Link leads to adverts[edit]

The link at the foot of this article, History and Recipes, leads to the Waitrose (UK Supermarket) site. True, it allows access to some recipes but none about quinces. Nothing against Waitrose, a fine company, but it seems to me to be advertising. Segilla (talk) 18:50, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

I don't believe it was originally meant as advertising. The actual link itself in the article is to, but it now redirects to Most likely the original page linked to had information about the history and recipes of quince. But since that page no longer is accessible and it redirects to the company's main site, the link is no longer appropriate and should be removed. --Mysdaao talk 00:40, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Sorry to be dense, but can I take it that this quince page has now been changed since there is no longer any 'History and Recipes' at its foot?Segilla (talk) 14:23, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
That's right. It was first changed on November 30 so the link pointed to the main site, and then the link was removed altogether. --Mysdaao talk 18:30, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Help with Common Eland[edit]

Hello Mysdaao! I need your help with fixing up an article. If you can, please fix up the references of the Common Eland article. I find it a bit difficult all by myself and I would like your help if possible, else I am sorry for disturbing you, seeing you are semi-retired. Thanks in advance. --Sainsf <^> (talk) 13:48, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

What specifically about the references do you think needs fixing? --Mysdaao talk 17:05, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
Well, the citations do not seem to meet the WP:RS, as said at the peer review and the good article review it has undergone. If you think there are other problems to be fixed as well, please help, as I have been working since days to make this a good article. --Sainsf <^> (talk) 05:09, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
I don't see anything I can do. The main referencing problem, as pointed out in the peer review and good article review, is that parts of the article are unsourced, and some of the sources are not considered reliable. I don't have the expertise to know where to find reliable sources that are needed for this information. I'm sorry, but I don't think I can help with this article. --Mysdaao talk 20:57, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Barry Cooper musicologist[edit]

This man has his own page but was not listed in notable inhabitants of Westcliff on Sea. I attempted to remedy this but the link I made pointed to the Barry Cooper disambiguation page, not to Barry Cooper the musicologist.

Using the John Smith explorer example I have attempted to correct my error but think after many efforts I've simply gone round in a circle.

This is what I have input - but see preview for my formatting

Please point out where I am wrong. Segilla (talk) 15:25, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

You want a link pointing to Barry Cooper (musicologist) that displays the text "Barry Cooper". This is how you do it.
[[Barry Cooper (musicologist)|Barry Cooper]] creates Barry Cooper. Put the article name first, then a |, then the text to display to the user.
See Help:Link#Piped link for more details on this. --Mysdaao talk 18:39, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
It worked. Thanks MysdaaoSegilla (talk) 20:52, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
