King, North Carolina[edit]

Your assertion that the Rock House is nowhere near King, North Carolina, is in error. If you read the discussion under way at the appropriate Talk Page of the article on King, you will see that in fact there are only two listings under King for the National Register of Historic Places in Stokes County. The Correct Information[edit]

Let me clear this up. I live in King, North Carolina and I'm a member of the Stokes County Historical Society, which owns "The Rock House." "The Rock House" and its history has nothing to do with the history of King, North Carolina and should not be filed under the History section on the King, NC Wikipedia page. "The Rock House" is physically located on Col. Martin Road in Pinnacle, North Carolina, nearly 17 miles away from King, North Carolina. Click here to see a Google map showing "The Rock House" is not in King, North Carolina and should not be included on its Wikipedia page. My suggestion is "The Rock House" needs its own Wikipedia page.

While I applaud your parochialism, please keep in mind that the Rock House antedates the creation of Stokes County, which wasn't created until 1789. King, North Carolina, wasn't created until nearly a century after that (1888).[1]. The National Register of Historic Places lists the Rock House under the King designation, which means the house merits inclusion there. Stokes County's own web sites make mention of the Rock House several times. [2][3][4], and the house and its owner merit inclusion in many histories of the region. [5] [6] [7] [8] [9][10] I suggest that because the Rock House, called "one of the oldest structures in Stokes County" by the Winston-Salem Journal, predates the settlement of King by over a century, it thus merits inclusion on the entry of the nearest present-day community. If you believe the Rock House merits inclusion on the entry of the nearest present-day community, - then it rightfully belongs in the History of Pinnacle, North Carolina which is only 8 miles away, not King, North Carolina which is nearly 17 miles away. MarmadukePercy, do you live here, have you ever been to King, North Carolina??? ...because if you had you would know you are wrong. In fact I dare you to call the contacts above to verify the truth. Yes, I have been to the Rock House and believed that it was best listed under King as that is where the National Registry puts it. However, on checking further with authorities in Stokes, I find the actual address is listed as 1041 Col. Martin Road, Pinnacle, NC.
