material. If a name is included in the article in this way, it has to show that it's relevant to the subject by meeting WP:LISTPEOPLE. Just because a station lists its employees doesn't mean Wikipedia needs to as well, and other station articles needing similar cleanup doesn't mean this one doesn't need to be cleaned up, because whenever it's actually discussed on a station article, the end result is the same; the names that don't meet WP:LISTPEOPLE are removed."

I will not get in an edit war with you, nor should you. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 17:44, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Here are some places they have been discussed at:
It also violates a WP:NOTDIRECTORY. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 19:23, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
lol they've been there for the longest time the listed personnel some even with citations, i figured completing the sections and updated the comings and goings , and some of the notables are that are "not notable" to you the outsider of the market of Fort Myers and nyc (i've lived in both) and yes im an outsider to the chicago market , yet you choose to be the wiki police and screw it all up so don't sit there and say im getting into an editing war with you when your the wiki police here ruining it all --Jamesbondfan (talk) 19:30, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
Who cares what they violate wikipolice --Jamesbondfan (talk) 19:30, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
If you keep on violating these rules, you have the chance of being blocked. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 19:32, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
lol for what?! for keeping information right?!--Jamesbondfan (talk) 19:36, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
No, for adding information that is extraneous and difficult to keep up with. You do not go to a friends house then crap on the couch, you use the bathroom. Just because some else craps on the couch, you would do the same based on your current logic. Spshu (talk) 20:26, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
lol how the hell is it difficult?! this is crap, i cant keep information up to date cause you and corky decide to be the wikipolice and think it's violating a template? you should be ashamed of yourself for ganging up on someone who wants to keep the information correct. --Jamesbondfan (talk) 20:33, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
You're framing the comment as though they are removing content to make it incorrect and you're trying to correct it, but that's not what they are doing. Unsourced content must be sourced, if they remove it and you reinsert it, find a source that supports it. Further, if a name is added to a list of people, it must meet the very basic criteria listed at WP:LISTPEOPLE. That the information had already been there is irrelevant; lots of articles need cleanup, that doesn't mean they can never be cleaned up just because they've been problematic for a length of time.
Also, you are at 3 reverts on a number of these articles, and if you violate WP:3RR you may be blocked without further warning to prevent further disruption to the articles. However, that doesn't mean you can edit 3 times and then stop, you'll likely be blocked for that as well. Please stop, find sources, and discuss this on the article talk pages and get a consensus for your preferred content before attempting to reinsert the material. Thank you. - Aoidh (talk) 21:00, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
what ever i had enough doesn't mean you won, im not gonna aggravate myself with the wikipolice.--Jamesbondfan (talk) 21:21, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
while im here, this is not a revert since you don't trust me on editing, on the wink news article in notable former people, you forgot Dario melendez, if going from local to espn is not notable then idk what is. also in the wbbh talk page i added a discussion regarding new changes today so you can debate it since you dont trust me in editing. --Jamesbondfan (talk) 21:32, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Request reason:

how was it an edit war? i did not start an edit war the user accusing me was the one who provolked it and decided to go behind my back and gang up on me, and you condone ganging up on other users?Jamesbondfan (talk) 09:24, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

Decline reason:

You were clearly edit warring across multiple articles and I can see at least one wp:3RR violation. In the future, it may be more helpful to pick an article and debate your position there. Simply reverting multiple editors over and over is a bad idea. Kuru (talk) 11:16, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first and then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired.

Nebraska 2015[edit]

Would you think the next offensive scheme would be all pro style or West coast offense again.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Green334 (talkcontribs) 19:36, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

Riley ususally runs a pro style offense so he could be bringing stuff from oregon state east with him including the offense and staff too--Jamesbondfan (talk) 20:14, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

People are concerned about it, because we all know what happened last time, lol, but Bill just didn't do it right so it failed at Nebraska. Riley's all different. --Green334 (talk) 20:40, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Jim Watkins[edit]

Hi Jamesbondfan. It looks like you are in a content dispute with some IPs at Jim Watkins. Looking over the changes, I see that there are no references to support any of the changes made. I'm going to go through and prune the article a bit and I would like to ask that you add reliable sources to your edits in line with WP:BLP. Thanks, Tiptoety talk 19:39, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
