May be of interest[edit]

Hi, started a discussion @ Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Infobox- Teams managed regarding the Alan Wright infobox, thought it may be of interest to you whenever it gets some answers. As you can see my opinion on the matter but I'm open to be corrected. Regards Narom (talk) 17:34, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Benteke[edit]

Well, when Benteke was born, it was Zaire not DR Congo. And was the same for 7 years after he was born. I don't think it's needed to repeat "Kinshasa, Zaire" in the body of the text because it's already in the infobox. The Madras (talk) 09:42, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

Point taken, but surely the Kinshasa, DR Congo and Zaire articles will tell you that, it's not the job of the Benteke article! I suppose you could leave the infobox as it is, and put it in the main body? The Madras (talk) 11:04, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

NextGen Series[edit]

Hi. How many competitions have been just "suspended" and it continues suspended forever? It's always better for the owners to postpone instead of admiting the end of their creations. In fact in last 2 weeks, NextGen organiser said again that there will be a competition soon, suported by the fact of teams like Fulham, but most of all Man. United being out of Champions League, an so out of Youth League.

Ok, NextGen still not abolished, but one year after now, 2 years after, the competition will continue to be just suspended unless the organizers says "it's canceled"?Rpo.castro (talk) 20:51, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Well, I suppose it is made clear in the text that the tournament is currently suspended, if it does start again next season then we can just remove the 'abolished date'. Thanks. Mountaincirque 09:18, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 20[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kevin-Prince Boateng, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page 1954 World Cup (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Football statistics[edit]

Hi, many thanks for taking some interest in updating the infobox statistics for footballers. It would be useful if you could set the timestamps for the changes at the same time as you change the appearance/goal figures. There is a field name |pcupdate= or |club-update=, usually at the bottom of the template, that should be changed. The equivalent for international matches is |ntupdate= or |nationalteam-update=. All you have to do is replace the contents of the field with 5 tilde characters, ~~~~~, which when saved will be converted into the date/time of the change. Regards. Proposed deletion of Aidan Grant[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Aidan Grant has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Has not played first team football in a fully professional league, so fails WP:NFOOTBALL and WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File:Didcot, town centre.jpg[edit]

Hi, did you take this photo today? --Redrose64 (talk) 12:35, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

@Redrose64: A couple of weeks ago, is it ok?. Mountaincirque 12:42, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
The reason that I ask is because you put today's date into the |date= parameter, and the weather in the photo doesn't match the weather in Didcot today: in the photo, there are strong shadows, hardly any cloud, and the person just left of centre (facing camera) is wearing a short-sleeve shirt; but today, there isn't much sunlight - there are too many clouds, and it's windy and quite cool. The |date= parameter is supposed to be the date when the picture was created; it also affects whether I put the pic into c:Category:September 2014 in Oxfordshire or c:Category:October 2014 in Oxfordshire. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:31, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
It was last month, I have corrected the date now, when I uploaded it the field said date taken or first published, so I took the first published day to be today. Thanks for the info! Mountaincirque 13:34, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
I take it that you used the Upload Wizard on commons - I've never successfully used this: it's slow, the interface is horrible, and when unexpected things happen it's very difficult to work out why. Today, I can't even get as far as the bit where you enter the date, so I can't check on what it asks for. But if it does say "first published", that's for images that were obtained from another website, such as Geograph.
Anyway. Do you live in or near Didcot? There is a Wikipedia Meetup every month in Oxford; the next one is on 19 October. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:16, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Updating Aston Villa Players for 2014-15[edit]

I'm relatively new here, and i'm on here to help with football articles, just wondering if you could help me out with updating a few of our beloved villa players summaries. Also, how do you get the user boxes? That's probably a silly question. Cheers -Kyle — Preceding unsigned comment added by AVHolloway (talkcontribs) 12:12, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

a Didcot[edit]

Hi, re this revert - it is fictitious - an online search probably won't turn up this book, which AFAIK is the only place where it's mentioned:

Can't tell you the page, I've misplaced my copy. Stephen Fry was caught out by John Lloyd in an episode of QI when Lloyd fed him this "fact". --Redrose64 (talk) 14:58, 11 February 2015 (UTC)
