Hi there[edit]

Hello. You've created/developed a lot of articles. Also, the reason I noticed your contributions, there has just been a geo article you created, moved counter the VN geo RMs at Talk:Cà Mau. Would you mind if I restored it?

My friend used to be in same band as Phạm Quỳnh Anh :). I'm still learning Vietnamese language, but I think finding information about Bảo Thy is pretty easy too as she usually attends same events as my friend. Monni (talk) 12:37, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Lucky friend :) Bảo Thy is missing a place of birth. But anyway, have a browse round the articles and feel free to change anything. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 18:12, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I could ask Bảo Thy herself but that would be original research... Not all singers want to tell their place of birth, even if they give their current city of residence. Monni (talk) 18:28, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No need! :) No seriously, if it isn't published, (and I didn't notice it in vi.wp article or sources) then it shouldn't be in article, it was just a random example; as we both know we have to be very careful with BLPs. I was just simply saying that the stubs I did could benefit from a little filling out. Btw - I just caught your comment at Talk:Phước Bình. You're right, place names can be almost anything with the accents gone. Even with the accent there it's difficult to guess what the underlying Chinese is sometimes. Cheers In ictu oculi (talk) 18:40, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
When I have had conversations with younger Vietnamese people, very often they have replied without diacritics... I have had to explicitly mention I want the reply in formal Vietnamese and not in so called chat language. Helps a little that more and more are pretty fluent in English. Not all Vietnamese place names are based on Chinese script (hanzi/hantu), some are transliterations or translations from for example Khmer. Monni (talk) 18:49, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Er, not only have I had exactly the same experience, mea culpa, I'm also guilty of doing it - just as I'd write "thru" and "CU" in an English email. Yeah, sure there's a whole lot of Montagnard and all sorts on non-Sino names. But for the ones that are Sino it's worth keeping the accents. In case you're interested, I listed, with additions from a few other editors, a few near people homonyms at Vietnamese names. There's more for place names. In ictu oculi (talk) 19:00, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hey, hi again. I saw your comment on Phước Long - FYI there's actually another related Phước Long RM already ongoing on the bottom of the WP:RM list which should have been mentioned by the proposer. I have mentioned it there now so that anyone else will be aware. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 03:47, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want to start anything personal with Kauffner, in my opinion the proposal just wasn't the best possible solution and would need alternatives to get majority to support renaming. Monni (talk) 04:05, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Swingz (band)[edit]

Hello Monni95,

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Dianakc (talk) 18:51, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Coleske requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 21:50, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Louis (South Korean singer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 11:15, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
