SPEEDY DELETION NOMINATION OF: "The Biggest Loser Couples 4 (FAKE)"

Previously deleted articles from AfD can be WP:SPEEDY deleted

FYI - if the article was previously deleted from an AfD [1], it is a candidate for speedy deletion WP:SPEEDY (G4 i think) Db-repost Active Banana (talk) 16:34, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

I'm aware of G4; however, the previous deletion was over 2 years ago and one of the criteria for G4 is that it is substantially similar to the deleted version. Without knowledge of what the deleted version looked like, I opted for a second AfD. —KuyaBriBriTalk 16:38, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

re: Proposed deletion of 1906 (film)

Are you sure that it is ineligible for prod, even when the result of the previous AfD was delete? The Hero of This Nation (talk) 19:40, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

The policy states that the article fails prod if it has been discussed at AfD. I interpret this to mean that even if the result of said AfD was "delete", the article cannot be deleted via prod. Either way, I am not opposed to the deletion of this article and only removed the prod as a procedural step. I'm pretty sure it won't survive an AfD. —KuyaBriBriTalk 20:42, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Hey I wanted to see what you think.

I recently edited an article cld "Captive Children" or possib ly "Children in Captivity" im thinking looking by the discussion Im not the only one. It used to have names of children in various kidnapping cases. Now some of those are eraded and instead many names of detainees from guatanomo bay are added. Now, they are in captivity, but not illegally so. Whats mnore, i don't know exactly what is going on with the article. Can you look and decide if it looks right or not? Just asking. Im not sure what to think. Oh, my edits got reversed like all the others, btw. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lollipopfop (talkcontribs) 04:19, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Collaborative news on quippd

Hey, I noticed that you had recently edited the Omar Khadr article, and I hoped that you could help out on another collaborative community edited project.

I run quippd, a collaboratively edited social news site, which mixes elements of Wikis, social networking, and social news sites. You can get some more information about what we are doing at: http://quippd.com/about/intro

Basically, we want to get good coverage on news stories, collaboratively edited, like Wikipedia. We are trying to take the ideas of WikiFactCheck -- to make news less biased and speedier (unlike something like Wikinews).

I hope you check us out -- and feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Prod vs Afd

Thanks for fixing that for me. I was trying to put the notification on the page itself, but I guess I put the wrong one on. How long does it need to be in Afd before it can be deleted? Looks like no one has weighed in on the discussion yet... -Bonus Onus (talk) 02:47, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

The standard for AfD is 7 days, though it can be shorter, e.g., if it meets speedy deletion criteria, or longer if it needs to be re-listed to get consensus. —KuyaBriBriTalk 13:48, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

I removed your speedy tag and added information. Bearian (talk) 22:48, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

PROD

In the edit history of Roundness (geology) you removed the Prod tag with the comment -"inappropriately used dated prod template". What do you mean the PROD tag was inappropriately used. At the moment I do not agree with your comment. However, I am interested in why you think the tag was not appropriately used. ---- Steve Quinn (talk) 17:45, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

No need for a more elaborate response. Apparently we were messaging each other on each other's talk page at the same time. The short explanation you gave is understandable and wholly reasonable. It is as if you read my mind :). Thanks for your time. ---- Steve Quinn (talk) 17:51, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
I should at least explain my comment about the "inappropriately used dated prod template", which I'm assuming refers to the edit summary of this edit. That edit was a reversion of this edit by the article creator, in which he inappropriately (and inexplicably) directly inserted the {{dated prod}} template. I asked for clarification on his talk page, which I got, and that is why I took the action as I explained on your talk page. I should also note that I completely forgot to note that I removed your prod in the edit summary when I actually did ([2]). —KuyaBriBriTalk 18:03, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

I have commented there there Off2riorob (talk) 18:10, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

The confusion might arise from the fact the terrain where Cal Poly Pomona stands belonged to the University of California system from 1932 until 1949 Reference. I have seen the university wrongly being referred as such in other places as well. 1, 2, or 3.

Real places are almost never deleted, and in any case, ProD is the wrong process. Bearian (talk) 19:14, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

ServiceMagic AfD

Thanks for catching the non-logging of the AfD. My previous AfDs had been done automatically by Twinkle, so I was getting lazy. ScottyBerg (talk) 20:16, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

No worries. Oddly, a significant number of the non-logged AfD's I've come across were actually created using Twinkle. —KuyaBriBriTalk 21:07, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
Really? I just did a couple by Twinkle concurrently with the ServiceMagic one which I did manually, and both were logged. Sometimes Twinkle malfunctions, so it's good to know that this is one area where it doesn't always work. ScottyBerg (talk) 16:45, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Archive deletion nomination

I really don't have an issue with your removing the tag, I was unsure as to the best route to talke dealing with the archiving of material prematurely. The material has been restored to the talk page and the other editor has apparently chosen to take a wiki break. It was premature to delete as it included the results of a GA review. You could leave it as it is and I could use it in the future for archiving or we could delete it now. What do you think is best and how best to go about it? Regards, Justin talk 18:55, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Since the content has been restored to the active talk page, I have tagged it as a G6 "Housekeeping" speedy deletion. If that is declined, I see two options: 1) blank the page and leave a note to the effect of, "This is a placeholder for the next archive of Talk:Gibraltar"; or 2) list it at MfD. —KuyaBriBriTalk 19:36, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
That sounds fine to me, thank you for your help. Justin talk 19:56, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

I've removed your prodding of Illegal Activities (Animals) Act 1875. While I do believe the article should probably be deleted, it was previously prodded back in April 2007, so it is ineligible to be re-prodded. Gabbe (talk) 15:50, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

I have found this Hansard site which lists Acts of Parliament, and there is no mention of it. Will you AfD it, or shall I? Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:36, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

If it's a hoax, CSD it. But it's not

I'm following User talk:Wikindia24x7 for a few days. His district articles may be AFD firewood, there may unnecessary puffery, but Indore Zoo is not a hoax. The place exist, although there's a certain ambiguity: Chidia Ghar (Zoo), the subject of this article, is also called Kamala Nehru Park (Zoo). So says the municipal site [3]. I'd recommend you to change prod rationale for something more appropriate to the case. As you should know, a hoax verdict almost certainly leads to an indef, and it's not one of those cases.

GBC Asset Management - a division of Pembroke Management is one of the oldest 'growth' style investment managers in Canada, and should be included in Wiki. There are many other firm, with less historical significance that are included. Evidently, I have had some difficulty describing the principles the firm has practices since 1968 -- principles that distinguish its investment philosophy and strategy from the strategies used by other firms -- without sounding like an advertisement. I would appreciate any suggestions you have that would improve the piece. Cheers, (A341672 (talk) 17:47, 5 November 2010 (UTC))

Jon Hammer redirect page

I originally created Jon Hammer as a redirect to Jon Ludvig Hammer but then noticed at the former's WhatLinksHere page that it was linked to from the articles Piranha Press and List of horror films: 1980s. In those articles the name "Jon Hammer" seemed to refer to the (apparently not very notable) comic creator and someone who was once in an obscure horror movie, respectively, but because of the redirect page I had created, those links were now redirected to the article about the chess player instead of just appearing as red links as they ought to. I instantly regretted having created the redirect page in the first place but didn't know how to have it deleted, so I decided to change it into a disambiguation page to avoid having the name "Jon Hammer" link to the wrong article. As I am now an extremely infrequent contributor to Wikipedia and may not log in again for a long time, I will leave it to you to decide on the best course of action in this case. Duncan, Fraser & Bridges Insurance Agency Inc. Page Deleted -- Can you help me fix it?

Hi Kuyabribri -- Can you help me re-write my article so it can be un-deleted? I'm new to Wikipedia and I'd like to get better at this. You noted that my page was 'spam.' Is there a way to change how I word things so that it is acceptable? I'd really appreciate any help. Cordially, Cleighholder (talk) 03:16, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

First off, the official guideline concerning spam is at WP:ADVERT. User:Kuyabribri/Policies#Advertising contains some indicators I look for when looking for advertising content. Although the latter is my opinion only, it is largely based on the trends I've seen in the thousands of advertising/spam articles I've come across.
Since the article has been deleted and I am not an administrator, I don't remember exactly what flagged this article as advertising in my mind and therefore can't give you specific help on how to rewrite it. If you'd like, you can go to WP:REFUND and request that the article be undeleted and placed in your userspace to work on. Pages in the userspace are still publicly visible and subject to less scrutiny than those in the article space; however, they may still be deleted if they are blatant advertising, copyright infringements, or otherwise violate the userpage policy.
Notwithstanding everything I've just said, the article can still be deleted if it fails to meet the notability standards for inclusion of companies. Many companies simply fail these criteria and don't belong on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a directory of companies. For a list of sites that may be willing to host your content without objection, see Wikipedia:Alternative outlets. —KuyaBriBriTalk 15:08, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Therefore, I will only respond with the issues that are not identified in those notices. You indicate that copyright is the problem, when in fact it is not. Making a statement of "we are the developers, we know it's all true and therefore it doesn't need any references" just doesn't cut it.
