Divorce mill vs. Divorce Mill[edit]

I wrote this on the talk page before I saw your note:

A user just blanked the article and rewrote it as a redirect to Divorce Mill. Couple of points

  1. it is not a proper name (as in Burger King) it is a generic term - also,
  2. you would MOVE the page not redirect it so as to keep the histories intact

Thanks Glen 08:35, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed it wasn't hitting the page properly so I moved it, and it is apparently incorrectly. Please fix it if you think it shouldn't be regarded as a proper noun, I am perhaps mistaken there. I am the one who wrote the page months ago and just taking a curious look back. Thanks. Nephalim 08:39, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Nephalim[reply]
Okay, all sorted. I've now merged the page histories frpom Divorce Mill --> Divorce mill, so all your latest changes (to either article) are now intact. I feel for ya, I went through a divorce in 2003, certainly not fun. Keep up the great work :) Glen 08:50, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! The pain of that is long over, luckily, but was a real strain as while I had been seperated physically and emotionally from my previous spouse for over a year, I never had a formal divorce, and I had immigration issues (American marrying an Australian and relocating there at least temporarily.) Nothing could go anywhere in any way in that regard until I was properly divorced (and she was banned from the US for another year at the time for overstaying her previous visa in a prior marriage, what a mess). I hope it will be useful, somehow, but now that Guam requires a 7-day stay there is little out there for fast uncontested (esp. no children) divorces. There is a short version of this (that I wrote) that's been on the main Divorce page for a while. Nephalim 08:59, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yikes! That sucks :( I can imagine, but, if it helps be thankful you do not live in New Zealand, here the only grounds for divorce is irreconcilable differences, and that can only be shown via a two year complete separation! Coincidently I got married in Australia (tho she is a Kiwi), we were together 3 years, got married, then separated 2 months later! So married 2 months, then had to wait 24 months later to get it formalised... eeek.
Wow! In that case, irreconcilable differences is just nomenclature and a seperation agreement for TWO years (unusual) is required, pretty extreme. What about spousal abuse, for example? I don't know about New Zealand's laws in regard to getting divorces overseas, but at least I should look in to Australia's to add to this and the Divorce page if needed. I know in Australia if you were married under two years you require conseling to make sure the marriage cannot be salvaged. I do not remember how long is required for this to take, however, if at all, but otherwise it's laws are similar to New York. It's residency requirements are easier however, only requiring you to consider Australia your 'permanent home' (I think that was the wording), immigration be dammed.
I should perhaps add that divorces from other countries might not be accepted by your new celebrant as they have them here, even if they ARE legitimate, but you could always shop around.Nephalim 09:57, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we live and learn huh?! :) Will look at your changes now and let you know if I have any suggestions :) Glen 09:39, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a hint.[edit]

You asked why is writing older in Egypt, and what is it that nobody is telling us?

Here is a clue: Look at the Sphinx in Giza, compare its head shape with Homo Sapiens and then compare it with Homo Erectus skull, then tell me what species is the Sphinx a better match for? Yes, the Sumerians were much later, by their own tradition they were post-Diluvian and thus Sapiens like us... ፈቃደ (ውይይት) 04:52, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
