After almost four months of editing, an ordinary welcome tag feels out of place. So here is a very informal welcome from me to you! Lova Falk talk 09:04, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

The Goldfinch (novel)[edit]

Hi Martin Petherbridge!

I was reviewing your page about The Goldfinch (novel) and I added some tags to it. Please do not be alarmed by the number of tags since most of them are easily dealt with (e.g. adding links from other articles to your page and vice versa). However, there is a chance that someone will nominate it for deletion because it does not really give an indication of why the book is important and does not have references to establish notability. Please find reliable references and prove it's notability. I would hate to see your page get deleted. Good luck!

  • I came across this while stub-sorting, started off by adding the ISBN and was about to add a link to a newspaper source about it ... then realised that the article section has much more information about it, so made this into a redirect to that. Eventually, of course, there will be an article, and I've also added it to the disambiguation page at Goldfinch. Incidentally this didn't need to have the disambiguator "(novel)" as there's nothing else in the encyclopedia with the title "The Goldfinch", so I'd moved it before turning it into a redirect. See also Wikipedia:Notability_(books)#Not_yet_published_books.
There's a lot to learn about editing Wikipedia, but it's an interesting journey. Happy Editing! PamD 10:06, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for May 28[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Martin Beck Award, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Peter Robinson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Tom Franklins[edit]

Hallo, As you moved the poker player from the base name to Tom Franklin (poker player) and then created a dab page at Tom Franklin, it's your responsibility to clean up all the incoming links to him which are now pointing to the dab page. This is explained in the message on the screen when you are doing the page move. Please sort this out. Thanks. PamD 23:18, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

I've merged the two dab pages, but the same still applies: you need to correct the links which used to point to the poker player so that they still point directly to him. Thanks. PamD 23:29, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
I've now found a navbox template {{1990s WSOP Bracelet Winners}} which seems to account for the vast majority of the links, and edited it - so you only need to mop up any remaining incoming links once the template change has worked through the system. PamD 23:29, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

No thank you.

  • In that case please do not ever again move a page away from the base name and create a disambiguation page at that name, as you are disrupting the encyclopedia by doing so if you do not follow up by fixing the incoming links. When you move the page a message appears on screen explaining that this is your responsibility. I've fixed the remaining few incoming links to Tom Franklin now. PamD 07:06, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

No thank you. I don't subscribe to these rules.

Rennie Airth[edit]

Hi. Regarding this addition, I was wondering if you have a source. I can't find anything online so I've tagged it, but it occurs to me you might have seen something in a trade publication or something. Rivertorch (talk) 15:14, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

August 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Peter May (writer) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

Proposed deletion of Pierre Lemaitre[edit]

The article Pierre Lemaitre has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article. The nominator also raised the following concern:

All biographies of living people created after March 18, 2010, must have references.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Speedy deletion nomination of Pierre Lemaitre[edit]

Hello Martin Petherbridge,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Pierre Lemaitre for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Sourov0000 (talk) 22:35, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Regarding future titles[edit]

Titles which have not yet appeared must have a reference (a source) in order to be verifiable; you can't just add to a list if they don't exist already. Please provide a verifiable reference for this information before adding it back. Icarus of old (talk) 20:30, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

No. I shall continue to add the information. If you want it to be verified so badly, search for it, it's very easily locatable however I am neither a pedant nor jobsworth and refuse to get drawn into a kafkaesque enterprise where i have to prove the existence of facts i know to be true. that's my prerogative. yours is to remove them if you want them to be verified, however your position is a much more philosophically ludicrous one which I leave to you and your selfesteem to look after. and there is no point responding to me i have been doing this for years. if blocked i will sign up again under a different name and carry on.

That's not how Wikipedia works. Read this if you have any questions; it clearly states that the "burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material." I will get an admin involved if you revert again. All best. Icarus of old (talk) 23:00, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

that's fine by me.

You appear to be engaged in an edit war[edit]

This edit summary shows that you intend to pursue an edit war regarding edits you wish to make to Minette Walters. Since the changes are opposed, you will need to engage in discussion on the talk page to reach some kind of consensus on how the article should read. Bear in mind that that three revert rule is a bright line guideline for when an edit war becomes disruptive, yet an editor can be blocked for edit warring even if they don't hit three reverts within 24 hours. —C.Fred (talk) 21:01, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Minette Walters. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. MarnetteD|Talk 15:29, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

BTW what ever happened to the book A Dreadful Murder that you were adding a couple years ago?

It was published.

Then what was your "she hasn't written in seven years about? MarnetteD|Talk 15:46, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

"she hasn't written a novel in seven years" - A Dreadful Murder is a novella.
