Huge fan of your recent edits in in top/bottom related matters. Good show old sport! If you need any help with anything, let me know. Zazaban (talk) 23:53, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

All the articles you've edited so far are already on my watchlist, we seem to share interests. Always good to see a new face. Zazaban (talk) 00:00, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Nothing better then a hot flipflop. By the way, there are still some versatile men in the "bottom" and in the "top" section. I'm keen to serve reality. Could you help? Tristan Paris for sure penetrated Thom Barron in Fever, but I don't know for sure about Jesse Santana and Pavel Novotny. --Meister und Margarita (talk) 00:07, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Indeed, flipflops are hot. And yeah, I'll check. Zazaban (talk) 00:16, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Hasn't Tommy Hansen topped a few times? I believe the only reason he bottoms more is because he dislikes condoms. Zazaban (talk) 00:20, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
I knew it charted well, but I didn't know that well. Are you a Zappa fan? Zazaban (talk) 00:48, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Of course. And a David-Bowie-fan as well. --Meister und Margarita (talk) 00:50, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Awesome. Do you have a favourite album? Zazaban (talk) 00:58, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Articles for deletion nomination of Versatile (sex)[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

I have nominated Versatile (sex), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Versatile (sex). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

What a bizarre thing to try to delete. Zazaban (talk) 23:50, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
In fact, I'm proud to be a gay semi-versatile bottom. My nomination had nothing to do with having problems with the truth or a desire for censorship. Irbisgreif (talk) 02:38, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Bad-Faith[edit]

I'm sorry, but I feel that we've gotten off to a bad start. I never assumed that "Versatile (sex)" was submitted in bad faith, and I'm sorry if I came across that way. I catch a lot of flak for being a bit of a deletionist, but I've never wanted to bite anyone, newcomer or not. Perhaps we could try again to get off on the right foot? I'm quite aware, from my studies of linguistics, that two people can be totally well meaning and still get angry with one another, so I'd like to offer to bury the hatchet. Flip-Flop[edit]

Just letting you know, merging content does not mean moving a copy to a new page. It can be cut, edited, removed and in general completely edited as a result. Reverting a user's efforts to incorporate the information and remove what he sees as irrelevant is not enforcing the decision of an AfD, but edit warring. \ Backslash Forwardslash / {talk} 23:18, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

This other user did not incorporate anything but deleted everything. This is what I call vandalism. --Meister und Margarita (talk) 08:49, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Nice to meet you, on Ariadne auf Naxos, I replied there. - An approach to show a picture related to the opera rather than always the same composer was tried for another Ariadne, L'Arianna and is successful in Fatinitza, while Carmen, Siegfried and several others failed. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:19, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Your warning and my request for help[edit]

Of what I can see you are a nice and reasonable guy and I kindly ask for your understanding. Since years this Mr. MB is blocking all my efforts to include appropriate pictures in several opera articles. So now finally I lost my temper and told him what I think about him. Of course I shouldn't have done it and I can fully understand that you find this unacceptable. I would be glad if you could voice an opinion on the issue. I think - and I proposed it for several times - that the lead picture of an opera should be dedicated to a scene from the opera, preferably from the best production available and with the best singers performing the roles. MB and his pressure group insist that every opera of Verdi is illustrated prominently by Mr. Verdi himself - so now we have 40 Verdi operas with a portrait of Mr. Verdi and seven of 7 Bizet operas always with a portrait of Mr. Bizet. MB is also active in the German WP and also there - together with one lady - he prevents that a scene from the opera is shown on top of the article. So in German Carmen you will see a simple text box without an image [1] and in the English version you see the composer [2]. My argument is: If someone wants to see the composer, he or she will go to the composers article. If someone is interested in the opera, he or she wants to get informations about the opera and mainly pics concerning the opera. This is valid for nearly every other Wikipedia. Just in English WP and German WP we have these stupid rules set up by little pressure groups. It took me a lot of time to convince Salzburg festival to donate a beautiful pic from a festival production of Carmen. Now we have the pic and I am not allowed to put it on top of the page were it ought to be in my eyes. Please help, I simply cannot understand the logic of the other side.--Meister und Margarita (talk) 15:27, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

As noted above - use dispute resolution. Note also the helpful suggestion at Template talk:Hofmannsthal operas; and see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Opera#Arabella et al: which comes first. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:38, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
In the case of the Hofmannsthal template I know very well that it is not mine. But I felt very frustrated and treated unfairly. Firstly, an opera consists of a libretto and a score. If the authors should be featured on the top of the page, IMHO both of them deserve to be featured - and as Hofmannsthal and Strauss collaborated in six cases, both of them deserve to be mentioned prominently. The opera pressure group deleted the author of the text, so that only the author of the music is represented. Mr. MB first made the template much more unattractive - by choosing an odd picture of the composer - and then removed it altogether. Now the template is not in use any more anywhere. I have endured this tactics for many many years, and I am fed up, I feel helpless in my endeavor to improve German and English WP and now punished as well. I have the impression that argument don't count at all, just the pressure groups.--Meister und Margarita (talk) 15:40, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
There is not an opera pressure group. There is a group of editors who work on opera articles and who have reached a consensus as to what an opera article should look like and consist of.
Now, there has been a revival of discussion here about the very thing which concerns you, that is 20 pictures of Mr. Verdi et al. I am in support of User talk:voceditenore's suggestion that we re-examine this issue.
Meanwhile, however, it is not very helpful to start removing composer boxes from articles until this is discussed. You do not have to be a member of the opera group to contribute, so please do so. Viva-Verdi (talk) 17:36, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Opera info boxes: composer versus opera title[edit]

You appear to be jumping the gun here by arbitrarily removing composer info boxes before there has been a consensus developed. Comments were made regarding the addition of the librettists' boxes. In order to focus now on the info boxes for each opera, I have created a new section: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Opera#Composer info boxes on opera articles for comments to be made. Viva-Verdi (talk) 18:12, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

There is a broad consensus, just read the statements. I'm just bored by always seeing the same face when I want to read something about a different opera.--Meister und Margarita (talk) 22:52, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
Well, from your summary of the "pro" and "con" views, it looks as though there is a majority in favour. Now Mr. M.B. seems to have come over as well, with the few changes he has made to the Rosenkavalier box....!
I like the way you've been making them look (with the minor quibble of the template hardly needing to Wikilink the work "opera" - which is not your fault!) so keep up the good work. Best, Viva-Verdi (talk) 14:00, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Questions for the template should go to the template talk, - thanks for your help, both, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:41, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Travatore and info boxes[edit]

Thanks for your note on my Talk page. Certainly, I'm not in for fighting. Consensus is the thing. Now, re: Trov. pix, I see elsewhere that you've said that Salzburg has donated many images, which is great, because that was to be my first question. Can you now legally upload them to WikiCommons? If so, that would be wonderful for use in the article and info box.

As it turns out, I've been doing a lot of work on Bellini articles recently, so have played around with a few Bellini info boxes in my Sandbox rather than deal with Verdi right now. But I'll get to him. I like the look of your Rosenkavalier" box very much. Nice image!

Please continue your discussions on the WP:OPERA page as the central place for discussion, but it looks as though (with one objection so far) that we'll get the info boxes per individual opera up pretty soon. Best, Viva-Verdi (talk) 03:47, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

Thank You for Your nice words. We will have the Trovatore pictures by September 2nd, 2014 with all copy rights on WikiCommons. I hope You will like them. Very interested in Your Bellini work as well, but I only saw five of his opera till now. Liked them all. Best, --Meister und Margarita (talk) 07:28, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

Trovatore images[edit]

Have just had time to look at the uploaded images and, without cropping one or two, don't think they fit in the top-of-page position (and if one is there, it should be in an info box -see Bellini articles- and be vertical in nature.) I've no problems in retiring good ol' Verdi from that position.

The uploaded picture will work much better in relation to where it fits into the synopsis of the opera. Viva-Verdi (talk) 23:59, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Hate to disagree, but IMHO this pic perfectly tells the story of the opera: One deplorable lady stuck in between two mad brothers, who don't know that they are brothers. (By the way: With this short explanation of the story I probably would win some bottles of wine, if this famous owner of a ristorante were still alive … Ok, Azucena (according to Verdi: the main character) is missing, but who cares … as long as she sings). Of what I know there are still some additional pics of the other fotografer coming - Peralta Torrejòn - and I desperately hope that they are technically better then what we have. I like the shapes, but I hate the grain - of what we have. Regards --Meister und Margarita (talk) 21:27, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Well, I'm not alone in feeling that this picture is not appropriate. Please take a look at the discussion I've initiated on the WP:OPERA talk page at

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages[edit]

hank you for your recent articles, including Leon Weintraub, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:30, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
