Ledge raids article[edit]

Hi, saw your fix of the dollar signs etc on BC Legislature Raids. It doesn't seem you're in BC but I thought I should apprise you of the publication ban that has been placed on this case; it won't affect edits made by contributors outside Canada, and I'm uncertain if it affects editors (such as myself) who are geographically outside BC (but within Canada). The court case is finally about to start, but reporting on it is going to get very tricky; in recent weeks I've been pondering expanding the article considerably, which is long overdue, but now I'm uncertain whether I'm legally allowed to. Known evidence, defence pleadings, reasons for judgement etc which were not heard in the presence of the jury are technically now covered by the publication ban (even though they're already out there online somewhere, primarily in that blog or in http://www.bctrialofbasi-virk.blogspot.com); the SCBC has itself pulled down its own records of decisions already made in the case; the story is not just about what's known, it's about what's speculated, and the extent of what is either believed, or has been shown, in blogspace.....technically even my communicating to you is a form of "publication", and I'm uncertain if a US editor attending hearings in the courtroom could drive back across the line to make report from a US IP address.....it's a very dicey situation, very worrisome.....I realize you were just doing a stylefix, but thought I'd better apprise you of the difficulties posed by any further expansion of the article (which should probably have the current-case template put back on it, even though nobody - in Canada - is legally allowed to edit it further..."until further order of the Court".....Skookum1 (talk) 01:02, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
