Speedy deletion nomination of File:Bagramyan equestrian statue.JPG[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Bagramyan equestrian statue.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Varmin (talk) 17:39, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

June 2013[edit]

To enforce an arbitration decision, and for disruptive editing and BLP issues on the page Hamid Algar,
you have been blocked from editing for 72 hours. You are welcome to make useful contributions once the block expires. If you believe this block is unjustified, please read the guide to appealing arbitration enforcement blocks and then appeal your block using the instructions there. Bbb23 (talk) 00:58, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Reminder to administrators: In March 2010, ArbCom adopted a procedure prohibiting administrators "from reversing or overturning (explicitly or in substance) any action taken by another administrator pursuant to the terms of an active arbitration remedy, and explicitly noted as being taken to enforce said remedy, except: (a) with the written authorization of the Committee, or (b) following a clear, substantial, and active consensus of uninvolved editors at a community discussion noticeboard (such as WP:AN or WP:ANI). If consensus in such discussions is hard to judge or unclear, the parties should submit a request for clarification on the proper page." Administrators who reverse an arbitration enforcement block, such as this one, without clear authorisation will be summarily desysopped.

So....I guess the fact that I supported the quotations and added new, and what most would consider as neutral, reliable sources and worded them in a similarly neutral language and went through the trouble of italicizing a journal title did not really earn me enough brownie points to avoid a block?--Marshal Bagramyan (talk) 02:09, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Matsoni). Я плохо знаю английский язык, мне трудно объяснить администраторам суть конфликта. пожалуйста не оставайтесь в стороне.--Lori-m (talk) 07:30, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Re:Warning[edit]

First of all, I do not appreciate your tone. Your block history for disruptive editing looks a lot worse than mine, so if I were you, I would think twice before saying something like "Editors have indulged in your problematic edits long enough". Also, please speak for yourself.

Second of all, I reverted back to the agreed version which an IP vandalized back in November. Revisiting articles years later is actually the best way to make sure that biased anons have not ruined articles that users have worked and argued on so much to put together. And the fact that you have followed my articles to revert things you seem uncomfortable with goes to show that you are willing to indulge disruptive anonymous users. Are these the "editors" you were talking about? Parishan (talk) 15:46, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

Oh, and revisiting articles later is not being sneaky. I am not so ignorant as to not keep in mind that a thoughtful user may have them on their watchlist. Parishan (talk) 15:47, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

I don't believe I have anything to explain myself for. And like I said, please speak for yourself; unless there has been a coordinated collective effort to follow and respond to my activity on Wikipedia, you are not in the position to know if indeed "other editors have often abstained from reporting" me. As for me, I did nothing wrong. I simply restored the previously agreed version, and an IP's disruptive edit (regardless how much it may conform to your own POV) is not enough for you to attack me in the way you are doing now. Whereas I do appreciate the fact that you chose to contact me before deciding to report me, I wish you lowered your tone a bit; this would make our communication a lot more efficient next time. Thank you. Parishan (talk) 17:15, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

Armenian help needed[edit]

Hello Marshall, I'm contacting you because we need some Armenian translators to help with the deployment of the new VisualEditor on hy.wikipedia. File permission problem with File:Karabakh map.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Karabakh map.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:12, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

We already have better, more accurate maps than this one. It's not used on any article so perhaps the best thing to do then is to just delete it altogether?--Marshal Bagramyan (talk) 05:00, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Dear ask the linguists about the below:

Explanation[edit]

There are few exeptions in the Armenian language regarding some consonants following the letter Ր.

Hence:

  • Գ after Ր turns into K. (example: SARKIS and not Sargis, GEVORK and not Gevorg)
  • Դ after Ր turns into T. (example: VARTAN and not Vardan)
  • Բ after Ր turns into P. (example: SURP and not Surb)

Thanks for understanding.--Zyzzzzzy (talk) 06:53, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

This is not a matter of "transcribing foreign names and words in Wikipedia", this is a matter of linguistics in the EASTERN Armenian language.--Zyzzzzzy (talk) 07:01, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
Please check ou this link Ուղղախոսություն և ուղղագրություն:

Be constructive in your discussion without using words such as "you should brush up on your knowledge of Armenian". Thanks.--Zyzzzzzy (talk) 12:11, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Notification of automated file description generation[edit]

Your upload of File:American University of Armenia.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Hi Marshal. Hope you got the data you wanted re armoured vehicles, and Bob Rayner is a good experienced person to talk to further in these matters. Might you consider keeping an eye on Somali Civil War for a while? Mikoyan[edit]

Are you aware of the ongoing debate in Armenia over Anastas Mikoyan and whether his statue should be erected in Yerevan or not? If yes, don't you think at least a bit should be added about his legacy and how he's perceived in Armenia today? What about the new (or newly publicized) documents that Genocide Institute director Hayk Demoyan has talked about? Have you heard about this and is there anything worthy?
