[edit] WHIZ

Re: your message on my talk page: The content you removed from WHIZ appears to me to be proper for that page. When spelt with all capitals it is an acronym, abreviation, or initialism, just like the applied 4LA template says, and that is an entirely different sort of beast than the English word "whiz", the dictionary definition of which you contributed for both WHIZ and Whiz. Simple definitions are meant for a dictionary and are unsuitable for an encyclopedia. I've so tagged the Whiz page – please visit Wiktionary and see if you might like to contribute there, too. As for this encyclopedia, there are multiple unrelated articles identifiable by the four captial letters WˑHˑIˑZ, so the layout of WHIZ as a disambiguation page is appropriate. If there are other articles that need to speak to the topics identified by WHIZ, then they can be created, if need be, and also linked to from that page.

That's my $0.02 worth, anyway. I've been around Wikipedia long enough, though, to be pretty sure that what I wrote above would pretty accurately reflect the community consensus on the subject. --Kbh3rdtalk 01:25, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
