Re: Rash of new task forces

The rash continues...any chance you'd be willing to create a VAN logo for the future Vancouver Canucks task force? Thanks. – Nurmsook! (talk) 02:21, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

VAN Here you go. Bright colours this time. --Bamsefar75 (talk) 18:22, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

So Maxim and I have recently decided we are going to finish up the Linden article and go for FA status before the end of the month. Figured as the creater of the Canucks taskforce, you'd be interested in taking part. If so, take a look at the talk page. Kaiser matias (talk) 23:01, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

To keep you updated, I'm looking to nominate the article probably sometime Tuesday night. Any work you wanted to add to it would be great to have. Kaiser matias (talk) 21:18, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

FLC of List of Vancouver Canucks players

There are outstanding comments at Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Vancouver Canucks players which you nominated that need to be addressed. If they are left outstanding, it is likely that the nomination will fail. If you are still interested in helping to make the list Featured, please visit the nomination page again. Eric Brewer (ice hockey)

I made some copy edit changes in Eric Brewer (ice hockey). Please feel free to revert them. If you would like I can continue to copy edit the article as that is the sort of thing I do. Let me know if you want me to continue. Best, –Mattisse (Talk) 22:31, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

– is required by FAC rules for scores. The reason is so that a score will not be separated at a line break. Your article will not pass without that. That is one of the FAC buggaboos. –Mattisse (Talk) 02:12, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Incorrect changes

Hi, Nurmsook; I've edit conflicted a couple of times with you as I attempted to correct faulty dashes which have been introduced into the article since User:Epbr123's runthrough, where everything was correct. The new changes have used endashes where hyphens are called for, and you are switching correct endashes to html endashes, which isn't necessary. You can either revert back to Epbr123's version, or you could ask him to re-do it all, but the new changes (replacing hyphens with endashes) are incorrect, and the changes of hard-coded endashes to html endashes aren't necessary. Regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 02:29, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Actually, looking closer, the faulty endashes pre-date Epbr's run through, and he only did AWB changes. Since there are quite a few errors, you might just want to ask Epbr123 to run through and fix them all. There are dashes all over the place that should be hyphens. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 02:33, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
I suggest you do whatever SandyGeorgia suggests as she is the queen bee and whatever she says goes. I will help you out in any way I can but she rules so do what she says. Sincerely, –Mattisse (Talk) 02:52, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
I should say, regarding FAC, as her rule ends outside of that. –Mattisse (Talk) 02:54, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry

Sorry about being mistaken about en-dashes on the win/loss scores. The last time I copy edited a sports article was about a year ago, and apparently the standards have changed since then. Looks like you took care of the problem just fine though.

When copy editing the article, I really got interested in his story. Just out of curiosity, why did he become a professional hockey player, since it is such a rough sport? Did his parents encourage him or were there hockey heroes in his childhood? He must have a very high energy level in addition to being an excellent athlete. –Mattisse (Talk) 12:15, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Suggestions

User:Giants2008 left you some really good suggestions on the Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Eric Brewer (ice hockey). I fixed a few of the really obvious things (like the second wikilinking of Kamloops), but unfortunately I don't know much about sports so I did not do much.

I think the numbering issue is complicated. Personally, I think you did a good job. The point given that some editors use all numbers (with the usual rule about numbers under ten) and some spell all numbers out in my opinion is not an easy choice here. If you spelled out all numbers ten and over, that would be unwieldy. If you used numbers for absolutely all numbers ten and over, the text would be a sea of number since there are so many along with the many dates. –Mattisse (Talk) 18:32, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I have been working away at the article and hopefully improved it. I hope you have not gotten discouraged by the comments left on the FAC page and given up. If you give a reply the FAC reviewers will know you are trying and will continue to give you suggestions. I am a good copy editor, even if I made the endashes mistake (I have never taken care of that in an article before so I did not understand) and even if I don't know anything about ice hockey. –Mattisse (Talk) 20:58, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
I struck most of the issues. The number thing, although I didn't strike it, is really a personal preference. His injury in 1998 still interests me, however. Mattisse is right that you should reply at the FAC, since people may close it eventually if they feel that you are not responding. Keep working on the article, and don't get down on yourself. A featured article candidacy is never easy. Giants2008 (talk) 21:21, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Also, I will take another look later and leave more comments. I'll fix some minor things myself, provided I find them. Giants2008 (talk) 21:23, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Since this is getting more copy-editing, I see no reason to review it now. Let me know when the work is done so I can review it again. Giants2008 (talk) 22:29, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations on having earned your first WP:FL during the last month. You may be interested in nominating your list for consideration as August LOTM and LOTD. It would also be great if you would consider voting on the current set of candidates for consideration as July LOTM and LOTD.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 05:57, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Glad

Glad to see you back editing the Eric Brewer (ice hockey) article and making some really good edits. I'm sorry for any trouble I caused you. –Mattisse (Talk) 01:56, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Are you interested in this feature, to make vandalism reversion quicker? I've looked over your recent contributions, and I think it will be a useful feature for you. Thanks! --Maxim(talk) 12:56, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Done. Make sure to use it with common sense... ie almost always for pure vandalism (exceptions being limited to things like your own edits). Enjoy! Maxim(talk) 01:41, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

is now an FA! Congratulations!! Maxim(talk) 20:10, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Well not exactly. If you look here, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ice_Hockey/Player_pages_format) the structure of player pages say the Int'l stuff goes after the Career statistics. If it's GA or featured that's an exception, but for now if you look on the majority on player pages (i.e Alexei Kovalev) you'll see the International stuff is after the stats. --Hasek is the best (talk) 00:30, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

M'kay sure. I was just taking into account that the majority of player pages already have the Int'l statistics in the Int'l play section, so was following suit. --Hasek is the best (talk) 18:18, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Horse murders article request for editors

Hello, all --

I realize that this is a distasteful subject to many in the horse field, especially among those with a love of show jumpers, but the John Edwards and Rielle Hunter affair currently in the news has opened up many, many questions on the subject of the late 20th century horse murders scandal. The reason for that, in case you don't know, is that Rielle Hunter was formerly Lisa Druck, whose father, James Druck, conspired to have her beloved show jumper Henry the Hawk electrocuted to collect the insurance money on him. This tragedy formed the background for a 1988 novel based on Lisa Druck's life, called Story of my Life by Jay McInerney. Later, in the early to mid 1990s, the actual horse killing scandal was exposed to the public through articles in the New York Times and Sports Illustrated, and then through a full-length book called "Hot Blood." An FBI investigation into the horse murders led to the conviction of a number of highly placed people in the show jumper and general equestrian sports world on charges of insurance fraud.

When Rielle Hunter's background was probed, due to her affair with John Edwards, it turned out that she and her horse were prominent victims of the horse murder insurance scam, and her own father was one of the orchestrators of the criminal activities. But in trying to link this information up to her bio article, it turned up that there wss no article on the subject of the horse murders at Wikipedia, doubtless because the scandal occured before the development of the world wide web. An article was just created today, but it is not comprehensive in scope and needs to be expanded greatly lest it be deleted. There is an article on the murder of the millionairess Helen Brach whose death, in 1977, was also connected to the horse murders scandal, and it too could use improvement.

I am looking for a few good editors who have the brackground to write the horse murders article, and to link it to the Helen Brach murder, show jumping, and Rielle Hunter articles. No need to reply to me -- if you are interested, you know what to do. I will try to help, also, as best i can, but the topic is far from my usual field of writing, and i would prefer to see it handled by those with the greatest depth of knowledge on the subject.

If you need sources to cite, you can find the best of them at the Rielle Hunter page in the section on her early life and family. Here are two more:

I am posting this identical request to a number of horse-rleated talk pages, so you may see it more than once, for which i apologize in advance.

Sincerely, catherine yronwode Catherineyronwode (talk) 02:52, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Birthplace

For American and Canadian people, the format is to include the province or state, not the country.

Says who ? You ? A lot of them do have the country. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.192.40.3 (talk) 07:13, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Again, who says you have to include the state or province ? It seems to be merely your opinion. 83.192.45.109 (talk) 16:12, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
You've been given a reason for this over and over. Continuing to simply revert editors is only going to get you blocked. -Djsasso (talk) 04:07, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
This is not true and you know it. You have been unable to cite any guideline to support your claims. Other editors told you that as well. 83.192.61.73 (talk) 08:25, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Actually it was pointed out that it is best to just remove the location all together, as Numsock is doing. -Djsasso (talk) 16:08, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
