A tag has been placed on Destil Trappers, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable (see the guidelines for notability here). If you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please write {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, articles #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. MER-C 09:28, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FC Groningen[edit]

Hi, do you know where can we check the squad numbers ? thanks. Jor70 11:24, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good evening. Per the discussion about privacy concerns expressed at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Privacy of birthdays, date of birth should generally not be added to the biographies of living non-public or semi-public figures. So far, that policy has been interpreted fairly strictly with a pretty high bar being set for the definition of "public figures" who are assumed to have given up their rights to privacy.

By the same token, we should not be adding Category:Date of birth missing to articles unless we have made the case that the person meets the "public figures" threshold. Otherwise, we're just baiting new users into adding content even though the community has already said that we shouldn't include that particular data point. Category:Year of birth missing is okay but the exact date is often not. Thanks for your help. Rossami (talk) 23:32, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it would help if you gave me a few examples of the people that you consider to be clearly "public". I've been doing a lot of work cleaning up that category and I can tell you that there were definitely some non-public people on the list. I would urge you, though, to read the policy page. The bar has been set pretty high for those who are truly "public" figures. They have to be people who have taken a deliberate action to publicize themselves pretty aggressively. National-level politicians, international-level actors, etc. Much below that level quickly gets debatable. And while we should sort those debates out on the article talk pages, the policy requires us to err on the side of protecting privacy.
Your closing comment was "If the person wants to keep this information about him/her a secret it will probably never appear as it is not known." Unfortunately, that is not the case. Birthdates are often knowable if you take the time and effort to look. (You could, for example, research my background, make some guesses about where I was born, go in person to the county courthouse and pay your $2 and get a copy of my birth certificate.) The physical barriers to access provide some protection for the person's privacy. When we publish a birthdate electronically on the 14th most popular website in the world, however, you have removed all barriers and implied protections.
Tony Blair's birthday is known. Tony Blair also has staff who watch his accounts and who are on the lookout for identity theft. Some top-name sports stars are equally famous and also pay for the extra protection. Tom Corcoran, on the other hand, probably doesn't even know that he has a Wikipedia article, much less that someone was looking to find and publish his birthdate. I would seriously doubt that he the extra precautions that a truly public figure would consider normal. Rossami (talk) 05:17, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Laura Rhoney, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. RHB 16:07, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Given all the work you did creating basic articles for everyone notable in the 2006 WPA Men's World Nine-ball Championship, I thought I would extend an invitation to join WikiProject Cue sports. We can certainly use more people with your level of attention to detail and competion of a project once started. — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 00:46, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Job Bulters, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Danish footballers[edit]

When you have made infoboxes for other Danish footballers (as fore example Ivan Nielsen), you have included statistics for their club careers - but no sources are given for these stats. Could you please either provide a link for the data, or write which book you have it from? Thank you. Poulsen 07:47, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent, thanks so much :) Poulsen 07:53, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Armeinan football clubs - good new work but please state your sources. Why are you getting the info from? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 12:46, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also please add all the new clubs to List of football clubs in Armenia thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 12:48, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK then try to add an external link -surely there must be an online reference somewhere. The coverage of teams in Armenia was pretty poor -its great you are filling in the picture ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 12:50, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As long as you give some link to back it up - it is just to verify it - the open nature of wikipedia means that this is very important as otherwise anybody can create something. I don't know whether you know but a new department of wikipedia has recently started to address criticism of this to ensure that every article is referenced and reliably sourced ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 12:59, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thats fine. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 13:15, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another thing is to link articles. E.g see the Kapan page. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 13:17, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

E.g a section on the main Yerevan article Sport - linking the Yerevan footabll clubs. All the best - I'll leave you to it now ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 13:21, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Foreign footballers playing for Dutch teams[edit]

I don't think they should be included in WikiProject Netherlands, because they are only tangentially related to the Netherlands. Having said that, we may include them in a new WikiProject, Dutch football, as a daughter of both WikiProject Netherlands and WikiProject Football. Such a WikiProject would also cover Dutch footballers, managers, stadiums, competitions, football clubs and national teams. AecisBrievenbus 21:31, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In that case, shall we propose Wikipedia:WikiProject Dutch football? AecisBrievenbus 21:53, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed[edit]

Hi, seeing as you edit Dutch football-related articles a lot, would it be possible for you to give Piet Hamberg some editing? Punkmorten 21:17, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've heard of pinch hitter, in baseball but never in football. If it's a popular phrase in the Netherlands then I've no qualms about it being in his article. I thought you might have been an American soccer fan trying to introduce baseball language into an article about a European footballer. - Dudesleeper · Talk 11:08, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies on that. I was using an automatic spelling checker, so it (understandably) didn't realise that Sherif was a name, not a rank (Sheriff). Thanks for reverting, and happy editing! Giggy UCP 22:08, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it is not only "my" information. There was a long discussion about the squads from the 1912 tournament: Football at the 1912 Summer Olympics - Men's team squads. Part of it you can see here: [1]. Also there exist a book about all international football games, which also includes the squads from 1912. Sorrily I do not have this book. The name is something like: Full list of international soccer games? I hope this is helpful :) Doma-w 14:02, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Giovanni van Bronckhorst[edit]

Yes, I was not only counting domestic league appearances. I don't get why count just domestic leagues, that's so far from reality. Also, the information is wrong since there is no direct reference about that count and the key for "App (Gls)*" is "* Appearances (Goals)". For readers, "Appearances" means any appearance (even friendlies), not only domestic leagues. Please, if you want keep that way, place a direct reference or change the key to something like "* Appearances (Goals) Only domestic league". Thanks.--ClaudioMB 17:28, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's weird count only domestic league appearances, but, it wouldn't be wrong if there is an explanation. However, count only domestic league appearances and show as appearances, without any explanation about that, that's is very wrong, because that is wrong information. If it's wrong information, it does not matter what the community wants, the information is wrong and must be changed. Tell me how the readers (the most important people for Wikipedia) will understand when they read that information, they will say "oh yes, appearances means domestic league appearances, not all appearances". Also, if other players' articles are also wrong, all of them should be changed. I've changed all players from FC Barcelona. I repeat here, it's only necessary explain what appearances is that about, do not need change the numbers. Thanks. --ClaudioMB 23:05, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There is no need to discuss a correction of a wrong information, Wikipedia does not belong to the community. Anyone could fix anything without ask the permission from anyone else. But, as I was going to fix the information, I read the observation 1 for Senior clubs. There, there is a specification for appearances. That's awkward, since there is an observation for App (Gls), where the specification for appearances should be. An observation for Senior clubs should explaining something about Senior clubs, not appearances and goals. It's not good, but, at least, it is there. So, I apologize for my mistake. What I'll do, it's to ask for a change in the box observations to fix that misplaced information. Just one more thing, it's wrong and dangerous to believe everyone should do what a community wants. Any community couldn't ever have supreme power. If it is wrong, it's wrong, period. Thanks. --ClaudioMB 00:38, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem at all. I'll try to put it in another away. If you look the infobox of Giovanni van Bronckhorst's article or any other player's article, the title for the appearances and goals is "App (Gls)*". If you read on the bottom what the * is about, it says "* Appearances (Goals)". It does not mention anything about only domestic league appearances. Just above the "App (Gls)*" title, there is the "Senior clubs1" title for that part of the box. If you read what the number 1 is about, you read "1 Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only". There, you have the information about the domestic league only appearances. I'm wondering if you ask 10 people to read that and tell how many times Gio played for FC Barcelona, how many you'll say "he played 105 times, but just domestic league games" or "he played 105 times". Like I said before, it's not wrong because the information is there, but could be misread for readers that are looking for a specific club appearance. I'll try to discuss this in the discussion page of Template:Football_player_infobox. I would never change that before a discussion, because it's not about fix something, but improve it.--ClaudioMB 14:17, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rinus Michels Award[edit]

—The preceding unsigned comment was added by AFCA (talkcontribs) 15:50, August 23, 2007 (UTC).

Notability of Ariën Pietersma[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Ariën Pietersma, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Ariën Pietersma seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Ariën Pietersma, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. The article Jordi van Bremen has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about athlete who hasn't played in a fully-pro league and which fails the general notability guideline.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Nomination of Roy Apancho for deletion[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article Roy Apancho, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Roy Apancho until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. The WordsmithCommunicate 21:40, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ryu Seong-woo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 15:29, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
