Incomplete DYK nomination[edit]

Symbol question.svg Hello! Your submission of Template:Did you know nominations/Thea Austin at the Did You Know nominations page is not complete; see step 3 of the nomination procedure. If you do not want to continue with the nomination, tag the nomination page with {{db-g7}}, or ask a DYK admin. Thank you. DYKHousekeepingBot (talk) 09:14, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

There's a bloody good reason it isn't transcluded - it should've been done and dusted six months ago! I intend to edit {{DYKsubpage}} so that some egregiously old ones show up more quickly: Technical 13, I believe there is some way of subtracting the last few characters from a parameter (i.e. subtracting " 2014" from "June 2014" or selecting only the last few characters from it (i.e. "2014"), what am I on about?--Launchballer 20:01, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Walking Down Madison[edit]

Hi! Pleased to see someone expand this article, it was quite a way down my to-do list! I wonder if you could possibly clarify the chronology, though. You wrote that Johnny Marr had just come away from The Smiths - which I would interpret as August 1987, meaning that the song in some form pre-dates MacColl's 1989 album "Kite" (to which Marr also contributed) and was held over. It makes sense, given that had MacColl not already had "dibs" on it, it would probably have ended up as an Electronic track instead, I just wondered if you could confirm that? -- Walnuts go kapow (talk) 11:04, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Marr kept that record after mates of his nicked other records he'd played for them. It was going to be used on his own record before MacColl heard it.--Launchballer 12:46, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
