Negroni cocktail[edit]

Hello,

If you've added your email address to your profile then you can email me through Wikipedia which might make any further discussions easier.

As for the Negroni article, the problems with the edits from the Negroni family are mainly procedural, ie, they are not in line with the policies and guidelines of Wikipedia. One of the cornerstones of Wikipedia is that every claim be verifiable meaning that anyone reading an article should be able to verify the claims against a reliable source. Reliable sources are those published sources that are generally regarded as reliable by experts within a field. What this means is that we cannot just take someone's word for something even if they are a family member. If after your research you get your article published in a publication that is considered a reliable source (like the NY Times or a non-self-published book) then we can include that information in the article, but as it stands as long as its just family hearsay then it does not belong in Wikipedia.

Also, the most recent edits from the person claiming to be part of the family have basically just been personal essays inserted into the article. That kind of essay is obviously not the proper tone for an encyclopedia.

As for the Count Camillo origin story I have no opinion concerning its reliability. That's really not what we as editors of Wikipedia deal with. All we do is summarize what other reliable sources (ideally secondary sources) state. For us to insert our own opinions or knowledge (even if any one of us is the world's greatest expert on the subject) is what is called original research and against policy.

That said, members of the Negroni family have been spamming cocktail forums all over the internet for a very long time and have yet to produce any reliable sources for their claims. I am a mixed drink enthusiast and have researched the general subject in some detail but have not taken any particular interest in the Negroni other than making sure the article follows the policies and guidelines of Wikipedia.
