Please stop replacing my tables (which are much neater and I worked so hard on) with a table more suited for the NFL. Also, unless you list a reason for your edits, it can be considered vandalism. Tom Danson 19:48, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry about that Fort Wayne Freedom controversy[edit]

I'm sorry I kept replacing your tables. Since it's all but official that the Freedom are moving to af2, could I put in the standard af2 template once it's official? Thank you. Tom Danson 19:05, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Tony Renna Crash.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tony Renna Crash.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Thank you for your expansion of the summary of the Horseshoe's win last night over the Patsies (I've been a Colts fan since the Jeff George days). However, please keep in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a sports fan and commentary site. Thus, articles should be written in a dry, formal, and scholarly tone, and must be written from a neutral point of view. Specifically, phrases like "Fortunately for the Colts", "highly anticipated", and "the Colts did an incredible job" are wholly inappropriate. I'm going to fix it this afternoon; it's no big deal, but just keep that in mind for the future :) Kurt Weber 18:29, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Tracy[edit]

Ouf! I'm haven't heard or seen anything about that passage : "but he has since stated that he has no plans to run in NASCAR in 2007". I knew his intentions for heading to Nascar's Busch Series but nothing about the opposite. All my edits on that article was regarding the French helmet controversy section. Maybe It's someone who've added non-sense or inaccurate details. Sorry about not being able to answer that.--JForget 04:07, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Dario Franchitti[edit]

Hello, I saw the article here 10/31/06 [1]. I forgot to add the link that day. As I read it, it says that he's "planning" to do so, but hadn't signed anything yet I haven't heard anything official. The full-time Champ Car ride looks like it's old news, and reading the source, it may have been nothing more than a rumor. Doctorindy 13:16, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indianapolis Colts seasons[edit]

Nothing's been destroyed - go to the redirect page (click the line after "Redirected from..."), then click the history, and copy your superior grid. Then go to the Indianapolis Colts article and paste it in to replace the one they have. If you do this, Wikipedia gets the best of both worlds - your hard work would have paid off with a much better looking article (and had I done this last night, the history of the target page would not reflect your participation) - and now you can improve the Chicago Bears article the same way. My apologies for any ruffled feathers. B.Wind 21:31, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of Anthony Edwards[edit]

Hi Manningmbd,

You uploaded a picture of Anthony Edwards to the English version of Wikipedia. I am creating an article about him on the Dutch Wikipedia, and would like to use that picture. Therefore it has to be uploaded to the Dutch wikipedia or, even better, to wikimedia commons. Of course I can do that, but because it's your picture i thought it might be descent to let you do it. So my question is if you would upload the picture to wikimedia commons? Kind regards Wouter 27 jan 2007 18:45 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.108.16.207 (talk) 17:45, 27 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Josh Barfield.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Josh Barfield.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Charlie Johnson (offensive football player)[edit]

Your new title for this article is not very specific. See the Charles Johnson (disambiguation) page, and its Charles Johnson (football) offshoot. At least six notable football players have this name, and four of them are offensive players.

To be sure, the Wikipedia articles for the other three do not use the same nickname as this article, but that seems a very slender distinction to lean on.

How about Charlie Johnson (Oklahoma State football)? We can be sure that he will never play for another college.

Paul 18:43, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Charlie Johnson (offensive tackle) and Charlie Johnson (nose tackle) sounds like a good solution. Why don't you go ahead and do this. I didn't realize that naming a player's team was verboten; that being the case, I have some cleanup to do on at least one other Charles Johnson and on a couple of other articles ...

Thanks for your cooperation on this matter. Paul 05:40, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Colts' 2002 Roster[edit]

Hello, I just used Google and there was some 2002 PDF file from the Colts Media Guide. Fair use rationale for Image:FortWayneFusion.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:FortWayneFusion.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Seraphimblade Talk to me 05:41, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading pictures[edit]

Say, when you upload a picture that you took yourself, would you upload it at our sister website Wikimedia Commons [2]? Your login will most likely work there automatically - let me know if it doesn't and you need to do the migration. Commons exists to be a storage place for the Wikipedia projects. So any image uploaded there is automatically available for the many Wikipedias, like English, German, French, Spanish, etc. You treat the image coding exactly the same as you would one here. Commons expects you to add all images to categories so that someone can find them. IndyCar drivers would be added to the category Indy 500 drivers. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm actually an admin on both Commons and the English Wikipedia. Someone will eventually transfer all of the free images that you have uploaded there, so it's best to save the time up front by you only uploading the images there. Thanks! Heh, did ESPN actually update Moraes' info recently or did they just never change it from the last time he drove for Coyne? There's a lot of other very outdated info on their driver list and their IndyCar coverage has always been pretty spotty. I think most editors would prefer to see an official announcement from the team. Given the number of announcements by other teams over the last few days, the silence from Coyne is pretty deafening. Edit summary[edit]

I refer to the edit summary of edit #411445737:

Undid revision 411433184 by TheChrisD (talk) NOT confirmed by anyone. Pure speculation.

I'll have you know that at the time when I added that edit, the article had actually been written claiming that both Bourdais and Plowman were officially signed by the team. This story was then picked up by both the Indy 500's and the Newman-Haas' Facebook pages, to which I subsequently edited the article as appropriate. So to respond to your edit summary, actually it was temporarily confirmed by someone (albeit wrongly). TheChrisD RantsEdits 05:40, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, OK. When I noticed that edit, I could not find one mention of them actually being signed by DCR anywhere. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Downstait requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. JNW (talk) 21:16, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hyphens aren't evil[edit]

Hi! Just stopping by to give you a little info about hyphens, since I noticed you'd replaced quite a few with en dashes on 2011 IndyCar Series season.[3] Hyphens are actually the correct mark for compound adjectives like "back-to-back victories" and "seven-month season", and names, such as Ryan Hunter-Reay. En dashes are more appropriate for ranges (15–17 May), joint ownership/connection (Mason–Dixon line), and doubly-compound adjectives, like "three-car–wide".

A List Apart[4] has quite a nice rundown of the differences and best uses, if you're interested.

I hope this helps you out with future edits,

The article Albert Bimper has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unref blp

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Problem with your custom signature[edit]

Hello, I'm sending you this note because you need to update your signature. You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Your signature does not link to your account. This is usually because your account has been renamed.

To fix your signature, you need to find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences and either blank it or change the link to your current account name. More information is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. mw:New requirements for user signatures/Help#Wrong user links. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures.
