Orphaned non-free image File:Osgoodecrest.png[edit]

⚠
Thanks for uploading File:Osgoodecrest.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.

File:Flag of Cambodia under French protection.svg[edit]

I believe you were the one that created the image of this flag. I do believe that the image of the structure in your creation is incorrect. The depiction of Angkor Wat on the flag was not the same as it is in the current flag. Here some images I collected of the old flag: <http://imgur.com/a/3wCFQ>.--Dara (talk) 23:32, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

File:Erie County, NY Map.png[edit]

Hi, Lexicon. I hope you get this message. Can I ask how it is you created File:Erie County, NY Map.png? Did you trace it from a particular source? Powers T 02:24, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I was hoping to convert it to SVG, but the original source of the image was unclear. If you traced it from a public domain source, then we're in the clear, and I could just trace your PNG map in Inkscape. Otherwise, I'd need to go to a USGS map or something similar. Replaceable fair use File:Nunatsiavut.png[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:Nunatsiavut.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 02:03, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

Nice image[edit]

Haha, great image you made on Canada. The point of the text is to not distract attention, so what you did is funny. I made something similar for my country, so I know where you come from. I just wish I had your inventively :D --Anime Addict AA (talk) 23:27, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:PrhizzmEPcover.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:PrhizzmEPcover.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 02:34, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:PrhizzmEPcover.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:PrhizzmEPcover.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 00:12, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Canadian Crown.svg[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Canadian Crown.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the file is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. SSJ t 08:41, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

makeup vs. societies[edit]

what does the word makeup have to do with the word societies? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kuchesezik (talkcontribs) 12:07, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

--well society in a singular form would probably make it more clear for the everyday reader and be more correct than the prior in a grammatic point of view, put aside makeup — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kuchesezik (talkcontribs) 23:53, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Labflagconst.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Labflagconst.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:28, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
