[edit] Checkuser
Hey, I'm sorry but I'm wondering. If you make a request for checkuser, does an admin do it or do you have to install checkuser yourself? Cheers, JetLover (talk) 21:49, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hi Laura
First off, thanks for all your efforts in the article for Augustus, I am shooting for GA status soon, and eventually FA status for the article. Oh, and I just moved your recently added picture down a few paragraphs since there was a bunch of text without a pic beside it, and there was already a large pic hovering directly above the one you just added. You can change it back the way it was if you don't like it. Personally, I think it looks better this way, since the images aren't stacked.--Pericles of AthensTalk 21:11, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
-
- That's a very good question, unfortunately I do not know the answer either. Hopefully it will pop up somewhere in my reading, but there's a mountain of text to read in the books I have at hand, and it may take a while to find, if found at all.--Pericles of AthensTalk 21:31, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Redirect of List of famous German-Americans
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on List of famous German-Americans, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because List of famous German-Americans is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting List of famous German-Americans, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Image:Knob and tube 1930.jpg
FYI, looks like someone is using your image, Image:Knob and tube 1930.jpg, against the licensing. See [1]. It appears they are claiming copyright of that images, and they clearly have not linked back to the original or given you credit in any form.-Andrew c [talk] 22:28, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking into this. Yeah, I thought something was fishy when I saw your user page and that you are in CO. I started a topic on commons as well (commons:Commons talk:Licensing#Someone violating our licensing? No, never!), so, if you don't mind, keep me up to date if there is any progress, so I can update or withdraw my comments over there.-Andrew c [talk] 23:08, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Usage request for you photo on Wikimedia Commons
Laura -
I'd like to use your photo of a watermelon blossom (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Watermelon_flower_and_bee.jpg)
in a free publication I am putting together for the Delaware Dept. of Agriculture. It is a booklet educating farmers about how to manage their farms for native pollinators. The initial print run will be 5,000 copies and it will be distributed free of charge and made available as a PDF document on the web. I am not able to comply strictly with the GNU license terms, so wanted to ask your direct permission to use the photo. Please respond and let me know if you grant me permission for this one-time usage.
Thanks very much.
-Matt

Laura - the credit will appear in the photo credits section at the end of the booklet, and I will be sure to send you the link once we get it up online. Thank you for your help Ammodram (talk) 16:27, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Action potential
Hey Laura,
Could I ask a favor? Could you please look over action potential and see if it explains everything OK? I'm not worried yet about MoS stuff, just whether the article is intelligible to smart people like you, and has a reasonably logical order of presentation. :) Of course, if you had any other suggestions, I'd be grateful for those as well. Thanks muchly! Willow (talk) 23:17, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hey Laura,
- We've been working on action potential pretty diligently, and it might be at Featured Article quality. Would you have time to read through the article and see if you agree? If you do, please vote Keep at its FAR; otherwise, if you could give us some ideas of what you'd like improved, that's be great. Thanks and thanks, Willow (talk) 18:54, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Commons Baraboo category rename
I have proposed a rename of the Commons category [Category:Baraboo] to Category:Baraboo, Wisconsin in order to become consistent with the naming convention used with all of the other cities in Wisconsin. That system was developed because there may be more than one Baraboo in the world. You asked to be notified here on the English Wikipedia. Royalbroil 02:32, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Light as a feather, stiff as a board
[edit] Proposed deletion of Light as a feather, stiff as a board
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Light as a feather, stiff as a board, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- The subject is not notable, discussing an obscure party game, and the writers have been unable to find any references to justify notability requirements for some time.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Kan8eDie (talk) 23:27, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit] AfD nomination of Light as a feather, stiff as a board
I have nominated Light as a feather, stiff as a board, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Light as a feather, stiff as a board. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. [edit] File:Chihuly Chandelier close-up.jpg
Hi Laura,
though it's already >3 years that you moved File:Chihuly Chandelier close-up.jpg to Commons, only now someone discovered that this image only qualifies under "fair use", but that is not allowed on Commons. As the original image seems to have been removed from :en, I strongly recommend you to upload the image again under "fair use" to :en, before it is (soon) deleted from Commons. --Túrelio (talk) 22:40, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] New image project
Hi. This little form letter is just a courtesy notice to let you know that a proposal to merge the projects Wikipedia:WikiProject Free images, Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use, Wikipedia:WikiProject Moving free images to Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia:WikiProject Illustration into the newly formed Wikipedia:WikiProject Images and Media has met with general support at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Files. Since you're on the rosters of membership in at least one of those projects, I thought you might be interested. Conversation about redirecting those projects is located here. Please participate in that discussion if you have any interest, and if you still have interest in achieving the goals of the original project, we'd love to have you join in. If you aren't interested in either the conversation or the project, please pardon the interruption. :) Thanks. Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:35, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Review request
It seems you did some work on Kiliaen van Rensselaer (Dutch merchant) a while back. I just completed a rewrite of the article and would appreciate it if you gave it a read-through and maybe left some critique comments on the talk page. Any interest? upstateNYer 17:15, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

As a former elementary teacher I like to show different views from other. In the resources section of the book I would like to include one of your photos. I will certainly give you the credit for it. The symbol in the lower right hand corner of the copper plate on the marker is the Toll Family "signature" -- "T" over the "O" over the double "L" "L". Henry W. Toll Jr. sponsored the marker. Research is underway to validate the inscription on the marker.

I am curious about the photograph you uploaded to the Commons of a World War I bombsight. I believe this is not an image of a bombsight per se, but camera set up for evaluating bombing precision. A sort of meter to see if the bomb aimer was using their bombsight correctly. Do you have any additional information on the photo? Maury Markowitz (talk) 17:55, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
