J.D. article[edit]

Greetings! It was nice to see your submissions to the JD article page. Over the past year and a half I have experienced considerable difficulties with a few wiki users which have caused me to quit contributing to the article because it was wasting my time, and because those users are intransigent. There is considerable opposition to the content of the JD article by passionate users. But since it is obvious to most that the JD is a doctorate, no really one bothers to defend the article. I am happy that you have started to contribute to the article.

Summary of the editing: After finding the J.D. article about two years ago, I found it to be in a very sorry state. There were almost no citations, contradicting content, and considerable contention over the content of the article (i.e. whether the degree is a doctorate). I found a lot of opposition in the discussion as well. There weren't many people who were defending the degree, and almost all of the participants in the discussion were arguing against the JD (mostly Wikiant, JJL and Nicholas Jackson). Therefore, when I had the spare time I did (what I believe to be) exhaustive research on the topic, which resulted in the present article (or the bulk of it). That quieted the opposition for about five or six months. But then Wikiant started up the debate again citing some of the Australian schools that stated that the JD is not a doctorate (citations that I already included in the article some time before). That resulted in a mediation session. During mediation, Wikiant objected to the pictures in the article (one of the degree certificate and one of the JD robes as used in the US) and proposed language for the "debate" section. I did not consent to all of Wikiant's suggestions, such as removing the pictures and some of the language in the "debate" section. Because mediation is not binding (a legal concept that the others didn't understand), the result of mediation relied on the consent of the parties, but JJL treated Wikiant's suggestions as a binding result of mediation. Therefore, JJL reversed all of my changes to the article that didn't conform to Wikiant's suggestions.

Recommendations for the current article: Regarding "Evidence that the JD is a doctoral level degree," please see this version. The picture of the robe is also relevant, and should be included. The present language in that section is very repetitive. Zoticogrillo (talk) 08:54, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments. You will probably find the current "debate" that has been resurrected on the JD talk page interesting. It would actually help CONSIDERABLY if you merely chimed in with an "I agree" on the discussion page, since the same old conservative editors (Wikiant and JJL) are claiming that they represent a consensus. As has been said, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good people do nothing." Zoticogrillo (talk) 10:10, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
