Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

And in one of those weird wiki-coincidences, your first opportunity to use it was on the Caesar salad article, which I have been watching for....ugh, way too long, at least five years and I am actually the one who placed under PC protection. There used to be some recurring vandal who kept trying to say it was actually invented in ancient Rome. They seem to have moved on but the article seems to have a strange draw for people who vandalize. Beeblebrox (talk) 23:30, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
I wonder what it is about Caesar salad that attracts vandals and test edits... Novusuna talk 01:53, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Yes, User:Future_Perfect_at_Sunrise did say that, but that doesn't explain why you are doing so, unless you are Future Perfect logged out, in which case your privacy has been leaked. Nor does it explain why you placed a block template on an unblocked account, which has been reverted, using another user's signature. Novusuna talk 20:42, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
I restored original revision, see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:GreekAlphabeta&oldid=582589166
And if you look at the block log, you can see that the block was mistaken and was removed yesterday. User:GreekAlphabeta isn't currently blocked. So why are you doing all of this? Novusuna talk 20:50, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Altruism.
Well, I'm going to leave your edits as they are, but for the record, deleting other people's comments on talk pages is often considered rude, although GreekAlphabeta's contributions were unhelpful in nature. As GreekAlphabeta is not currently blocked, no action should be taken against him/her at this time. Novusuna talk 21:08, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Hi Novusuna, just for your information, the IP here is again the same banned vandal who previously was trying to get GreekAlphabeta blocked. Fut.Perf. 21:28, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Your request for rollback

Hi Novusuna/Archive 1. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! John Reaves 22:46, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Many thanks, John Reaves. I'll be sure to be careful in my use of the tool. Novusuna talk 23:04, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

I edited the page on Phillis Bennis because of this quote from Wikipedia "Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately..." A note about my recent edit summaries

Because I am an idiot, I forgot to reset Stiki's AGF edit summary to the default, so the last few AGF reverts I have done claim to be because of an improperly formatted image link. This is incorrect for most of these reverts. Oops. Novusuna talk 20:22, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Homer reversion

I have no comment about the change from BC to BCE however using the pending-changes interface to revert it was uncollegial. Per pending changes the interface should only be used to revert obviously inappropriate content. Although it might be a distinction without a difference, accepting the edit through the pending changes interface then undoing it would have been the appropriate action. The IP was apparently acting in good faith, this is just a heads up as to the protocol for the future. Regards, Crazynas t 22:01, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

@Crazynas: I messed up. I always try to make sure that I'm following our policies and guidelines, I double-checked every relevant policy page before I asked for the reviewer right, and I still managed to forget the proper procedure. I shouldn't have done that, and I'm sorry. With so many editors against the use of pending changes at all, screw ups like mine really aren't good. Novusuna talk 22:50, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Though I may be beating myself up way too hard here, since upon reviewing the guidelines, I see that this section states "It isn't necessary for you to accept the revision before reverting even if you determine that there are no obstacles to accepting," though I agree it's probably better to do so for good faith edits. Novusuna talk 22:54, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
I wasn't trying to come down hard on you. Sorry if it came across that way. It's funny how there is always conflicting documentation around about stuff like this. Cheers, Crazynas t 04:05, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
You were perfectly reasonable, I just come down hard on myself when I make mistakes. Novusuna talk 04:21, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Edit war

Hello, As you have been seeing, There is a edit war going on between two editors regarding a village trail, I am wondering if the time has come to report this to the Edit warring noticeboard or dispute resolution. Your thoughts on going to a noticeboard? thanks, Happy_Attack_Dog (talk) 15:53, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

@Happy Attack Dog mobile: I don't think the two editors are going to be able to work this one out on their own, so I think it probably is time to report this to a noticeboard. This seems to be a local dispute that's spilled over onto the wiki. Laholland in particular is way out of line, in my opinion. Novusuna talk 19:10, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

List of works Eugene Guillaume

Thanks for your encouraging words on the listing

Weglinde (talk) 07:21, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

just a small problem you may be able to help me on. This morning I went to clear my sandbox of the "List of works by Eugene Guillaume" so that I could start on another listing but inadvertently removed the article completely. By undoing the edit I got the article back but notice that the article does not appear in the listing of articles created. Not the end of the world but if this is easily fixed and you can get the article into the listing I would be pleased. If it is not easily remedied then do not worry. Thanks

Weglinde (talk) 09:08, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

@Weglinde:Hmm...If you're referring to this list, then I still see the article listed there. Don't worry, all you did was accidentally blank the page. The article itself wasn't removed, and undoing that edit was all it took to fix it. Novusuna talk 09:58, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

You identified the correct list but when I go to that page the Guillaume listing is not mentioned. Anyway thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.

List of works by Auguste Carli

I would really appreciate some help. I created the above in my sandbox and have now moved it to wikipedia. Now I need to clear the sandbox for new work but each time I try to do this I end up removing the article from sandbox AND wikipedia. I would be grateful if you could advise the correct procedure. Thanks Weglinde (talk) 07:58, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

@Weglinde: The article has already been moved, so anything you do to the sandbox shouldn't have any actual effect on the mainspace article. I have taken the liberty of removing the redirect that was created when you moved the article from your sandbox, which I think is the cause of your problems. In the future, I believe there is a box you can uncheck while moving an article to prevent the redirect from being created. Novusuna talk 19:34, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

I am really grateful. Thanks

Weglinde (talk) 20:23, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

@Weglinde: One note, I was incorrect about there being an option to suppress the move. That does exist, but only for administrators. What you can do in the future, though, is to simply remove the #REDIRECT line from your sandbox after a move. Best of luck and happy editing. Novusuna talk 21:44, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice' Weglinde (talk) 08:29, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

AfDs need more input

Hi.

There are a couple of AfDs the desperately need additional high-quality input, either because they are relisted twice so far or have extremely low inputs so far. I thought it was high time I publicized them. Here they are:

Your input would be appreciated.

Captain Hereleven

Ah, I always read db-a11 as needing a more explicit "hi everyone, here's a thing I made up" tone to it, maybe that's not the case. The article didn't read any more made up than any other ghost story, to me, and if it's a new user joining Wikipedia to write about it, picking the name of the ghost as their username wouldn't be surprising.

I always figured db-hoax was (since the template doesn't support any explanation) for cases where any neutral third party reading the article would call it as a hoax without needing to do a single piece of research - this reads more likely a pre-existing ghost story that needs to be rewritten without the POV that it all really happened, at first glance. But given that it seems to be a publicity piece for an upcoming Halloween event, I've no objections to you flagging it as db-hoax if you want. --McGeddon (talk) 19:23, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

@McGeddon: Eh, I don't think it matters too much at this point. It looks pretty likely to be deleted once the PROD expires, as it's clearly a promotion/hoax that doesn't belong on the encyclopedia. Good work watching out for other new page patrollers to make sure we're doing it right. Novusuna talk 19:48, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

New deal for page patrollers

Hi Novusuna,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
