Speedy deletion nomination of File:CCdining hall.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:CCdining hall.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the file is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. License tagging for File:CCCMatriculation.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:CCCMatriculation.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:06, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Image licences[edit]

Please read this. Please get your act together! Assuming it is your photo, please apply the recommended: {{self|cc-by-sa-3.0|GFDL|migration=redundant}} tag to File:CCCMatriculation.JPG. For any other photos taken by you, please upload to the Commons and apply the same licence. (I really expect better editing from a Cambridge person - you tagged File:Corpus Main.jpg correctly in September; why have you regressed?) — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:29, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi. With the best will, you simply can't go around "correcting" articles such as Winter Pool just because they don't show a wider picture. Oxbridge entrance is problematic (my daughter, for example, would definitely have applied to both) but that's not what the article is about. And when you try to correct Hugh N. Kennedy MA, PhD (Cantab.) because people might not understand what Cantab means that's just plain wrong. On that basis you also need to explain what an MA and a PhD are, that Kennedy is a family name, N is an initial and Hugh is a given name and so on. This is, after all, an encyclopaedia and not a primer! :) andy (talk) 22:34, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

  • Please don't keep making that edit to Winter Pool. It has nothing whatever to do with the article which is about how the pool works and is of course specific to Cambridge. Even if you could apply to both Oxford and Cambridge in the same year it would still be irrelevant. Again, this is about the Cambridge Winter Pool not the Oxford AND Cambridge Winter Pool (which doesn't exist). andy (talk) 14:07, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
  • The same goes for University of Cambridge. You're making a point about the UK university entrance system as it applies to Oxbridge, so why are you putting it in articles about Cambridge? There is, for example, a separate Oxbridge article, and the topic is already covered in UCAS. You should also be careful when making statements such as "These factors sharply reduce the number of applicants to Oxbridge" - this definitely needs a reference. andy (talk) 14:16, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 13[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Zoltan Mesko (American football), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hungarian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Information.svg Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button Insert-signature.png or Button sig.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 17:01, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
