In your edit you state: "main image should show what is actually taking place". Isn't that what the image that I put there does? A single picture doesn't show anything "taking place". The sequence definitely shows something taking place. --TimL (talk) 11:08, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Because there are so many small images, I've reconsidered, and think that a single image for the "hook" is fine. It would be nice to have something like this somewhere on the lunar eclipse article, the only problem is that article needs some work, is a bit short right now with not much room for images. [edit] Re Black-headed Heron
The reason I asked is that the feathers appear to get quite soft across the shoulder, indicative of the softness often induced by stitching programs to help the separate images blend together better without a stitching line. Above and below that point the feathers are quite sharp and distinct. Not much you can do about it I don't expect (and not something I'd oppose on), but it makes it arguable whether it's worth doing 'panoramas' of that type of thing. - I can probably fix the softness with a blended + layers option in PTGui and then editing the image selectively but I doubt it is worth all the trouble since only an astute observer would notice such minor softness (I confess, I hadn't seen it myself). Whether it's worth or not is debatable. After doing this, I was thinking how nice it would be to have a Canon MPE-65mm macro and covering a small animal, let's say at 5:1 magnification, focus stacking the images, stitching the results and getting a final gigapixel image that can be zoomed in to see lice on the animal!
