Turkish help needed[edit]

Hello Maurice, I'm contacting you because we need some Turkish translators to help with the deployment of the new VisualEditor on tr.wikipedia. There are help pages, user guides, and description pages that need translating, as well as the interface itself. The translating work is going on over on MediaWiki: Translation Central. I also need help with a personal message for the Turkish Wikipedians. If you are able to help in any way, either reply here, or head over to TranslationCentral. Thanks for your time, PEarley (WMF) (talk) 22:49, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Ambox warning blue.svg The Arbitration Committee has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions (information on which is at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions) on any editor who is active on pages broadly related to Armenia, Azerbaijan, or related conflicts. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, satisfy any standard of behavior, or follow any normal editorial process. If you inappropriately edit pages relating to this topic, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or an article ban. The Committee's full decision can be read at the "Final decision" section of the decision page.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions, with the appropriate sections of Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Procedures, and with the case decision page before making any further edits to the pages in question. This notice is given by an uninvolved administrator and will be logged on the case decision, pursuant to the conditions of the Arbitration Committee's discretionary sanctions system.

Arbitration enforcement sanction[edit]

Commons-emblem-hand.svg The following sanction now applies to you:

Topic ban from everything related to Armenia, Azerbaijan, or related ethnic conflicts anywhere on Wikipedia.

You have been sanctioned per this arbitration enforcement request.

This sanction is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator under the authority of the Arbitration Committee's decision at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Armenia-Azerbaijan 2#Final decision and, if applicable, the procedure described at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions. This sanction has been recorded in the log of sanctions for that decision. If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means. If you do not comply with this sanction, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.

You may appeal this sanction using the process described here. I recommend that you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template if you wish to submit an appeal to the enforcement noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me (on my talk page), before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard.  Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything of the above is unclear to you. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 08:07, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

You are also placed on notice that if the disruption spreads to another topic area they will be blocked indefinitely as a non-discretionary sanctions (normal admin) action, this warning will be recorded as a final warning at Wikipedia:Editing restrictions#Final warnings. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

August 2013 Rabaa Massacre[edit]

Can you please make an RM for Rabaa and Nahda massacre(s) instead of the one you proposed? I recommend you check how the discussion developed since the last time you left, because the new title does not reflect the fact that the events occurred in another sit-in also. I will support. Also, i don't think there is a need to capitalize "massacre" per MOS:CAPS and because the sources rarely do that. Regards. Fitzcarmalan (talk) 17:38, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello. Just wanted to let you know that your insertion of the Turkish presidential seals into the infoboxes of the various presidents is against the MOS. It has been decided over various discussions that presidential seals, and similar, are not appropriate for infoboxes. The consensus is they're not really needed, and make an infobox look cluttered. Of course, consensus can change, so feel free to start a discussion at someone like the talk page of the President of Turkey article, if you would like consensus to put the seals back in. Otherwise, I refer you to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Icons to explain more. Besides that, thanks for the good work clearing up the infoboxes. Redverton (talk) 00:51, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

Sabiha Gokcen[edit]

Merhaba,

Sabiha Gokcen sayfasinda Ermeni kullanicilar ve ozellikle "Etienne_Dolet" isimli kullanici inatla Gokcen'in "origins is disputed" diye yazilmasini surduruyor.

Maurice07 (talk) 17:34, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Cem Özdemir. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:11, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Cem Özdemir. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:17, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Harita hakkında.[edit]

Merhaba Maurice. Vector bilgim olmadığından elim kolum bağlı bu iki konuda, yardım edersen sevnirim. elmasmelih (used to be KazekageTR) 21:03, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi Melih. I didn't forget to include Greece or other Turkish language spoken locations like Germany, Bulgaria.. Greece has not signed European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages by European Union. That's why it's not recognized officially. I am opposed to the use of this map. Because it is still disputed and not have any "reliable sources". If source is reliable and official, I can update the map. Greetings..Maurice Flesier (talk) 22:08, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

This article says Turkish is recognized by the government, shouldn't be enough for being in that map. And I agree about that 'Idioma turca', thats why i said that we should use the updated version of this map instead. There are few things to improve in that map by the way, not much. elmasmelih (used to be KazekageTR) 22:25, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

July 2014[edit]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you violate Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced or poorly sourced defamatory content into an article or any other Wikipedia page again, as you did at Cem Özdemir, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Typically Muslim in your approach, you claim you will seek intervention but you choose a war. Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:50, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Don't worry about the recent edit at Cem Özdemir. The RfC has just started and others may come to edit and discuss, but when an editor makes policy- and guideline-based arguments, it's difficult to refute with opinion.
I suggest that we do not comment as our opinions are well described in the section above the RfC and it may be perceived as badgering or combative to engage with those who are merely commenting. If the RfC continues for a while, we could engage in discussion, but let others discuss for a few days anyhow. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:56, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

  1. You are now at three reverts on Mesut Özil.
  2. The whole thing has been discussed over and over and over on the talk page (see the archives). It doesn't appear as though you didn't consult WP:OPENPARA or WP:MOSBIO which shows once again that you are not cut out for editing on Wikipedia. Walter Görlitz (talk) 02:11, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

August 2014[edit]

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of two weeks for edit warring and violating the three-revert rule, as you did at Turkish presidential election, 2014. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  Bbb23 (talk) 01:34, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Request reason:

I really don't understand the reason for this block. I would like to report a violation of edit war on WP:AN, but in the end I'm blocked. It's really not a fair decision. I wonder, did I violate the rule of WP:3RR in the last 24 hour period ? Otherwise, that decision has given looking at my extensive block log in the past? Thank you. Maurice Flesier (talk) 21:19, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Decline reason:

The reason is clearly given in the block message above, and in more detail below. I would suggest reading the many, many warnings and block notices you have received in the past related to edit warring. Kuru (talk) 22:07, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first and then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page for as long as you are blocked.

You reverted four times on August 18. The first was a series of consecutive edits ending at 10:54. The second was a single edit at 17:28. The third was a series of consecutive edits ending at 19:38. The last was a single edit at 19:41.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:26, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
