Codeshares[edit]

Hi. Would you explain the inconsistancy with the current convention:

US Airways (Destinations)
US Airways operated by America West Airlines (Destinations)

and your updated convention?:

Do not list secondary carriers for code share flights. For example, if Air New Zealand operates a domestic flight under its own flight number and an additional Singapore Airlines codeshare, the codeshare can be noted for the Air NZ flight but this should not be listed as a Singapore Airlines flight.

It would be great if you answer the discussion page of WikiProject Airports.

Sentosa Express[edit]

Sentosa Express is not a monorail system! I know that many people thought it is a monorail system, however it is not.

Early discussions[edit]

Hello there Jpatokal, welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you ever need editing help visit Wikipedia:How does one edit a page or how to format them visit our manual of style. Experiment at Wikipedia:Sandbox. If you need pointers on how we title pages visit Wikipedia:Naming conventions. If you have any other questions about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the Village pump.

I especially like your articles you created about Thai politics, and I hope you will add more in the future. It would be nice if you then add them to the List of Thailand-related topics as well, as that one makes it easy to check the changes of the Thai topics. andy 10:22, 10 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Nice work on Japanese Buddhism. I might make a few minor edits, but they will be minor. I don't think the Chinese guy Obaku founded the Japanese sect Obaku -- I think they are named after the same thing. Let me know if I'm wrong.

This is all about the event of 512 (Samguk Yusa contains the same story). Nothing proves that the state of Usan occupied Liancourt Rocks. It's another Korean farfetched claim. Companies in Tokyo[edit]

Jpatokal, I'm going to have to say this. I know Chiba is not in Tokyo. It said that Kikkoman is based in nearby Chiba prefecture. You did not read what I posted there.

If we get beyond that, the fact that Kikkoman is based there should still be noted because companies based nearby are still a big draw to a city. For instance, look at the companies list for Dallas and Chicago; many companies are based not in the actual city limits but in the suburbs. Therefore, they should be noted here, in the Tokyo article as well. WhisperToMe 03:39, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I responded in talk. In addition, though I have not seen any demographics, I suspect that the situation of Chiba is much like that of Sugar Land of Houston; Sugar Land acts as both an "anchor city" and a suburb. In addition, Kikkoman's headquarters may be associated with Tokyo enough to the point where it should be listed anyway. If I see media reports from post-new headquarters that state that Kikkoman's headquarters are in Tokyo (which they are not), then Kikkoman would come back in. (EDIT: This is the only one so far: http://www.globespancapital.com/team_goldfarb.html) WhisperToMe 06:23, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Yea, sometimes when I say "Tokyo Metropolitan Area", I really mean "Greater Tokyo Area" (due to U.S. usage of "metropolitan area") WhisperToMe 06:32, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)

A reminder about the romanization used by Viz's Shonen Jump[edit]

To mark long vowels for some words in Viz's Shonen Jump, the translators use circumflexes instead of macrons to mark long vowels in the translated manga. So if you see circumflexes instead of macrons on pages related to Shonen Jump titles, please do not change them to macrons. WhisperToMe 19:45, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Perhentian Islands[edit]

Hi Jpatokal,

I too have visited Pulau Perhentian and loved it as much as you.

Vietnamese Coriander[edit]

Actually there has been a great deal of discussion about capitalization of plant names in articles. I thought perhaps the discussion had gone the other way again while I was out of circulation when you moved the article on Vietnamese Coriander to Vietnamese coriander, but when I created "Cuban oregano", User:UtherSRG promptly moved it to Cuban Oregano. Perhaps this needs to be taken up again on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tree of Life. In any case do what you want with the text of the Laksa article (my main object was to avoid redirects), but I would prefer you leave the Vietnamese Coriander article where it is at the moment. WormRunner | Talk 16:30, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)

For the record, I prefer the capitalized form. My apologies for having given you the impression I had no preferences. WormRunner | Talk 03:14, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)

NPOVing Anwar Ibrahim[edit]

You posted on the talk, and I was wondering if you could help balance out Anwar Ibrahim. I've placed the NPOV-dispute notice there as a result of several glaring omissions from the article about the government's point of view, Anwar's critics' point of view, and just about anyone's view except those who support Anwar. I've tried to NPOV it, but my edits are hampered by a lack of in-depth knowledge on Anwar and the claims of his critics. For more, you can see Talk:Anwar Ibrahim. Moving stuff from Malaysia to history and VT[edit]

Thanks for doing a move. However, a few thoughts if I may

1) Moving out everything from Malaysia after 1997 seems to imply that the history of Malaysia totally stopped in the 1990s (as if the country got towed out to sea and sunk). Would be nice if you could perhaps summarize and move ou the details yet leave the summary. Also possible to move out the entire section as a whole so that it doesn't truncate the thing.

2) The VT bit is a decision made by Mahathir overturned by the incoming government, hence a summary should be inserted should you feel that the entire chunk is too much detail.

thanks--Malbear 08:17, 21 Oct 2004 (UTC)

From Christopher Mahan on japanese company names[edit]

I am using the official company name in english, as found on their website.

TIS-620[edit]

You just created that article - but maybe you haven't noticed there's already ISO 8859-11, which covers the same character set, as the ISO followed the Thai standard. Maybe you should merge your additions there, and make TIS-620 a redirect? andy 12:12, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Well, IMHO that academic difference does not qualify for a separate article, a simple sentence in the common article would be enough. andy 12:20, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Double License[edit]

Hi Jpatokal,

I always wanted to do that anyway, thanks for reminding me. I just haven't had the time to get an overview over the licenses. I still haven't, so I'd like to ask you a question - namely, the double licensing template specifically only includes text contributions - is there any template to license images in the same way? I added a textual note to the tag, just in case.

If you like the photos, you can browse [1] for anything useful. I'd be happy to put anything you can use in the commons - just drop me a note.

I Need your help on 'Move Tsushima Islands' Issue[edit]

Hi! You appear to be an QUALIFIED interested disinterested bystander... I'm just making the rounds to everyone that has made their mark on Tsushima Islands which lead me to Fg2, (thence to Kigo, then YOU! Congrats! Booby Prize, but I badly need some responisble People to help me mediate therein that are familiar with things Japanese... Sorry, but I infer that's still YOU!) in the last month trying to mediate this flaming revert war — I can use your help — Bring lots O water! (Better yet Beer) Frank

This is the message I've been dropping on anyone on the Talk or Article pages since 13 May, I'd appreciate it if you can familarize yourself on the small article and stand-by to jump in on Tuesday with some cogent watersprays from a logical firehose! Thanks for the trouble -- the issue is trivial, (Is proper name plural or singular, Forsooth!) save there seem to be at least two teens in a war going well over three hundred edits in this one month sampling interval, over 70 edits in the past three days.
  • I would appreciate a rational explaination (after you read my Comments in the subject dispute Talk:Tsushima Islands), of the arguement or arguments you consider vital and germane to the discusion and vote. Frankly, MOST all of you are being silly over nothing of particular importance, since both names can be redirected into the one used. I have left a comment concerning my contribution to the article, which contribution — seems to have triggered the current edit and revision wars. For that I apologize, but see the Comments on the vote. I am also taking the liberty of putting the vote section AFTER the Comments about same.
  • Still, I have just spent over four hours of valuable spare time, and would welcome your thoughts after you read and understand the distinction I put forth between a governments termonology as a governing body and a geographical reference like an archepelego, which it certainly is.
  • More to the point, I'd like to see your defense regarding your favorite POV of what I had to say viz a viz the mergest attitude of the senior editors and administrators that frequent the Wikipedia:VfD discussions. To my recollection, I don't recollect any of you hotheads in this dispute ever spending anytime thereon, possibly excepting Mel Etitis, but rarely even then.
  • In any event, I'm neutral here, and have asked that the article be kept EDIT FREE for the next three days by placing The Inuse template into it — I'd copyedited over two and half hours before I suspended that effort the other night because this shameful fued was going on — proper English grammer does depend, unfortunately, on whether one uses the plural or the singular. I saved that on my hard drive, but I don't need to wade through yet another 70 edits to finish the job. As it is, this matter will probably double the time it takes for such a simple job.
  • If you are local to Japan, some history of the canals or Sea-channel is certainly germane to the ongoing discussion, moreover, any cogent arguement you condsider being particularly telling needs to be clearly repeated in the current on going comments if you want them counted on in the vote.
  • I will make sure this message goes to each contributor to the article the past month, so you are not being singled out. Now is the time to take a deep breath, for rational concise summaries, not all the arguing that is so wearisome in 66 printed pages - half a novelette, I'd guess! It's certainly a lot to ask your fellow editors to wade through on a minor issue.
  • I will also personally be making sure that at least a dozen other Administrators I'm acquainted with take a look at the debate after the time below. I will in fact ask for twenty commitments, so be clear and respectful of our time!!!
  • Thankyou for your time, attention, and good professional behaviour. I'll check the Talk state again no sooner than Monday around Noon (UTC), And ask the uninvolved others to do the same. PLEASE BE CONCISE. 24.61.229.179 03:05, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
24.61.229.179 03:05, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Well that's my heads up, and appeal -- Hope you can help. I really don't have a dog in this fight! If you can alert a few others qualified on matters Japanese, by all means, please do so!

  • I forgot to change my boiler plate - I just picked your name off Fg2's Talk on a seemingly appropo topic. Sorry for the goof! fab

Japanese clans[edit]

Hey Jpatokal!

It looks like you made a major mistake when creating articles about Japanese clans / domains, such as Aizu. A han 藩 is not a clan; its a feudal domain. Feudal domains are given to clans by the shogunate. Ruling families have their own family names, in the case of Aizu that have been 5 different, the last were the Matsudaira, feel free to check ja:会津藩 for reference. Mount Tsurugi[edit]

Hi Jpatokal,

Thanks for catching my spelling mistake. I must not have been fully awake. One thing though, I am going to change the reading of yama back to san. The mountain climbing guide book I am using as a source is very clear in in its furigana, that san is used in this case, despite my inability to differentiate ro and ru. Let me know if you have any objections. The source is 北海道貢山gaido#4 Hidaka-sanmyaku no 山yama ISBN4-89363-605-7. --imars 15:15, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the info I wonder what the Japanese Wiki is using for a source. Perhaps mine is no better. Thanks also for the suggestion about travel wiki. I may look into that some day. Hello, you are of course welcomed to help. I need organisers actually, but could you help me organise everything for the next two months, I will still be on WP, but I would like you to do the bid details. Would you mind that? Haven't contacted NUS or NTU yet, but could Suntec City or Raffles City be a good venue. Maybe we could try SMU since its in the downtown or else delegates have to go all the way out of town with very limited accessibility. List Trim[edit]

Thanks for trimming that list on the Gaijin page. I think the tags definitively labelling gaijin as perjorative and identifying it as an ethnic slur should also go: although some people choose to percieve it as such (which deserves mentions), objectively speaking it is neither.
I'm really snowed under with work this week and don't have time to write you a proper reply, and to work out our differences. Actually, we might be closer on many points than I had previously thought (and I, too, am blue-eyed and [dirty] blond—what's left, anyhow).

I would appreciate it if you do not remove the telco categories from Vanco again. I work for the company in question, and I reside in the US. It is not 'just a UK company', we have affiliates located in all of the countries in question. Rarelibra 13:00, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm not going to argue about this. Visit Vanco locations to find out more. We are incorporated in all of the countries listed. Rarelibra 13:53, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Delhi Metro map[edit]

Thanks. Regarding the airport line, i added it based on preliminary news reports according to which the line starts at ND railway station and passes through connaught place, which will be the main boarding point for check in. But due to space constraints at Rajiv chowk it wont have a connection with the metro but will be a seperate station called shivaji terminal, where baggage check in will be done. rgds -- PlaneMad|YakYak 16:29, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Multiple names in lead section[edit]

I am with you on this. I first responded in Wikipedia talk:Lead section#Names in multiple languages in lead, and I wanted to weigh in at Talk:Singapore Changi Airport, too, but there was so much discussion already that I didn't have the time to read it all. But I read that there already was a box in that article, and I completely agree with you that that should be enough. As a matter of fact, I once proposed to deprecate the in-intro parentheses. (See Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (China-related articles)/Archive1#Deprecate In-Line in favour of Box?.) Although I got more support than opposition, the opposition had more time on their hands and was so vociferous that the discussion didn't get anywhere. They even deleted the boxes where I had inserted them, as in Xiongnu. This was one of the reasons why I eventually took a long wikibreak. — Sebastian (talk) 17:11, 13 November 2006 (UTC)    (I stopped watching this page as of 21:11, 6 December 2006 (UTC). Poll: "Ryūkyū" instead of "Ryukyu"[edit]

Hello, Jpatokal. I noticed that you've previously voted in Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles)/Prefectures and macrons. A similar poll on macrons is taking place until Dec. 13 at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles)#Poll: "Ryūkyū" instead of "Ryukyu". The voting seems to be deadlocked, with many outside voters rather than frequent contributors to the WP:JP project like yourself. It would really help if you can either comment or vote there, although I'll understand if you would prefer to stay out of the controversy. Thank you for your consideration.

Diosdado Macapagal International Airport[edit]

My reason for moving Manila-Clark to Angeles City is that the airport that Tiger is serving serves Angeles City not Clark (see the infobox of the airport). For example Narita International Airport it is indeed located in Chiba but we still state Tokyo-Narita in the destination lists because the airport serves Tokyo (see infobox of airport).

Another reason is that it doesn't necessarily mean that if the airline refers to it as Manila-Clark, we should indeed state Manila-Clark, instead we should state Angeles City because DMIA serves Angeles City not Manila-Clark. For example Flyglobespan will be flying to Hamilton/John C. Munro International Airport in May of this year, and they refer to the airport as Toronto-Hamilton International Aiport[3] but in destination lists we state Hamilton, not Toronto-Hamilton because the airport clearly serves Hamilton (see infobox of the airport).

As of now I won't make any further changes. Thanks for your time. -chris^_^ 13:31, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Re:Cremation in Hinduism[edit]

Hi Jpatokal, what you said sounds correct. Within Hinduism, religious leaders such as sannyasis are often buried in salt with mausolea-like structures built over them which are called are called Samadhis - referring to the belief that they have not 'died' in the common sense of the term (i.e to be re-born) and are instead merely carrying on their samadhi (perfectional meditation) elsewhere in existence. I know very little about the other exceptions you mentioned, but do know it is also common practice to place bodies into holy rivers such as the Ganges where cremation is innapropriate, or as an alternative. Singapore Airlines article[edit]

Hi Jpatokal, as you can probably guess, I have almost had it with being unable to edit the Singapore Airlines article without hitting a brick wall with Huaiwei. You may have read on the article talk page that I have mentioned to Huaiwei, that if he continues to revert verifiable information with unverifiable info, or continues to remove dispute tags from the article (and claim that I need to get concensus to even add them), that I would file a RFC/U in regards to this. Going back thru your own history, I see that you have been involved with Huaiwei and a mediation cabal (which he didn't participate in and then claimed that he wasn't given the opportunity). Do you think that RFC/U would be appropriate in this case? You too have hit the nail on the head, in calling the fanboyism (as much as we shouldn't use that word, there is no other for it) on the SIA article, and it is holding the article back, and unfortunately is holding me back from editing other articles, such as Aeroflot, in which Huaiwei has attempted to include highly NPOV info (such as this diff for example). So I would be interested to hear your opinion on what you would do in this situation if it were me. --Russavia 17:49, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Thaksin's nickname[edit]

You say that meaw is not the Thai word for cat, but is a derogatory name for Hmong people. Question: why would Thaksin's parents give him a derogatory nickname? Maybe this is a nickname he has been given by his political enemies in Bkk, where people generally despise northerners, but it cannot be his original nickname, the one his friends and family use. So what IS his original nickname? Intelligent Mr Toad (talk) 05:03, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Excuse me for butting in, and I can't answer for Thaksin's parents et al., but the use of derogatory nicknames as a kind of shield is an extraordinarily ancient practice that likely goes back to when naming began. It should be a subject in its own write, or at least added (with scholarly references that I lack) as a major section to name. Some might consider Intelligent Mr Toad to be derogatory; my own wiki:user name, if not downright derogatory, is at best deprecatory (now I'll copy this to your talk page.) Mokichi Okada[edit]

As much as i like to uncover a religious undertaker as a Pied Piper ...
You cannot proove the source for "his fortune as a black marketeer". Shure, in Japan, during the rebuilding after 1945, the black market has ben the main market. However, apart of that, Okadas involvement is just an unproven myth here, exclusively perpetuated in wikipedia and related websites. You share a responsibility for that.
Where have you "heard" the black marketeer version? "No Source" can happen to anybody, no problem. I suggest, you retract your remark from the article, until you have a proof. I would support such remark, when the proof is doubtless. As we should reject religious POV, we equally should reject rumours and discrediting buzz.

RE: COI & edit war[edit]

Thank you for your comment earlier. Seeing both u & Pandacomics have been upholding one of the five pillars of Wikipedia on the article 'Ho Yeow Sun' all these while, I've filed a page protection request until the case is fully resolved as per talkpage discussion, in view of the on-going acts of sockpuppetry & anonymous IPs (recalcitrant sockpuppet-masters or their misguided accomplices) reverting such inclusion unabatedly even at these very moment.[4]. Do follow-up for COI or ANI resolution whichever most appropriate, as I've given final warnings to Jing 13 & Cane sg (likely sockpuppet) earlier that were ignored or circumvented. This nonsense has to end for the common good of Wikipedia in the long run. Rgds. -- Aldwinteo (talk) 08:00, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Delhi Metro[edit]

Hi dear!! I (Abhishek971) had loaded correct informations on Delhi Metro, but you have deleted many of them. I gave absolutely reliable references. Also you said that I should not refer to such sites (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's official website). Don't you think that for any project, its official website is the most reliable source !!!. I have one more doubt regarding Delhi's population as stated in wikipedia. In the list of cities proper by population, Delhi's population was grossly understated. The reference was taken from some world gazatter, which states Delhi's population at some 9.7 million. But in reality the municipal population of Delhi was 13.8 million according to the Census of India, 2001. Controversy over metropolitan population is understandable as there many different rules to calculate it, but there is no controversy over Delhi's population at all because it is the population of city proper and the city has its own government (known as Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, GNCTD or Delhi Govt.). You can yourself check it by using a search engine and keywords Delhi population (Don't use sites which give population statistics of many cities in a tabular form, as they are often misleading). You will see that 2001 population was 13.8 million, in 2004 it was 15 million, in 2006 it was 16 million and so on. According to a study by Population Reference Bureau, Washington, Delhi's (city proper) population was 16.5 million (5) in 2007 and metropolitan population was 21.5 million. Even if we consider the old census figures of 2001 (13.8 million), then also Delhi is the world's most populous city proper. I don't understand what stupid world gazatter is, which states Delhi's 2008 population as 11.5 million, even lower than 2001 population !!!!

I tried to incorporate the actual figures and cited half a dozen references but still what we see is a big lie. I hope you will help wikipedia in breaking myths and letting the world know the truth by adding correct figures from proper sites (instead of referring to a stupid site like world gazatter and others).

Redlinks[edit]

Yes have read WP:REDLINK. As I interpret it, neither an article on a traffic junction nor one on a non-notable area of Jakarta are sustainable. Please do not order me to write articles. Have you read WP:CIVIL? Davidelit (talk) 08:04, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Jpatokal, apart from the question of notability, it's a bit ironic insisting on adding red links, yet asking those who don't want them to write the article/s. This is not the Indonesia wikipedia - quality standards are much higher in terms of notability, referencing, and we don't litter articles with red links to articles that are niether notable, or likely to get written. If *you* think they are notable, then create a 1-sentence stub. If they are not notable, then others can put them up for deletion. --Merbabu (talk) 22:18, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

If you look very very carefully on the talk pages of some of the more atrocious lists on Indonesian subjects in this wikipedia you will find my sig - for a while I had a specific focus on static red link lists created that never were followed up. Its an endemic disease that has festered the credibility of the Indonesian project - and I simply removed the larger lists of red links to the talk pages, and left the linked items on mainspace - and nothing has happened - red links in the Indonesian project show what happens - a name is put up and nothing further eventuates - no editing no revisiting over a considerable length of time. Pointless, please do not create or ask for something that never happens SatuSuro 23:57, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Acision[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Acision, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TNX-Man 13:20, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Ovophis monticola edits[edit]

Hi Jpatokal, First of all I want to thank you for your recent edits to the Ovophis monticola article, specifically regarding the subspecies O. m. makazayazaya. The taxon author, Takahashi, was definitely spelled wrong (I'll let the ITIS people know about this error) and it's always a challenge to match the names of given geographic locations to Wikipedia article names. The only remark I'd like to make concerns the way in which you did that last part. Despite the fact that the geographic information was referenced, you changed the spelling for "Arishan" to "Alishan", gave "Majia" for "Makazayazaya" and completely deleted "Chuchuku." The problem with this is that, technically, you've altered referenced information with this edit. It may not seem like such a big deal, but I assure you that it is important. I've now changed the geographic range information to look like this:

Taiwan: Chuchuku, Arishan, Makazayazaya and Taipei.

Now the text is once again true to the given reference (Gumprecht et al., 2004), while the links now take the reader to the articles for the correct locations. Except for Chuchuku, these changes may seem subtle, but they make all the difference. You may also consider making a "Makazayazaya" redirect for the "Majia" article and an "Alishan" redirect for the "Arishan" article. Thanks, (PS -- Please answer here if necessary, as I've temporarily added your talk page to my watchlist). --Jwinius (talk) 12:06, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

The geographic names appear to date from Takahashi in 1922, when Taiwan was still a Japanese colony, and the names are hence in Japanese. Using them in a modern English-language encyclopedia to describe places in China (Taiwan) is like describing the range of another snake as "Preussen, Frankreich and Österreich-Ungarn".
The identity of Alishan, Majia and Taipei is not in doubt. "Chuchuku", however, is almost certainly another misspelling, and it's mangled beyond recognition.
The other problem is that any range given in 1922 is thoroughly obsolete anyway. 台湾大百科, sourced to 《台湾两栖爬行动物图鑑》 (大自然出版社,1999) and 《蛇类大惊奇》 (远流出版事业股份有限公司, 2004), gives the distribution as "大屯山区、宜兰福山、乌来、北横公路、阿里山、南横公路和屏东的玛家,都只有零星的观察纪录,可能是500至2000公尺以上中低海拔地区都有分布的蛇类", or "Datunshan, Yilan-Fushan, Wulai, Beiheng Gonglu [a highway], Alishan, Nanheng Gonglu [another highway], Pingtung-Majia and occasionally in other mountain regions between 500-2000 meters of altitude" — no mention of Taipei (which is at sea level) or anything remotely like "Chuchuku". Jpatokal (talk) 12:41, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Hey, I think it's great that you know all this and looked it all up. If what you say is correct, then I'm sure Gumprecht will have gleaned this information from old manuscripts, probably from Takahashi's, rather than based it on anything more recent. That's not surprising, as this kind of research is full of old names, especially when it comes to rare species and type locality descriptions that are up to 250 years old. However, all I wanted to say is that, as long as we don't have any better sources for the geographic range of this subspecies (or any other taxon), we should strive to remain faithful to the references that we have and not be tempted to substitute that information with whatever we think is more appropriate; something that could possibly be interpreted as original research. The way it is now is perfect, because it is not only an accurate reflection of the source material mentioned, but also shows that we've done our best to link those old names to their current localities. As for where the mysterious Chuchuku is, maybe somebody else will have an idea about that later on, but in the mean time we should follow Gumprecht's example and leave that up to the reader's imagination. --Jwinius (talk) 13:28, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I appreciate your reading of the article, but I had to revert some changes. It was the black needles, not "black marks" (marks on what?), that astonished Lim's clients. Furthermore, the article is following the sources for the information on the Siamese deity Lim used. As there is very little reliable information on who or what Pragngan is (which Wikipedia also lacks an article on), I would advise refraining from redefining what the deity was said to be. Kwangmyŏngsŏng-2[edit]

Thank you for this edit to the Kwangmyŏngsŏng-2 article. I was interested to know the official name of the rocket used, and did not see it when I read it. A Google news search found that recent news articles continued to refer to the launch vehicle as the Taepodong-2, which surprised me, given the DPRK government's position that this was a peaceful satellite launch. Nonetheless, since that was what seemed to be what was being reported, that's what I used. In retrospect, I should have done a different news search! I'm glad to see you correct the name and add the KCNA news report and Unha-2 Wiki article reference. They add tremendously to my understanding of the incident. Ho Sun[edit]

Please do not revert this edit. It is factually incorrect to call her "music director" when David Yem was music director while she was Worship Pastor. The cited reference of Derek Dunn's "personal communication" is completely incorrect and unverifiable. I have listed two other references - music director David Yem, and Richard Fowler as well as Derek Dunn. You will not find any online refutations to this, other than Sun's interview where she said she's not a "preacher". So please do not revert this and turn this into an edit war.

"We want church music to cross over and impact the marketplace in the area of arts and the media. So that as a church, we can be relevant to society and we can touch the hearts and spirits of both young and old and through that, allow them to feel the anointing and feel the heart of God wants to say to the heart of the world, through the church. ”

Delhi Metro[edit]

This is with reference to your post regarding updating of the length and no. of stations in the Delhi MRTS article. You have mentioned that the reference article mentions 67 stations, but after opening of Yamuna Bank station on May 10, 2009, the no. of stations increased to 68 and the track length increased by 2.1 km to 76.7 km. These updated figured are already mentioned in the wikipedia article in the operating lines section, but the box was showing older figures, the reason for which I updated it. I could not find an article on net which could show news about opening of Yamuna Bank station along with the new length simultaneously. If the dispute is still ongoing, I would suggest reaching out to the other interested editors and request their participation, or at least request a response to the proposed mediation. Proposed deletion of Barack Obama Joker poster[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Barack Obama Joker poster has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This was a very minor passing incident of no lasting importance.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing dated prod will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Steve Dufour (talk) 02:50, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Lots of things are extensively covered by the media but are not of any lasting importance. I don't feel like spending the time on an AfD however so I will leave the article alone. Steve Dufour (talk) 03:08, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Macrons[edit]

Wikipedia:MOS-JA#Names_of_modern_figures reads that the Hepburn name with macrons is to be the last possible choice for the name of modern Japanese figures. First choice is the person's legal name in English. Second is a name form existing in a dictionary. Third (and fourth) is the spelling in the Latin alphabet the subject of the article has chosen. To use your example, The Prince of Darkness (talk · contribs) and his false assumptions of what WP:MOS-JA says, he'd move Yasuhiro Nightow to "Yasuhiro Naitō", Masamune Shirow to "Masamune Shirō", and Tite Kubo to "Taito Kubo". Merely because Yoko Kanno and Ryuichi Sakamoto don't use methods of writing their name in the Latin alphabet like Nightow, Shirow, or Kubo, does not mean that we should default to the Hepburn system of writing their name.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 03:54, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Your rant is misguided, factually incorrect, and in the wrong place. Jpatokal (talk) 05:21, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
No, no, and maybe. I am telling you how I believe the guideline is currently written (use the subject's preferred spelling over Hepburn), how it has been applied (to these various pages), how TPoD would treat these other articles, and how I believe you were wrong in your assumptions on the other page. Rather than make a non sequitur in the discussion at WT:MOS-JA, I would rather explain myself moreso here.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 05:37, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Your slander[edit]

I consider your comment left to the talk page of Gavinhudson (talk · contribs) is a malicious slander and WP:Harassment as well as inappropriate WP:CANVASS to degrade my edits and intention. The phase, "liberal dose of kimchi" is also considered "racist attack". There is no reason for you to do such inappropriate behavior repeatedly as opposed to your claim for WP:AGF. Please don't this, and focus on "contents", not ad hominem. If you repeat the inappropriate behavior, you will take the responsibility. FYI, please check on how the initiator of the thread has been doing these days and my long-term opponent. --Caspian blue 14:51, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Ho hum.
First, you have absolutely no business deleting my comments from a third party's page. I suggest you apologize to Gavin and me.
Second, you have been banned from editing Korean topics in the past. Yes or no?
Third, WP:CANVASS is the practice of bringing in others, but Gavin is already involved.
Fourth, please read Grain of salt and It's a Joke, Son! before you cry "Racist!" again. Jpatokal (talk) 15:19, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Read WP:No personal attack and WP:Harassment as you have been engaged in. You should get the fact straight. I've never been topic-banned from editing Korean topics. So your bogus accusation shows well how your ill faith led you the reckless action. Moreover, the canvassing should be written neutrally about the ongoing discussion on the content not ad hominem and racist comment. So you've are proven wrong repeatedly. Your assuming good faith comment is also very hypercritical. If you do not care about improving the article, you can walk away from the article. Please don't ever think that harassing of me would do good for you.--Caspian blue 16:07, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
You're still harassing me again with the bogus accusation. I've never been topic-banned from editing Korean topics, and you're spreading it with your malicious slander. This would be the last warning.--Caspian blue 16:16, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Since you do not realize how wrong you're doing, I have no reason to put up with the insults. You have been falsely accusing that I was banned from editing Korean subjects by WP:Canvassing the racist slander. Moreover, you have no reason to bully me with the past totally irrelevant to the topic in question.--Caspian blue 01:34, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
ANI gave you a 6-month topic ban for Korea-related articles in January 2009. True or false? Jpatokal (talk) 02:09, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
Oh, what a Spanish Inquisition. I've never been topic-ban from Korea-related articles, so please re-read the ANI thread again and do not spread your bogus accusations to others for your ill agenda. If that were true, I would not obtain many DYKs from Korean subjects since Jan. 2009. You can ask Tzanaki (talk · contribs) about the ANI and don't forget to bring with the diff of your racist slur against me. --Caspian blue 02:36, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
Ah! My apologies. Here's the exact wording: Caspian Blue is topicbanned from all articles relating to Japan, and all editing concerning Japan within other articles and projectspace, broadly construed, and Sennen goroshi was banned from Korea articles, in an attempt to keep you to away from each other. Hi Jpatokal,

I'm growing increasingly concerned about the actions of User:Cenwin88lee. Despite my repeated pleas, he continues to remove well-sourced content from articles without giving a good reason, often replacing it with irrelevant, unsourced information that appears to be OR.

In addition, I just noticed that he made a personal attack against you on Talk:Culture of Singapore, then laterblanked the talk page, including your comments, with no edit summary.

Here are just a handful of the edits that are causing me concern:

I know I've seen you around Wikipedia (and Wikitravel?) before, so I thought I'd solicit your advice. What do you think should be done in this situation? Your remark re: "mangling references"[edit]

The so-called mangled references work perfectly well and are in accordance with MOS. In addition, AWB suggests renaming in the case of multiple identical links and so I consider it good practice. LilHelpa (talk) 12:00, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

オウ[edit]

I do not know where you are pulling this from, but WP:MOS-JA was never modified after the souru/sōru discussions to say that if a word is written in katakana and uses the オウ sound combination, it is to be written as ou in revised Hepburn, particularly because it will be impossible to determine when the phoneme is not supposed to be the long O sound which it is most often (Seoul and Soul being homonyms in Japanese does not exclude soul and sole as homophones).

Also the Ryukyuan languages don't have a standardized romanization method. The island is ウチナー and it's written universally as Uchinaa, because for the most part the Ryukyuan languages are voicing/vowel switches from standard Japanese (O's become U's, K's become G's, the W goes away).—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 09:16, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style_(Japan-related_articles)#Other_languages Jpatokal (talk) 09:34, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Also disputed is for articles, and you are currently the only one who has an issue with this.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 09:46, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

3RR & Tag team[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice.

You are likely violate wikiepdai guideline.

Is it your only revert reason?[17]

Your behavior and bad faith / keep reverting edits are not acceptable.

Revert only when necessary

Don't revert due to "no consensus"

Wikipedia:Tag team Tag teaming (sometimes also called a "Travelling Circus") is a controversial[1] form of meatpuppetry in which editors coordinate their actions to circumvent the normal process of consensus. Re: FMSR[edit]

While I applaud your decision to publish obscure but historically significant material, the article I was working on is far from finished, which is why I restrained from moving it to the mainspace (compare with drafts of the Johore Wooden Railway and Muar State Railway, which I considered nearly ready for publishing, but felt that it needed a few more solid sources so that they could be listed on DYKs). And since I've very much inactive, there is very little chance that any Malaysian will pick up where I left off, seeing how they're generally intellectually deficient and incapable of researching history that isn't sanctioned by the government.

Call me cynical, but having worked on Wikipedia for years and continued reading it after my inactivity, I seriously doubt anything related to that country will ever be as comprehensive as that little dot down south. Not even politics. - Two hundred percent (talk) 10:42, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Copyright problems- KTX[edit]

I've left a message on the talk page of KTX suggesting that the copyright problems be resolved first, then deal with any editing issues. As such it would be helpful if you could help with this - ie in edits in the next short time period, (until editors agree that there are no copyright issues in the article) should only remove copyright violations, and not any other material at the same time.

It seems to me that the article will be a good one no matter what 'editor version' is used, and that the issues are fairly minor, but have got out of hand.

I've left similar messages on other talk pages. Thanks.Sf5xeplus (talk) 22:01, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

And long before Pmanderson and you suddenly thought that any edits I made to the wording of the manual of style had no consensus, the practice of the Japanese project was to use the more common name unless there is a name officially utilized by the subject (be it a biography or a translated title). There was nothing wrong with my move of Makiko Ohmoto, particularly when the last move was performed before the guideline was re-examined to cover official spellings or the personal preferences of the subject three years ago.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 10:10, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

WP:MOS-JA[edit]

Unless you actually edit articles concerning Japan, do not revert me or anyone else on WP:MOS-JA again. All I did was remove the "wave-dash" example because it is currently under discussion it on the talk page. It is better to have examples that do have consensus rather than examples which do not. If Nihonjoe, who originally modified that piece of the guideline had any issue with it he would have brought it up.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 02:24, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

I regret to inform you that you do not own MOS-JA. Jpatokal (talk) 06:18, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

I did not change any policy. The wave dash is not a non-language character (Nihonjoe is the only one who says it is). I have only removed the text concerning wave dash because it is already mentioned in the other section. Saying the star and heart are prohibited is better than saying the wave dash which was only added by Nihonjoe in response to one of the threads on the talk page. My edits do not make it appear that the wave dash is allowed in article titles. Please don't blanket revert because you think every edit I make to that page has no consensus. Bring it to the talk page like a normal editor.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 06:31, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Taiwan High Speed Rail[edit]

Hello,

recently at Talk:Taiwan High Speed Rail, I and User:Multivariable have been discussing potential improvements of the article with view to a Featured Article nomination. However, apart from the Guild of CE, so far it was only the two of us discussing, and we would like to hear more opinions. (In particular, about the photo selection.) You have been a substantial editor of the article in the past, so I hope that you still take an interest in the subject, and I also gather that you are a rather experienced editor (surely compared to me), hence I would like to invite you to join in that discussion. --Rontombontom (talk) 12:42, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

869 earthquake and tsunami[edit]

Hi Jpatokal,

I've left a comment on the talk page regarding naming this event. I had understood that for articles about historical events in Japan it was normal practise to include the era name, although the actual year is still required for clarity as in the 1854 Ansei-Tokai earthquake. I would have appreciated the chance to comment before the move. Mikenorton (talk) 08:13, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Indonesia banknotes[edit]

I saw on the ANI board about the incident you and Delta had about the Indonesia banknotes. I did some quick digging around from the links that you gave me and even from reading the law, the only thing Article 12 states that is public domain is legal code, court decisions and government speeches. The next section states that there is no copyright infringement if the symbols of the state (coat of arms and anthem) if used in their original form. I did not see anything for currency, unless you were thinking for the copyright terms. If you were thinking along those lines of copyright terms, the currency banknotes and coins have a term of 50 years after publication http://www.wipo.int/wipolex/en/text.jsp?file_id=189721.. However, I would suggest to not add the currency images again until this issue is settled (or perhaps make a composite like http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Indonesian_Rupiah_%28IDR%29_banknotes2009.jpg so you can still have the front side of the banknotes, but only use 1 image instead of many. Edit warring on Joseon Dynasty[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Joseon Dynasty. Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. rʨanaɢ (talk) 04:57, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

I've archived this discussion. Think carefully before taking action if you're thinking of unarchiving the discussion. The ongoing issue you are having has nothing to do with Δ at this point. There is discussion happening regarding the copyright status of the notes, and Δ's actions that spurred that discussion are well in the past. There is no ongoing action happening by Δ regarding this event, and posting to this noticeboard is therefore irrelevant. You're well aware of other venues to discuss the copyright status of these images, and where such discussion is happening. Please avail yourself of those opportunities. Question[edit]

  • Per WP:Drama & WP:FORUM
  • What was this revert for? Being a seasoned editor such as you and me, it is our duty to ask him to get straight to the point instead of letting him make such an irresponsible or rushed remark, as he defends it. Anyway, I've closed the thread and asked him to either mind his own business OR start a new thread that can actually help to resolve the issue by inviting them two loggerheads to discuss it. No hard feelings towards you, I just want to keep everybody focused here. Best. --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 02:43, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
Unless there's some history here, which I seem to be unable to find with a cursory glance, you're going way overboard with your attempts to squelch discussion on Talk:Singapore. To me, it looks like Chipmunkdavis and Smilingfrog are still very much editwarring (last reverts June 11, after discussion on June 10) and B3virq3b is, quite reasonably, asking what the issue is and what to do about it. This has nothing at all do with WP:FORUM, which is discussion unrelated to WP, eg. "Singapore rules" or "Singapore sucks", and threatening to block him (WTF!?) is completely and totally uncalled for; if you do proceed with blocking him, you will need to explain why at RFC/U. Jpatokal (talk) 05:44, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
  • Perhaps, you're not getting what I said. The fault lies in his tone and the way he titled it, I would have invited the both of them to sit down to discuss/talk about it and let them carry on with that process. But, what is unacceptable is that played-up (read WP:Drama) tone of his. Either one helps to defuse the tension or stay the hell away, not add fuel to the fire by asking stupid question. Agreed? There is no need to block him, as yet, due to the fact that he hasn't crossed the line of no return. No offence but I wonder if you had really read what he had posted? --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 05:56, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
Are we really talking about the same edit here? To me, that looks like a mildly humorous statement of the obvious, in the unsaid anticipation that the parties involved would reply, and his next edit makes this intention even clearer. How did you interpret the remark, and why do you find it dramatic/offensive/stupid? Jpatokal (talk) 06:03, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
  • May be between the two of you in private, you might find it funny but I don't. The fact that the two of them are not discussing it on the talk page is an indicator that someone else should have gone to their respective talk page to invite them over to discuss it instead of beating around the bush with that stupid question of his. Stop wasting our time! Get straight to the point! Isn't that something of a clarity of objective? If one wants to help, either he goes all the way 100% or shove it. Economics isn't my forte, I stayed out simply because I believe in minding my owwn business, which aptly summarises: "Usually, it is better just to butt out and let the editors resolve the problem between themselves.." What is he doing to help? Asking a stupid question isn't going to help, but the act of him actually doing something might have change my mind about him. Else, why would I say that his words there are WP:Drama? It is as simple as we disagree to agree and agree to disagree, move on please. --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 06:31, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, I still fail to see why you're so upset by the comment, and your overreaction to it borders on hysterical. Since English is not your first language, please assume good faith if you don't understand what somebody is trying to say, instead of assuming it is an intentional provocation, a "stupid comment" or "drama". As an uninvolved party, and a native speaker of English, to me it seems quite clear that that all B3virq3b was trying to do was to get the editors to explain their positions on the talk page, which is helpful, as opposed to ignoring them and having the edit war continue, which is not helpful. Sure, explicitly asking them to do so on their talk pages might have been more helpful, but not doing so is hardly a blockable offense! I think you owe B3virq3b an apology. Oops![edit]

Hi

Sorry, I seem to have cocked up. I moved Maritime Xperiential Museum to Maritime Experiential Museum and Aquarium before putting in a page move request for an admin to over-write the problem page. I was a little surprised to find there was already a requests there from yourself :¬(

Apologies - I have made a note on the move requests page, though you may need to amend the original page to be moved from. I have also "fixed" the redirects and linked pages before finding your requests so they will all need to be redone from Maritime Experiential Museum and Aquarium -> Maritime Experiential Museum & Aquarium

Once again, sorry about that. It is a shame that there was no page move notice on the talk page itself - I moved it as a result of finding that it had been renamed after a page delete notice on my user talk page drew my attention to the article talk page Talk:Maritime Experiential Museum and Aquarium. About your question[edit]

Hi! I saw your question here. I'm not a member of any of the Wikimedia lists, so I hope that you don't mind if I answer here for simplicity. The issue seems to be this page: it took a lot of time before enough Finnish users signed up, and there is still very weak support for a Japanese project, presumably because the Japanese community appears to plan to stay with Internet Brands. I don't know exactly what's happening with the missing language versions. You might get a better answer by asking somewhere at the current Wikivoyage site instead. --Stefan2 (talk) 13:15, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

MediaWiki::Gateway question[edit]

Hi, Jpatokal. If I'm not mistaken, you maintain the Ruby framework for Mediawiki API (great job, btw). I'm currently using some Ruby scripts for wiki project stat maintenance at Meta, which in turn uses your framework. My bot was recently granted a bot flag on Meta; however, the changes it makes still show up in recent changes. I tried testing it by running the simple example script that you have at github, and even then, the bot edit was not recognized as such and showed up in recent changes. So I'm wondering if it's a framework issue. Could you please take a look and see if that might be the case? Thanks a lot in advance, Chaojoker (talk) 04:53, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

AFAIK hiding bot changes is implemented entirely on the Mediawiki side and does not depend on the bot code. Have you selected "hide bot changes" when viewing RC? Jpatokal (talk) 05:18, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
Yes, that's the default; also, if you check the contributions of the bot, there's no 'b' next to its edits to show that they were bot edits. I've ran alternative pywikipedia scripts with the same bot in another wiki project in the past, and with those it was working just fine and hiding its changes. But with the current Ruby scripts the changes are not hidden. It's very strange, which is why I tried the simple example script and still got the same problem, which got me thinking it may be related to the framework. Chaojoker (talk) 06:43, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
A-ha, apparently you do need to pass in a bot flag! [22] Adding { 'bot' => '1' } as the third argument to edit() should do the trick? Jpatokal (talk) 22:24, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your suggestion :) After various trials and errors, finally I passed the bot flag as an option for create() in gateway.rb file, and that's what finally solved it (regardless of whether the script is using edit() or create(), as both those functions eventually call on create(); passing the option to edit() even if the script was calling edit() would still cause the same problem). So here's the code I have right now that works:
    def create(title, content, options={})
      form_data = {'action' => 'edit', 'title' => title, 'bot' => true, 'text' => content, 'summary' => (options[:summary] || ""), 'token' => get_token('edit', title)}
      form_data['createonly'] = "" unless options[:overwrite]
      form_data['section'] = options[:section].to_s if options[:section]
      make_api_request(form_data)
    end
I think it would be useful to to alter the gateway.rb code at github to have the bot flag passed on by default so that others won't run into a similar problem. Thank you so much again for all your help :) Chaojoker (talk) 06:16, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Romanization[edit]

Hi. I decided to restart an old, painful discussion about romanization you were involved in three and half years ago. This time I gave real substance to the discussion. I appreciate if you join me: Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Japan-related articles#No standards, only deliberate differentiation and Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Japan-related articles#No standards outside Wikipedia, no standards in Wikipedia. --Nanshu (talk) 14:04, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of CSD[edit]

A tag has been placed on CSD requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. AH999 (talk) 23:50, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

Hello Jpatokal[edit]

I just wanted to let you know that I added more information on the wikipedia page for "Dazai Osamu." Seeing as you've edited a good chunk of it, I wanted to receive some feedback on the changes I made. I mostly just added onto the introduction section of the page and some bits and pieces here and there. Let me know what you think! Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanfran909 (talkcontribs) 00:51, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
