Put my last edit back in, and give it to an adult to read. You don't know what angry is, you don't know what Evolution is, and you are too young to know the consequences of being an atheist. I am sorry you have been brain.bwashed.

Hi Johnanth, I just started this page, but before really starting the page, I uploaded the picture, it suddenly got tagged for immediate deletion. please , can you let me finish this before you take any decision. moreover, can you help me to upload the picutre which I am unable to do. RegardsJogibaba (talk) 19:22, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry about that I guess, but it was waiting there for a few minutes. The picture is not important, but you should have made an effort to type up all the content on initial "upload". But I was correct in marking it at the time. Thanks for the heads up. --Γιάννης Α. | 19:33, 26 September 2010 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vinodverma83 (talkcontribs)

Speedy deletion declined: Fuchsia x bacillaris[edit]

Hello Johnanth, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Fuchsia x bacillaris, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Dabomb87 (talk) 01:54, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for that, mate, but being a "deletionist" is fun. But that wasn't the reason I selected the article. In it, no links were present, and the subject of it was completely unclear. I couldn't understand a word apart from "fuchsia" and a couple of technical compound words from Greek. It probably has something to do with plants, but to most readers who don't understand the language, the article would make no sense. And yes, I've look at the criteria for speedy deletion manual numerous times. People can make a few mistakes when bored (but willing to help) at 2 am! Still, a good judgement on your part, I suppose, but I was close, right? --Γιάννης Α. | 16:22, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Barnstar[edit]

Ευχαριστώ πολύ :) KenBailey (talk) 08:17, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

However meritorious my actions in saving the Battle of Jutland talk page from further prolongation of a highly predictable metric/Imperial/US spat initiated by your insistence that somebody else should carry out a check you could have carried out for yourself from information already present in the article, and further inflamed by your insistence that the long ton was defunct (a claim which would not survive consultation of the Wikipedia article on long ton to which you linked) , they were done for the common good, rather than in any hope of fame, honour or fortune. Consequently I feel I must decline the consequent unilateral award to me of a Barnstar.... especially when accompanied by an edit tag of 'good riddance to you'.
You are (according to your user page) young and (from your page history) apparently a newcomer, so I will not bite your head off. I will merely express the hope that with age and experience will come better manners. Rjccumbria (talk) 23:51, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
What if starting semi-pointless debates is exciting, and may actually help someone while reading an article?
What if the "perpetrator" [me] with my "gross insistence" of starting this stupid, stupid debate were not stopped by a "white knight", as they're known on the internet, that being you?
What if awarding someone who did the right thing and ended a pointless debate is good?
What if people like you who dislike being awarded for their actions in a project like this
What if I (although once again feel somewhat attacked on a few counts) wanted you to be recognised for your effort in ending an endless discussion, and assumed good faith (like you should have)?
What if I didn't know a few of the guidelines of Wikipedia, or haven't read through all of the TOS?
What if you should stop suffering with logorrhoea to discreetly deem yourself superior to others and get on with your life?!
What if I weren't young, and was older than you? Would you retract from posting this inflammatory garbage produced from your rage (and a bit of boredom)?
What if I cannot do whatever damn activity I want to do on Wikipedia, even if that were converting units of measurement back-and-forth?

Still wouldn't understand, would you, eh old man? I'd bet if you had an administrator account, you'd attempt to ban me right after your read my reply.
Human nature and kids seem to be a few things you cannot accept in the heartless NPOV world of an encyclopedia (you haven't patrolled new pages, clearly!). The younger generation is growing up, and will soon get into Wikipedia themselves. And make sure you're comfortable with that before your love of PC and realisation of the need to feel alive again before death takes over. --Γιάννης Α. | 00:34, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
If I may pick on one of the many what ifs , if you wanted me to be recognised and the barnstar was a good faith action, then I rather think it would not have had the ?petulant? edit tag 'and good riddance to you'. As for the rest, you are letting your imagination run away with you; for example I wouldn't dream of banning people for suchlike 'youthful high spirits' - I would however remonstrate with them, and this I have done. Feel free to do whatever you can to improve Wikipedia, but please accept gracefully that occasionally it might be you that has had hold of the wrong end of the stick. New Page Patrol Reminder[edit]

Just a reminder that it is advisable to patrol new pages from the bottom of the log and that:

  • Tagging anything other than attack pages, copyvio, vandalism or complete nonsense only a few minutes after creation is not likely to be constructive and may only serve to annoy the page author.
  • A good rule of thumb is to wait until at least 15 minutes after the last edit before tagging the article.

Arklow Pottery tagged 1 minute after creation.

Editors are not required to finish articles first before uploading and my understanding is that it has always been common practice on wikipedia to build the article online. Best wishes, (Msrasnw (talk) 19:48, 26 September 2010 (UTC))

Sure, no problem. But don't come to me saying sorry when tens of other Wikipedians do exactely the kind of thing I did, but without those reasons you cited. Why are you so angry about something as harmless at that? Jesus. --Γιάννης Α. | 20:00, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and you didn't even look at what I tagged Arklow Pottery for (wikification, add more links and references). Nor did you look at the article, I bet. Don't criticise me if you haven't investigated. And your evidence is obviously faulty, as pointed out. Please don't put this quarrel against me, future talk page stalkers. --Γιάννης Α. | 20:35, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Dear Johnanth, I am not sure why you are upset. Sorry if I have upset you. I was just pointing out to you that as one who patrols new pages it is good to be aware that our suggestion is not to tag pages (except attack pages, copyvio, vandalism or complete nonsense) only a few minutes after they have been started. In your case you tagged the page I had just started after 1 minute for three things: cleanup, expand, expert. I am not sure what you mean when you say "you didn't even look at what I tagged Arklow Pottery for" and "Don't criticise me if you haven't investigated". Anyway I am also not sure what you mean by my evidence being faulty or your worries about future page stalkers. Best wishes in any case (Msrasnw (talk) 21:05, 26 September 2010 (UTC))

Flight 103 (disambiguation)[edit]

Please try to avoid using Category:Disambiguation (as you recently did for Flight 103 (disambiguation) and Griffith Island (disambiguation)), which is legitimate for about 18 non-Cat-namespace pages, and no main-("article"-)namespace ones. Dab pages usually get, instead, {{Disambig}}. (In fact, it is unlikely you will ever encounter a Dab suitable for use of HotCat, since nearly all other Cats applicable to Dabs should be added via additional parameters of {{Disambig}}.)
Thanks for your work -- and especially for your interest in Dab pages.

Speedy deletion declined: Over9000[edit]

Hello Johnanth, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Over9000, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not previously been deleted via a deletion discussion. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Dabomb87 (talk) 00:11, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Whoops. I've become too used to using Twinkle it seems. I noticed "Over 9000" was a forbidden article title due to spam, but didn't know if it had been deleted through discussion or not (silly me, I ought to have checked) so I just put the tag closest to the actual deletion reason, that being spam. Anyway, it seemed like you had the power to move the page to Over 9000 but someone else deleted it for the same reason that I tagged the article for speedy deletion, so I guess I was right at the end! --Γιάννης Α. | 21:54, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

'Drive-by tagging' of Welsh language[edit]

I removed the tag you placed on the Welsh language article. 'Drive-by tagging' is not considered constuctive. Please make your case on how the article can take a 'worldwide view' of the Welsh language, on the Talk page. Other than in Chubut Province, where Welsh is spoken by around 5000 people (less than 1% of the total number of speakers), Welsh is spoken as a living language only in the UK. Please do not re-add the tag without having done this. Please consider the template notes of the tag you added , one of which says: "Please explain your concerns on the article's talk page and link to the section title of the discussion you initiate. Otherwise, other editors may remove this tag with alacrity and justified prejudice." Which is exactly what has happened. Daicaregos (talk) 19:00, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Eh, I can't be arsed to justify myself right now. Sure, I understand "drive-by-tagging" gets a tag removed most of the time, but it should have been obvious information on the Welsh settlements in Chubut Province is severely lacking at the time of writing. It is spoken by few people, but 5000 people is a crowd, and more importantly for the language, there may be a few variations. Also, the language was once spoken by most immigrants to Argentina and history never hurts an article, especially one on language. It should be obvious to anyone who has read through the article that more information is needed on the language outside Wales (it is spoken in the US as well, I believe), and I have faith that someone will edit this information in at some point. But I won't retag it since you're so angry with me, and the reason cited in the first sentence (hehe). --Γιάννης Α. | 19:16, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Category removal[edit]

Howdy. Why did you make this edit?--Rockfang (talk) 03:17, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

It seems like you’ve used the software yourself I think. Basically, it was wrong, and if you saw the subsequent edit I made to it, you’d perhaps understand. I also looked at the other category, and ManyCam most certainly did not fit into it. These were completely different things. It could be described as a peripheral, but the best classification, I believe, is “webcam”. No other category suited it, I believe, except for explicitly calling it what it is, a softcam. Of course, creating a softcam is very difficult and there is not a lot of prominent softcam software available for softcams to require their own category.
TL;DR: I did it because I strongly believe the category was incorrect. No hard feelings though, eh? --Γιάννης Α. | 19:06, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
I've never used the software. When I first saw your edit, I thought you disagreed with the "free" part of the category name. It appears you disagreed with the 2nd part of the name. I've readded a different "free" category.--Rockfang (talk) 22:11, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Do you think that edit to London Dungeon was a test/vandalism or just unsourced? Cheers! Jim1138 (talk) 21:51, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

You make a good point. That was a bad revert, I do apologise. Perhaps the whole section should be removed from the article because the company that runs it would never reveal such things to its audience, but oh well... thank you very much for your correction, I solemnly apologise for my actions.
