A tag has been placed on Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. =Status and Advice[edit]

Another administrator removed the deletion tag; I agree. But there are some problems--the articles has the tone of a press release or web page, and needs a revision into the concise style of an encyclopedia article. I urge you to revise the article, looking to see the simplest and most direct way of expressing things; if necessary,it shall be done for you. The article must describe what the center does, not expound on the importance of the subjects it covers.

In addition, the article needs references. Some are implied in the article, but all quotes must be sourced to references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. Additionally, I removed the bio material--Ash, as is appropriate, already has a separate article.

But there is something even more important. The material gives me the impression of being copied from some other publication, possibly a web site. This is unacceptable -- first it's a copyright violation, but, even if you own the material and give us permission according to WP:DCM, the tone will not be encyclopedic and the material will need very considerable revision--as this does. I have not yet checked; I want to first give you a chance to rewrite (rewrite, not paraphrase), but unless this is immediately done, the article is likely to be immediately deleted.

I need to advise you also that centers within academic departments or schools rarely have separate articles--the consensus here is against it except for the very most important of them. This may well be among them, but do not be surprised if it is challenged.

I shall look back at it in a day or two. DGG ( talk ) 22:54, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
