Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology[edit]

Hi, I've made a number of changes to this article recently (full disclosure: editing as part of the ISCB wikipedia competition) and have just opened a request for peer review, with the objective of getting some advice on areas for improvement and reassessing the rating on the quality scale. As someone who has previously made a number of edits to the ISCB article, I'm just letting you know in case you're interested in the outcome, or possibly contributing. Thanks! --Amkilpatrick (talk) 13:45, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

PS: I just realised you're also at University of Edinburgh, nice to see someone local here! :) --Amkilpatrick (talk) 13:47, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
Hi thanks for the note. I'm actually (to a minor degree) helping out with the competition this year so it's probably best I recuse myself from the peer review. If it ends up at GAN post competition I'd be interested in reviewing it for sure! Best of luck Jebus989 15:57, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
No problem, completely understand. Thanks for getting back to me! --Amkilpatrick (talk) 17:02, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

Ban Appeal of AKonanykhin[edit]

Hi. Since you contributed to the discussion resulting in the ban of Wikiexperts, you may want to consider the CEO's appeal at Wikipedia:AN#Ban Appeal of AKonanykhin. --Anthonyhcole (talk · contribs · email) 17:59, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Bomis thanks[edit]

Thank you for your help at Bomis, much appreciated, — Cirt (talk) 17:26, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

It was a very minor contribution but thanks for the thanks! benmoore 19:30, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Just a thanks[edit]

I am interested in genetics and ancestry, and the probability of getting pancreatic (actually, of the digestive system) cancer, which I know you're not studying. But I saw your name and thought we might be related, as I am a big fan of Jebus, too. I especially liked his airplane experience.

I believe I am already showing signs. I've had asymptomatic pancreatitis, for years. My mouth and lips have recently started burning. I will vomit and poop at the least provocation. Have an enlarged pancreas. Oh...never mind I forgot this wasn't your field. Just got a chuckle from Jebus Thanks.Mammo1111 (talk) 18:49, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm glad you liked my old moniker. You're right that I'm in no position to give medical advice but if there's anything on Wikipedia I can help you with, do let me know. All the best — benmoore 16:44, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Ben, thanks for posting this link under my comment at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Oanabay04. I've been out of the community for about three-ish years and that wasn't a practice in existence back then, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. I really appreciate it! smithers - talk 19:54, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

No problem. I didn't realise someone else had done so before you so apologies for that. Thanks for the note! benmoore 21:13, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

RFC needed[edit]

There's a growing consensus that we need a sitewide RFC, asap, to discuss any plans to do something special on Feb 11. I'm hesitant to set it up myself, as my attempt to lead this didn't work out so well. Since you were one of the clearest and earliest voices calling for us to do an RFC, would you consider setting one up? --HectorMoffet (talk)

Thanks for the message, I've watchlisted the RfC page and should have some time later on today to help develop it (with the disclaimer that I don't really have strong feelings for or against the idea). benmoore 10:03, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

Great! You deserve the credit really but thanks for the note. benmoore 09:40, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Nah, plenty of credit to go around. It was truely a collaborative effort. Keep up the good work. --ThaddeusB (talk) 17:50, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

A year and a half after you opposed my RfA[edit]

I am inviting you to leave me some feedback, 18 months after you opposed my RfA. Do you still believe I am not fit to be an admin? Do you believe I have been able to improve past the concerns you have brought up? Do not be afraid of being too harsh, I am specifically welcoming criticism as I believe it is the best way to improve and I am always looking to learn from my mistakes. I am particularly looking for feedback as to whether you have objections to myself lifting the self-imposed 1RR restriction I had agreed to towards the end of my RfA. If you don't have time to comment, don't fret it either, this is nothing I'll lose sleep over. :) ☺ · Salvidrim! ·  19:48, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Kudos for doing this, however I don't think we've crossed paths since (I've been fairly inactive) so I can't add anything useful to the discussion. On a personal note, I've pretty much had a self-imposed 1RR throughout my editing history per WP:ROWN, there's never any need for more IMO (save the exemptions for vandalism/BLP etc.) but that's just my 2¢. Anyway, cheers for the invitation! benmoore 22:27, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Since you commented at Wikipedia talk:Good article nominations#The State of GAC, I thought you might want to comment at Wikipedia talk:Good article nominations#Formal decision on nomination limit. Most people who commented on the initial discussion do not seem to be following this page, because the formal decision has gotten very few responses.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:48, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for this, have commented there now. benmoore 21:30, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
