External links[edit]

Hello, I have noticed your addition of many links to the multimap site. Please read the wikipedia policies on spam and external links. The links need to be relevant and useful in expanding on the topic. Adding map links is not very helpful, nor it it very appropriate to be spamming articles. Please stop it. The coordinates have links to geodata and more links are not needed. The addition of the coordinates is helpful, the mindmap links, less so. Please see Template:Coord for how to correctly input the coordinates. Any questions can be left on my talk page. Thanks for your edits. Woody (talk) 19:39, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Stadiums[edit]

I see you have been creating articles on stadiums of non-League teams. I don't feel that ground below the Conference North and South are worthy of articles in their own right, and can be covered within the articles on the clubs. Previously article on the majority of grounds below this level were merged into the main articles on the clubs, and I have done that with all the stadiums in the Isthmian League with the exception of Chelmsford's (as they'll be in the Conference South next season). Regards, пﮟოьεԻ 57 12:30, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Cricket grounds[edit]

Please add Category:Cricket grounds in England to any new articles your create. Cheers, пﮟოьεԻ 57 18:11, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Your contributions are welcomed, however, one or more of the external links you added in this edit to John Carew do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thanks. Thingg 20:26, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

External links[edit]

Re: your recent addition of links to profiles at official websites. I'm not sure the links should be there at all, but certainly the section should be labelled "External links" with a small l, and not "External Links" with a capital l. Peanut4 (talk) 19:06, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

June 2008[edit]

Information.svg Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Peter Winn (footballer), did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. It is not appropriate to add information about yourself to an article. Jameboy (talk) 20:29, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Coordinates[edit]

Thank you for your valuable work adding coordinates to articles; however, they should be added using {{Coord}}, like this, and not by direct links to the toolserver, for reasons discussed at 'Direct calls to tool server'. Your cooperation will be appreciated. That will have the added advantage of making the articles concerned appear in partner projects like Google Earth & Google Maps. Replacing dead links[edit]

Hello, Jonathan Winsky. I saw your work on the September 11 attacks article. I want to inform you, if you do not already know, that you can check Internet Archive for replicas of links that have gone dead. Flyer22 (talk) 21:47, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Richmond Road ground[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Richmond Road ground has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

'Are'are language[edit]

The way to fix it is to update the x-ref to e17, but you need to be sure the new edition still supports the claim. (In most cases it will.) I updated the population data of 2,500 articles from e16 to e17 in the info box, so I didn't take the time to follow up on x-refs in the text, or to update the population claimed there. (I've been hoping for a year to get a group project going, so it wouldn't be so overwhelming, but no luck.)

BTW, a lot of times things cited to e16 are copied verbatim from Ethnologue, and may not be very encyclopedic anyway. — kwami (talk) 00:14, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

Fixing broken links[edit]

When replacing broken links, please do not overwrite the old URL; please use the appropriate parameters in {{cite web}} such as archiveurl= and archivedate=. GiantSnowman 13:46, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for taking on a tedious but very valuable job... Just to clarify on parameter usage: the |date= parameter is for the date the original webpage was published, and the |accessdate= parameter is for the date the original webpage was last accessed. They shouldn't be overwritten by the |archivedate= parameter or changed to today's date. Please keep up the good work: it's appreciated. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:12, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
You might want to know that apparently dead BBC links, like those you replaced with archive.org links at Bruno N'Gotty, can often be revived by taking the numeric part at the end of the dead url, e.g. take the 4243201 bit from http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/b/bolton_wanderers/4243201.stm and put it into a url of the form http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/4243201.stm

And a reminder that the |accessdate= parameter is for the date the original webpage was last accessed, not for the date an archived version was added to the citation. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:56, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 1[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Steve Walsh (footballer), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ITV (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Accessdate parameter[edit]

Just a reminder that the accessdate parameter is for the date when the original webpage was accessed. That date is how we tell which archived version to add to the citation when there's a choice. It isn't for the date an archive version was accessed or added to the citation. Thank you for your understanding. Struway2 (talk) 14:14, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
