Re: ADX Florence[edit]

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I believe that the edits you've done to the "notable current inmates" section of the article ADX Florence have had the effect of making the section more disorganized. The table is now much larger in width, but contains little new information. Additionally, the dates of release have been removed and the "status" and "details" columns seem to be indistinguishable. The sorting functions of the columns have also been rendered useless since there is no uniformity and there are gaps of information in the "details" columns. Also, some of the references you have listed are broken or dead. If there are specific improvements that you are looking to make to the list I would like to help, but I'm not too sure what you are trying to do. – Zntrip 23:01, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't realize you weren't finished. – Zntrip 23:31, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

No problem. I like the way you linked the Register Number directly to the BOP website, great idea.

Capital Punishment[edit]

I have reverted your edits where you appear to have deleted large sections of the page. Rmhermen (talk) 23:28, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Enrique Camarena[edit]

The only thing that was established with Enrique Camarena is that political correctness in USA (only) prompted the nickname change, as shown in Google results. Following this, and WP:COMMONNAME I will allow your edit. Please discuss changes to articles when they are contested, and void Wikipedia:Don't be a dick. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 20:35, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

In response to your feedback[edit]

If someone reverts an edit that you feel is a good one, usually it's a good idea to check the article talk page and chat about it. By the way, thanks for the good contribution. If you'd like any further help, contact me on my user talk page or put a {{help me}} template up on your own user talk page and someone will be along to help you. :)

Please sign comments[edit]

Information.svg Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button Insert-signature.png or Button sig.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. -- JoannaSerah (talk) 08:12, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Your edits to ADX Florence[edit]

For the second time, you have removed factual information from this page without explanation. You don't see fit to include an Edit Summary to help your fellow editors tell what you're doing, which is not nice.

The information you removed from the page can be verified on the BoP web site, which I did:

1. TEX MARIN HERNANDEZ 02536-748 57-White-M LIFE FLORENCE HIGH USP

If you don't stop abusing the encyclopedia, you will be referred to the Administrator's Noticeboard for further action. I urge you to discuss what you're doing before you do it. This is a community project and its success depends on editors working together.

If I can help you with anything, please let me know, but respond here, not on my Talk page--it keeps the conversation together.

Thank you. — UncleBubba T @ C ) 03:54, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Response[edit]

Hi, sorry about that. According to the BOP Inmate Locator, Inmate Tex Hernandez (02536-748) has been transferred to USP Florence High and is no longer at Florence ADX. USP Florence High is located in the same complex as Florence ADX, but is a different facility and is not a supermax facility like ADX is. USP Florence High therefore has a separate wikipedia page. That's why I made the change. I moved Tex Hernandez to the USP Florence High page. Sorry I didn't explain my change when I first made it. Won't happen again. Still getting used to this thing... MDEVER802 (talk) 22:32, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Very well. Thank you. — UncleBubba T @ C ) 04:40, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Categories[edit]

ButtonBlue.svg Your contributions to the prison articles are much appreciated, but please don't delete the categories at the end of the articles as you did on United States Penitentiary, Big Sandy and Federal Correctional Institution, La Tuna. That lands the pages on the cleanup lists for other editors to fix. • Gene93k (talk) 16:30, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Sorry about that. Won't happen again. MDEVER802 (talk) 21:44, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

images deleted[edit]

Hi there MDEVER802. I have deleted some of your recent upload images. Wikipedia does not, in general, host AP images as they are a for-sale item and hosting them here is exactly the type of use they charge for. Also please note that just because a news website does not charge for content, does not mean that work on it is in the public domain. Meir Kahane.jpg was hosted on a website that had a section (under terms of use) that clearly stated all work on it was copyrighted - no indication anywhere of public domain - Peripitus (Talk) 21:22, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Hey, sorry I'm new to photo adding. I found a John Gotti photo that has already been uploaded and approved and used that one. Thanks! MDEVER802 (talk) 23:43, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Federal Correctional Institution, Oakdale[edit]

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Federal Correctional Institution, Oakdale, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.saveonprisoncalls.com/federal/oakdale.htm.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) MadmanBot (talk) 18:16, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Federal Correctional Institution, Oakdale[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Federal Correctional Institution, Oakdale requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. FCI Oakdale[edit]

Why are you not following the chart's structure? Why are you removing Mr. Brown from the chart? This is vandalism! Please stop and explain what you are trying to accomplish before you're reported. Please reply on article talk page.--XLR8TION (talk) 23:42, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

One more article reversion sis a violation of the 3RR and will be reported. STOP! and discuss on article page!--XLR8TION (talk) 23:47, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

I copied it from the Federal Bureau of Prisons website (http://www.bop.gov/locations/institutions/oak/index.jsp), which is a US government agency. MDEVER802 (talk) 18:20, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

I'm not going to remove anyone, I'm just adding more detail and rearranging them from most well-known to least. Not done yet. MDEVER802 (talk) 23:47, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

You have broken the 3RR rule and will be reported. You should have been civil and discussed the article on the talk page --XLR8TION (talk) 23:53, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Ok. MDEVER802 (talk) 23:54, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

You have been reported and will most likely be blocked. Learn how to be civil and follow site guidelines instead of being a rogue editor. --XLR8TION (talk) 00:01, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Not changing or removing anything. Just adding more detail. MDEVER802 (talk) 00:09, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

I would suggest stop editing this article. You're making it worst for yourself. --XLR8TION (talk) 00:10, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Possibly unfree File:Zachary.Chesser.jpg[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Zachary.Chesser.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Gov.John.Rowland.gif[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Gov.John.Rowland.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Eeekster (talk) 08:27, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

The photo of John Rowland is on the ct.gov website, so it is in the public domain. MDEVER802 (talk) 08:32, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Mugshot of Louis Daidone.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mugshot of Louis Daidone.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 19:34, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. I thought mugshots taken by federal agencies were in the public domain. MDEVER802 (talk) 20:30, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Redirect blanking[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg Please stop! If you have an issue with a redirect that doesn't qualify for speedy deletion, please take it to Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion rather than blank the page. Blanking page does not cause it to be deleted. Please also don't blank the page because you are making a request at Wikipedia:Requested move. If an administrator agrees to move the page, they can move it over the redirect. Thanks! KTC (talk) 19:40, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Sorry about that. I put in a few move requests earlier today so I hope they get approved quickly. MDEVER802 (talk) 21:12, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

I am trying to get rid of some redirects I made earlier. Can someone help? Thanks! MDEVER802 (talk) 21:34, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

The only redirects where you can simply ask for deletion are the ones you created: USP COLEMAN, United States Penitentiary, Coleman I, and United States Penitentiary, Coleman I. To have them deleted, simply add a {{db-author}} tag to each redirect. DoriTalkContribs 22:17, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! What about the other ones? MDEVER802 (talk) 22:45, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Page moves by administrators can be done over existing redirect or they can delete the target first before moving, so if your request at WP:RM is successful then that's not an issue. For other redirects you think should be deleted, then Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion is the place for you to raise it. KTC (talk) 23:14, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Butner Correctional Prison[edit]

I did discuss it on the talk page. I said, "How did my latest edits violate your proposal? The photo I used fit in the infobox and I put significantly fewer details in the chart than before. In addition, I did not use hyperlinks." MDEVER802 (talk) 02:11, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:FCCMED.YAZOO.CITY.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:FCCMED.YAZOO.CITY.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

Copyrighted contributions[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Federal Correctional Institution, McKean article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the "Help Desk". You can also leave a message on my talk page. Lone boatman (talk) 16:04, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

File source problem with File:John.Rowland.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:John.Rowland.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bulwersator (talk) 06:27, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to == Notable inmates ==

I see that you are trying to clean up prison articles Wikipedia-wide. However, I wonder if it matters if a notable inmate is still held at a facility? In other types of articles, such as universities, we mention notable former professors even if they moved to other institutions. Or take the case of Rafael Cancel Miranda, held at Alcatraz and then transferred to Leavenworth. Does this mean that the Alcatraz article should not list him as a notable inmate?

Anyway, your talk page reminds me of my own when I started editing Wikipedia, with lots of slightly aggrieved users posting. I used to think that one could not make progress editing without bruising a few egos, but nowadays have found that appeals to consensus are far more effective. Speciate (talk) 06:50, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

  • Hey, thanks for the message. Most, if not all, inmates in the federal system are held at facilities designated as Federal Detention Center, Metropolitan Detention Center or Metropolitan Correctional Center after their initial apprehension and/or during court proceedings. This would make the "Notable Inmates" list at one of these facilities incredibly long. And after the notable inmate is transferred to a permanent facility, they would be listed there too, which I think is redundant. For example, Tony Rezko was at MCC Chicago during his trial, but was transferred to FCI Pekin after his conviction, so he is now listed as a Notable Inmate in the FCI Pekin article. MDEVER802 (talk) 04:52, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
    • Instead of making it about where they end up, how about duration of stay? I'm thinking of Mel Reynolds, who I seem to recall was held for at least a year in the Metropolitan Correctional Center, Chicago. I understand if some fool was only held for 5 days or whatever. Speciate (talk) 05:55, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
      • I agree with including someone who has been there for that long. I will put Mel Reynolds in the chart. MDEVER802 (talk) 18:45, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed your recent edit to Federal Detention Center, Houston does not have an edit summary. Federal Correctional Institution, Sheridan[edit]

Sometime we throw the baby out with the bathwater in order to get the message across, plus its easier to revert them all and force person who wants the changes to conform. My edit summary refers to these edits: [1] [2] where you removed three inmates you apparently do not think should be listed. That would be going off your opinion as opposed to the reliable sources that say those folks were there. Regardless of any transfers, the list is a list of those who were incarcerated at the facility (or even detained, or in essence anyone who is there against their will). It is not a list of only those who spent a certain amount of time, or served their entire sentences there. People can be listed in every prison they served time at. And as to your comment on the talk page about the porn star, I'm sorry but please explain why a porn star should not be listed? Because they are a porn star? If that's the only reason, sorry, but that is not relevant. The only thing relevant would be if they are notable, and the guy has a Wikipedia article, which is usually the key indicator or notability for purposes of these listed in articles. The absolutely only other relevant issue would be whether or not there is a reliable source saying the person spent time at the facility. That's it. A tag has been placed on Usmcfp springfield, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

bad title and redirecting is wrong

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Ushau97 (talk) 09:34, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:ADX.CELL.DESIGN.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ADX.CELL.DESIGN.jpg.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included.

Thank you. Magog the Ogre (t c) 02:51, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Drug seizure Mexico.jpg[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:Drug seizure Mexico.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. LGA talkedits 10:17, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:FCI Florence.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:FCI Florence.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. One big list?[edit]

Hello! I know you do lots of wonderful work on lists of inmates in federals prisons, and I wanted to know what you think of creating one centralized list of current prisoners of the United States federal government? In addition to the lists of notable current and former inmates on the individual prison articles, one centralized list can be quite helpful for readers and easier to maintain. What are your thoughts? – Zntrip 20:42, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi MDEVER802! If you have some free time, I'd really appreciate your input on this idea. – Zntrip 20:28, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Hey sorry it took me a bit to get back to you. Thanks for the compliment, I really appreciate it! Regarding your idea, that would be one huge list indeed. You're proposing making one article entitled something like, "Notable Federal Prisoners"? Is that correct? MDEVER802 (talk) 20:48, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

No worries. The idea is to make one list for notable current inmates. A list that includes former inmates as well may be quite long, but perhaps there could be two lists. – Zntrip 21:12, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Personally, I like doing the separate facilities lists because they are not so overwhelmingly huge and I think more manageable. MDEVER802 (talk) 21:38, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, the status quo might be fine as it is. However, one thing I was thinking about was that sometimes inmates are moved around, and that would be easier to change if there was a centralized list (of course, I wouldn't propose getting rid of the prison-specific lists, even if there was a centralized one). Also, it would be easier to get a big picture of which inmates are where and what there sentences are with a big list. Currently, if someone wanted to find information on inmates in general, they would have to visit multiple articles. – Zntrip 07:55, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Edit of "List of U.S. federal prisons" article[edit]

Greetings and felicitations. I noticed that in the List of U.S. federal prisons article that you deleted my comprehensive list of federal prisons by "short name", and I am wondering why (since your edit summary does not give a reason). Would you please help me to understand?—DocWatson42 (talk) 07:44, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi DocWatson42, sorry it took me a while to respond to you. I actually proposed deleting the "short name" section on the article's talk page a few days before I did it, you can check that out. I thought the section was unnecessary and redundant because the prison names are only three or four words long as it is. MDEVER802 (talk) 20:59, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

I'm afraid I missed that. I added the list because it gives a comprehensive tally of all of the federal prisons without regard to type, making it easy to find a specific institution by name, something I want at least once a month (and without resorting to a "find" function, especially since I look up prisons that may be purely fictional, since they are mention on television dramas). It also allows users to sort all prisons by location, which the current article does not.—DocWatson42 (talk) 00:39, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
