Welcome to Wikipedia[edit]

Home Sweet Home : Click on the image for more information about it

Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for visiting my talk page. My name is Jim, and I edit here with the username of "Cullen328". I've been contributing to Wikipedia for 2-1/2 years now. I am an Online Ambassador, and I have offered to help students in your class. Please feel free to ask me any questions at all about editing Wikipedia.

There are many helpful resources available for new Wikipedia editors. One that I like is WP:PRIMER, which is a one-stop introduction intended to help newcomers to better understand the basics of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The best advice that I can give you to learn how to be a good Wikipedia editor is to actually edit articles, edit talk pages and edit your own user page. Add high quality references to articles, improve the accuracy and improve the prose, and everyone here will sing your praises. Feel free to visit my user page and my talk page, and feel free to ask any question at any time. Thank you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:11, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Topics[edit]

  1. Heritability of personality traits
  2. Trends in development of personality traits
  3. Personality traits predictability of life outcomes

The first topic would primarily be Genetics of personality with nature versus nurture. To cover the topic completely, you'd also have to include a bit about genetics. See Heritability of IQ for example which is largely a statistical article. I don't know what "Trends in development of personality traits" means. Personality traits predictability of life outcomes could be an interesting article. It could be titled Personality traits and longevity. See also Cognitive epidemiology.Smallman12q (talk) 00:02, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, sorry. What I meant by that was trends in the Big Five personality traits over the lifespan (ie; levels of extraversion in early adulthood compared to old age, or childhood, etc.) Thanks for the input! I might to the life outcomes page. Moonpe11 (talk) 23:32, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Moonpe11, I think you have chosen a good topic. However, I am not precisely sure what you mean. Do you mean to write about outcomes such as happiness, longevity, and career success, or do you mean to write about the development of traits across the life span? Either article could be interesting. As Smallman12q noted, personality traits and longevity would make a very nice page on its own. William Fleeson (talk) 00:49, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I meant as in personality traits predicting relational outcomes, occupational outcomes, and happiness, stuff along those lines. I'm not super interested in the development of them across the lifespan, but I could add that in if it's relevant. Thanks for the input! Moonpe11 (talk) 20:12, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Super. I think "Personality traits predicting relational outcomes" is an excellent choice, and likely to be highly read and edited by others. William Fleeson (talk) 21:13, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Citation stuff[edit]

Moonpe11, for multiple references to the same footnote, the first time you cite the reference, use

<ref name=CITATION NICKNAME>WHAT YOU WANT IN FOOTNOTE HERE APA STYLE</ref>

then each time you recite, you can just type

<ref name=CITATION NICKNAME /> Linp11 (talk) 17:29, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sweeeeeeeet! Thanks so much. That'll make my article look much better.Moonpe11 (talk) 20:39, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Moves[edit]

Hey Moonpe11, I noticed you tried to move Personality and life outcomes - however, it appears that you accidentally moved it to an invalid username, so I've moved it back. Can you explain what you were trying to do and why? Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 20:54, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Nikkimaria, I moved it because I was trying to take it offline while I work on it. I'm going to shorten it and merge it with the Big Five personality traits page so I didn't want it searchable. Haha, I guess I don't know how to get it back in my sandbox.Moonpe11 (talk) 22:17, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, it's back in your sandbox now. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:13, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, awesome! Thanks so much, and sorry for any confusion my moving made have caused. Moonpe11 (talk) 19:15, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PLEASE stop moving articles around yourself, and ask for help. We don't put periods at the end of article titles, and all of these faulty moves you are doing are creating an enormous mess that can only be fixed by admins. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:52, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
