Embryonics Project page

Hi. On 1st of March you edited the Embryonics Project page with the two tags copyedit and wikify. As I'm quite new to wikipedia, i.e. only 2 pages written and the first without many comments, I would like to know if you have some suggestions to improve the Embryonics page. WP:DATE

WP:DATE states:
Dates that are given as ranges should follow the same patterns as given above for birth and death dates. Ranges that come up to the present (as of the time that the information was added to the article) should generally be given in ways that prevent their becoming counterfactually obsolete, e.g. from 1996 onward (as of October 2007), not from 1996 to the present; "the present" is a constantly moving target. In the main text of articles, the form 1996– (with no date after the en-dash) should not be used, though it is preferred in infoboxes and other crowded templates or lists, with the caveat that they may need to be examined by editors more frequently to see if they need to be updated; it is helpful to other editors to add an HTML comment immediately after such constructions, giving the as-of date, e.g.: <!--as of 10 October 2007-->. The form since 1996 should be used in favor of 1996–present in article text and infoboxes.
It does not say which one is better. First it says you should use onward or a similar form, then it says you should use since instead of –present. I think both are acceptable, however it would be a good idea to ask at Wikipedia Talk:DATE. Mushroom (Talk) 22:45, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Farrah Fawcett

So, despite the fact that the documentary about Fawcett Farrah's Story was viewed by 8.9 million individuals the night it debuted and the documentary's popularity increased by 1,888% [1] in the week following her death, she is not important enough to be included in current events? I mean, i know 8.9 million is small in comparison to the total global population, but she was kind of a big deal to a LOT of people. (RFL8188 (talk) 07:49, 1 July 2009 (UTC))

She is listed at Recent deaths. Portal:Current events has a policy that states:
Do not list the ordinary deaths of prominent persons here. That's what recent deaths is for. Exceptions to this rule are made for persons of extreme prominence, such as Ronald Reagan, John Paul II, or the Queen Mother.

NPOV

This shows an inappropriate move from "political crisis" to "coup". To use admin tools in pushing a POV has lead to desysops by ArbCom before. I did not move the article from "political crisis" to "coup". I moved it from Honduran coup d'état of 2009 to 2009 Honduran coup d'état, for consistency reasons. The person who moved it to "coup" was User:Homunq, as you can see here. If the consensus is to move the page back to its original name, you can request the move at Wikipedia:Requested moves. By the way, since you seem to be such a bright fellow, perhaps you can tell me whether this sentence (in section 2 of the article) needs editing (and if so, how), or do you find it acceptable as you left it: "The size of the main body is estimated as larger than 4 meters." It seems to me that a simple linear measure is inadequate here. Is the main body estimated as larger than 4 cubic meters or is it estimated as larger than 4 meters in diameter? Question

I am new to Wikipedia and enjoy it very much.. I always have used it as a reference in the past but being able to edit and comment with other users is so fun! Anyways, On my watchlist, I see the name of the article, (diff) (hist) <name> and then (+/- a number) ... what does (diff) and the number mean? The numbers are used to allow an editor to quickly determine what an editor has changed on the watchlist by how many charaters or either added or deleted by their edit. If the change is +1 or -1 it is unlikely to be watched as closely as if one show -1638 or even a large removal of information from an article such as -23000. You will soon get the hang of it. I don't understand why you reverted some spam, then ignored my final warning posted two days earlier at the user's talk page, and posted an "only warning". Please Shed Some Light

Hi! I've got a couple of questions, admittedly a little embarrassed I don't know the answers to.

1) What is the story with the "points system" that follows each edit, and who determines this?

2) I happen to have recently deleted some comments on my personal page. I noticed that this edit incurred a rating of some -2900 points or so! Thing is, I left these comments unmolested on my page for a good six months to demonstrate my own neutrality. I did figure it was about time to remove these out-of-context irate comments from another user who thought I was accusing him of bad faith. How can I archive these comments so that they do not appear on my page, but are saved in a way that shows that I'm not trying to hide any conversations? Any help is appreciated! Thanks! Hi! There is no "points system", that number is just the number of characters you added or removed. So if you remove some text it will be negative, however that negative number is not a judgment on the quality of your edits. Mushroom if you fully read the article on "Pope Benedict XVI meets and forgives assailant Susanna Maiolo" it clearly states "While at Subiaco she was visited by Pope Benedict’s personal secretary, Monsignor Georg Gaenswein. The Vatican said that the Pope had wanted to show his “concern for her wellbeing”. So the title that I use is correct. Yes I do. That MySpace blog is written by the band itself, so your claim that its authorship is unknown is patently false. Blabbermouth is a notable and reliable source, BBC is of course even more notable and reliable, Candlelight Records is a notable label. Given that the article already has these three sources, adding a fourth primary one is consistent with WP:RS. And by the way when you revert my edits you should keep the improvements I made to the article instead of reverting everything just to remove the MySpace link. Nonsense! I have taken the article off my Watch list as I am not particularly bothered either way. What is of concern is the undermining of the overall quality of Wikipedia by crap articles such as this one. Wikipedia has a requirement for verifiability which is only interested in "verifiability, not truth". Anyone can set up a MySpace page without some verifiable sources we have no way of knowing who they are. Do you think Jimi Hendrix wrote "Jimi Hendrix's Latest Blog Entry" on his MySpace page? The BBC page says "We currently have no biography for this artist." and then refers back to this article. Which is about the measure of this band and this article. Where are the "multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician or ensemble itself"? Lame Name (talk) 06:03, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
That MySpace page is confirmed as official because it is linked by the band's official website, their current label's website, and their former label's website, so there is no doubt about the author. I also think the band is notable according to WP:MUSIC (#5 two albums on a notable label, #6 a notable musician). However I'm not saying the article is OK as it currently is, and it is my intention to improve it as much as possible in the next few weeks. I suggest you visit the page again in two weeks or so and if you still think it's crap feel free to nominate it for deletion. I will vote against it but in the end it's not up to me to decide. Hi I just wanted to say that you deleted an article I created about Anne ryan. It is about a very famous prostitute here in Ireland and her case was heavily covered by the Irish media at the time. Why did you revert my edits?

Why did you revert my edits on List of sole survivors of aviation accidents or incidents? I spent several hours researching Google Archives and the ASN database to update this list. There being no article in Wikipedia on specific plane crashes does not mean that these crashes never occured.

Rather than reverting edits, you should take the time to verify yourself, through Google Archives, whether the information I put in is accurate. old IP block

YOu blocked 202.159.203.0/24 indefinitely back in 2006 with the reason '256 Indian open proxies'. I don't see any suggestion that they are still proxy, they're in a residential ISP range with Mahanagar Telephone. Yes, the sandbox will be publicly readable and editable. You should create the page in your userspace, for instance at User:Lexysexy/NAME where NAME is the name of the article, then when it is finished move it to article space. I am currently working on the Wiki page for Ms Radha Thomas. She is an Indian jazz singer and songwriter. In fact, she is known as a diva in the Indian jazz scene. She previously was with the band Human Bondage and has sung and performed globally. The article is still under development. I haven't completed it or submitted it for review yet. Hello there, would you please be able to help me ? Previously you have deleted a page called "Ecoute". I would like to create a page with the same title but for a software application. I do thank you so much for your help, as I am a newbie and this was my first article. THANK YOU. I am a bit converned though because since yesterday there is an IP address (23.23.86.226) that keeps vandalizing the page. Actions for the past 48 hours evidently indicate vandalism (removes all content of the page & by adding sexual content (words) that are out of place and not appropriate with the subject). Well I think it is inappropriate because it is not a well-established news organization as defined in our reliable sources guideline. The website was created just a few months ago, it doesn't name its editorial staff, and the owner of the site self-identifies as "a journalist in training". Please don't add it back. Mushroom (Talk)

Accent for Daniela Santanchè

Hi Mushroom,

I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out whether the accent should be acute or grave. Both versions are attested. Probably I went with acute because a grave accent on an e at the end of a word really looks pretty strange (the single-letter word è has a grave accent, but I can't immediately think of another exception, and all the conjunctions that end in ché have acute ones). Do you have a particular rationale for this choice?

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers.
