November 2013[edit]

Information icon It may not have been your intention, but one of your edits, specifically one that you made on Liam Neeson, may have introduced material that some consider controversial. Due to this, your edits may have been reverted. When adding material that may be controversial, it is good practice to first discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them, to gain consensus over whether or not to include the text, phrasing, etc. If you believe that the information you added was correct, please initiate that discussion. Thank you. Murry1975 (talk) 21:41, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

County edits[edit]

You recent edits to the Northern Ireland county articles have been reverted. The GAA flag represents the GAA counties, not the former administrative counties of Northern Ireland. Those flags belong to their relevant article, i.e. Antrim GAA, which I notice doesn't have it, just the GAA county crest. So maybe you could add the GAA flags to the relevant GAA county articles.

Also the order of infobox locations should have the sovereign state (UK) and the region of it (NI) put before any historical areas that no longer exist. Mabuska (talk) 22:22, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:KimJongun2009123.png[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:KimJongun2009123.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. MASEM (t) 00:38, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:HenryHillABC2004.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:HenryHillABC2004.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

Wikilinking[edit]

Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

  • dates
  • years
  • commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
  • common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).

This is true also for infoboxes.

Thanks and my best wishes.

Addresses[edit]

FYI, per WP:BLP, "articles should not include postal addresses, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, or other contact information for living persons". A street address is contact information, and needs to be deleted. Thanks.Anythingyouwant (talk) 00:49, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Darryl Smith (politician)[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Darryl Smith (politician) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article. The nominator also raised the following concern:

All biographies of living people created after March 18, 2010, must have references.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hirolovesswords (talk) 12:13, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

Sources[edit]

Various discussions have decided that we should not use IMBD as a source for biographies, so I've reverted you. No reason you would know that in advance. Dougweller (talk) 14:35, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for May 17[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Scotch-Irish Canadian, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages British Canadian and William of Orange (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

License tagging for File:California CCW Map.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:California CCW Map.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:06, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Scotch-Irish Canadian[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Ulster Scots Canadians a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Scotch-Irish Canadian. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. – Paine Ellsworth CLIMAX! 10:48, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Notification of automated file description generation[edit]

Your upload of File:California CCW Map.png or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Image source and copyright licensing problem with File:Flag of the Kakish Freedom Fighters.png[edit]

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Flag of the Kakish Freedom Fighters.png.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work contained within this image, you will need to specify

  1. the creator of the original work
  2. the copyright status of the original work, usually indicated by adding a licensing tag. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:52, 22 May 2014 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 11:52, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Why I reverted your edits[edit]

Greetings: I reverted your edits to Humboldt County, California because the image you swapped in as the lede image was not taken in Humboldt County!! I appreciate the idea to make the top picture more "redwoody", however, reading the description of the image you linked should have given you pause because the Jedediah Smith unit so clearly stated in its description is in Del Norte County, California, not in Humboldt. Please when making edits to pages, be sure they are accurate. It took me 3 seconds with google to confirm that this image was taken in Del Norte County. See http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=413 where it gives the parks location relative to Crescent City, making it impossible to be Humboldt County. Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:18, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Categories and templates[edit]

Greetings: I have worked on the category you started to create "Category:Wikipedians in Humboldt County, California" to finish creation of that page and also to add an uplink to the parent category "Category:Wikipedians in Northern California". Category creation requires that the category be linked upwards so it can be found. If you need any help, please do not hesitate to call on me. Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:42, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
