WELCOME TO THE CLUB[edit]

The British Library Foyer Coffee Club[edit]

This Page is for discussions how to improve Wikipedia and its articles, that is its sole purpose. Wikipedia is not a social networking site, and all discussion here will ultimately be directed solely toward the improvement of the encyclopedia.

Having said the above Hi! welcome to our page, we are small group of readers at the British Library who wish Wikipedia well.

After spending hours in the reading rooms we find that, the topics we are researching frequently come up as articles on Wikipedia at the top of a Google search. As academics its sometimes tempting to correct these Wikipedia articles, but we often find we are mercilessly edited out by the hardworking editors of Wikipedia, who mostly are non academic members of the public, coming from all walks of life, and of all ages.

It will surprise you to know Wikipedia Editors can be eight year olds, Yes there are many editors of eight years and under, as they say your dog can also be an editor at Wikipedia, and provided he does a good enough job, nobody will ever know.

Every Tinker, Tailor, Soldier sailor, Beggerman thief is here, playing the role of fastidious editor acting as gatekeepers to the Worlds knowledge, this is what makes it fun, and a great many of the articles here, are very well researched and brilliantly written. Hats off to the Editors of Wikipedia!!!

Wikipedia's thousands of Editors are marshalled by bosses, known as administrators who have the heavy task of keeping order within this large and disparate community. Since administrators are unpaid, and the role consuming much of ones day, most administrators are 'Fanatically Wikipedia' to them its not an unpaid job, its a way of life. Administrators take their duties very seriously this ilk are in love with their jobs.

Recently several us have have had our accounts temporary blocked by the zealous well intentioned administrators. As we post from the Foyer of the British library using the British Library WiFi with the same IP addresses or Block, the ever watchful editors assumed, we were all acting in concert, which they term 'sock puppetry', a terrible curse!! Administrators hurried off into a huddle, after which all our accounts were blocked.

This is the raison d'être for our club a comradery of goodwill , since we are blocked we can only edit a talk page so in future (till we are unblocked) this will be the venue for our comments and activities.

We hope this page will be full of good humor. Any reader at the British Library who is blocked by Wikipedia can joint this club.

Message for Administrator Bishonen[edit]

Hey Bishonen! How do we get one of those pictures of the beer glass!! Can you put one here x We need a thumbs up! and a celebratory drink!!

And while you are at it, can we have the top bit checked, for spelling! Citation, CoatHanging, grammar POV, WP:GOO, lower cast bias, untouchability etc...

  • Lalitshastri, I can find a glass of beer without any trouble and put it here, though maybe not in the exact x spot (positioning images is trickier than you might think). But I have to ask a question first. Are you aware that Rakeshvasishth and Padmanitrivedi have been indefinitely blocked, per standard practice? (Compare this discussion on the page of the CheckUser who handled the Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Lalitshastri investigation.) Blocked users can edit their own talkpage, nothing else. Rakeshvasishth and Padmanitrivedi can't edit here. (And if theoretically they should try, for instance by creating new accounts — which I certainly don't expect! — then they'd be in, if possible, even bigger trouble. Just don't do it.) So if you foresee a club consisting of you and them, it can't meet here. I'd recommend some instant messaging service or e-mail. Anyway, would you still like a glass of beer? You'd be most welcome. Your use of multiple Wikipedia accounts[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Lalitshastri, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

March 2014[edit]

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 2 weeks for abusing multiple accounts, see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Lalitshastri. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.  Bishonen | talk 21:46, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Photographs of Babri Masjid[edit]

Hello, a few years ago, you uploaded some photos you took of Babri Mosque from some decades ago. Do you still have them? --Joshua Issac (talk) 22:02, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
