[edit] Nodaway River

Thank you so much for simplifying the Nodaway River etymology (which was one of my earliest articles). Thanks again! Americasroof (talk) 22:15, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

No problem! And thank you for all your hard work at Wikipedia. --Miskwito (talk) 22:17, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Gourdinian

Hello, Miskwito- my article on the Gourdinian Language is not yet completed. I'm contacting you as you seemed to be the most approachable person, and this is my approach. First of all my Shelfari account has been hacked- you may notice it has not been used for at least a month, probably more. Secondly, as my article points out, there is debate over whether Gourdinian should be considered as a conlang or as a Romance Language. I can tell you as one of twelve linguists who added the "made up" parts of the language that it took a long time to decide what to add, with consultation from more than the aforementioned twelve. So, there is indeed some "made up" content. Whether or not it is romance or conlang is under debate, and by the time I'd finished my article it was to be decided whether to classify it as romance or conlang; you may notice I haven't added an Infobox to the page- this is why.

Personally, I'm not bothered whether it is considered as romance or conlang, as my article implies all I want is a little more recognition. If I returned to the Committee of linguists and convinced them to classify Gourdinian as a conlang, would the article then be allowed to remain?

Many Thanks, Olenia Olyosia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by OllyOlyosia (talkcontribs) 14:42, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Your edit summary

Edit summaries are permanent, so try not to be as vitriolic as you were here. I'm Canadian, and I know about Tobago supposedly being Robinson Crusoe's island. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 09:25, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Wow, that honestly has to be one of the most sincere replies I've seen on Wikipedia. Thanks, and yes, I'm sure our future interactions will be awesome! (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 08:41, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Ottawa language

I'm thinking of putting Ottawa language up for Featured Article, although the process seems rather arduous. Any suggestions on parts that need more work would be appreciated; putting comments on Talk:Ottawa language would help keep track. Thanks. Jomeara421 (talk) 01:39, 30 May 2009 (UTC) John

FYI, I have nominated this article. Go to Ottawa FAC to see comments. Jomeara421 (talk) 22:03, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Extremaduran

¿Podrias ayudarme?, lo que sucede es que en el artículo Extremaduran language, hay muchas citas requeridas (citations neededs), e intento poner las referencias, pero aparecen repetidas. Un saludo --Ille extremadurensis (talk) 01:40, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Etymology of OK

I am new to Wikipedia and am putting together an upgrade on the Choctaw etymology of OK that is currently found in the Okay page. It is in response to the two "serious criticisms" of that etymology 1) why a word from a people restricted to America's south coast would become popular and 2)the lack of a written record clearly linking the English usage with its prior usage.

I think the current Wikipedia discussion of the topic is pretty disparaging and not particularly done in good faith.

I understand you are trying to limit your Wikipedia efforts these days, but if you could direct me to someone who would be willing to help me in the effort I would greatly appreciate it.

My current draft is in my talk page.

I look forward to hearing from you. And as I say, I am new to all this, so if you have any suggestions about the mechanics of getting things done on Wikipedia, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for your consideration.

[edit] Sourcing for the Ojibwe grammar article.

Miskwito; Some of the material in the Ojibwe grammar article -- especially the Person and the Transitives sections -- needs better referencing/citations/sourcing. (Also, although the notatin 0 is used as described in verb-paradigms for Algonquian languages, the term zeroth person is not used in linguistics: I have emails from Rand Valentine, Laura Welcher, and Anna Siewierska.) Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you. --Eldin raigmore (talk) 18:42, 29 October 2009 (UTC) --Eldin raigmore (talk) 18:26, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] List of U.S. state name etymologies

How could you. I am so disappointed. I didn't raise you to do this, so what did I do to make you hurt me by vandalising such an article? Oy, Mrs Sternberg is going to be so upset. You never call, you never ring, here I am just sitting alone in my Brooklyn apartment asking for nothing but - Pthag (talk) 09:24, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Meal ticket (idiom)

I believe an etymology section in the article Meal ticket (idiom) would be of help. Asinthior (talk) 16:09, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
