Information icon Hello, I'm Pharaoh of the Wizards. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made with this edit to List of The Walking Dead (TV series) characters, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 06:22, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for December 15[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of birds of British Columbia, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Sora and Dusky Flycatcher (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:08, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"State bird" campaign[edit]

Hello- I suggest you discuss your campaign of adding "State bird" sections—or changing existing sections to that name—with other editors before you continue. You may find that those edits don't fit in with the standards generally used on bird articles, and that they will be reverted. Eric talk 03:18, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

February 2014[edit]

Hello. I notice you've been changing the infoboxes on a number of US cities. For example, on "Boise, Idaho" you changed the "settlement_type" from "city" to "List of capitals in the United States|State Capital". In Template:Infobox settlement, it shows that this parameter is to be filled in as "Town, Village, City, Borough etc.", or as "City, Town, Village, Hamlet, Municipality, Reservation, etc." Why are you making these changes? Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 19:30, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Magnolia677 is correct. Please stop and discuss this before making more changes. Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 20:30, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Population estimates[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Hwy43. I noticed that you made a change to the articles, Ontario and Quebec, involving substitution of the latest federal census population with a more recent population estimate. It’s since been removed per WP:CANSTYLE#Population, which states “the population figure from the last official Statistics Canada census is the primary and definitive source for population data in articles.” This allows for consistent comparison among all provinces, territories, municipalities and communities across Canada.

Do note however that more recent population estimates can be mentioned in the articles per WP:CANSTYLE#Population, which further states “properly sourced intercensal population updates … may be provided in addition to the 2011 census data.”

If you need guidance on including population figures on Canadian articles, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Hwy43 (talk) 02:58, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox province or territory of Canada[edit]

Hello. Please discuss the changes on the template talk page before implementing them. For example, I have no idea what purpose is served by a field for "official name". What is the official name of Ontario? Ontario. Let's discuss first. Thanks.--Skeezix1000 (talk) 16:30, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merlin the 2nd we need you to reply or you may be blocked. -- Moxy (talk) 23:41, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the note on my talk page, Merlin. While many U.S. states do have official names (e.g. the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, etc.) which differ from the common names, the official names of Canadian provinces and territories are the same as the common names, so there is no need for separate field. In this situation, therefore, the fact that the U.S. template has this field is not a good reason to add it to the Canadian template. Please raise any other issues at Template talk:Infobox province or territory of Canada. Thanks. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 20:52, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We need you to communicate with us !!!! -- Moxy (talk) 23:47, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. Wikipedia is a collaborative effort, and communication is key to collaboration. The need Moxy expresses goes two ways. It is time for you, Merlin, to communicate. – S. Rich (talk) 00:31, 28 March 2014 (UTC) Start here: Template talk:Infobox province or territory of Canada 02:20, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Moxy, do note that Merlin has reached out to Skeezix1000 in response to the above thread.

Merlin, it is appreciated that you've responded. I suggest the same as Srich32977 however. Initiate a discussion at Template talk:Infobox province or territory of Canada for the benefit of the larger audience. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 03:10, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hamilton, Ontario[edit]

Hello, you made an edit to the "Hamilton, Ontario" article today and I'd like you to please explain it. Wikipedia:WikiProject Canadian communities advises that Template:Infobox settlement be used for Canadian cities, such as Hamilton. In the "settlement_type", you changed "City" to "Independent city". At no place in "Template:Infobox settlement" is "independent city" an option. The Census Profile from Statistics Canada [1] for Hamilton does not call it an "Independent city". Before you make other edits, please respond here and tell me why you made this change? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:29, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merlin, same with your edit to Ottawa. "Independent city" is not an official municipal status type in Ontario. Please explain your intent here and maybe we can be of assistance. Hwy43 (talk) 21:34, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Can you also explain your changes to Cape Breton Regional Municipality? Your edit changed the name to Cape Breton, when Cape Breton Regional Municipality is actually the correct name. Cape Breton is where the CBRM is located but there are other municipalities there, so to say the name of the municipality is simply Cape Breton is not correct.
