Good Bull story

Thought you would get a kick out of this joke and story. BQZip01 talk 21:26, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Congratulations!

Congratulations on your graduation, and welcome to the world of former students! PS Bring something to do during the graduation ceremony - they take forever. :) Karanacs 13:35, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Good Article Medal

The Good Article Medal of Merit
I hereby bestow the GA medal to Oldag07 for his efforts in getting Texas A&M University upgraded to good article status. BQZip01 talk 00:50, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Band Pict

Nice image. What specifically do you want to put under it? I altered the description to include a little more info, but GREAT pict (you can tell it's Parent's Weekend by the carnations: white is for those who have lost their mother, red for those who have not; usually the mother of the unit commander will pin on the white carnations). BQZip01 talk 03:12, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Gallery

Please create a gallery of images on the Texas A&M talk page. This will give us a place to look at images and place them in the A&M articles. BQZip01 talk 04:30, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

I stand corrected. NICE JOB!!! My brother is going back to get his masters degree. I think I'll visit him and take a few picts myself (my wife got a new camera for Mother's day...I think I'll hijack it for a weekend!) BQZip01 talk 05:21, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Finish Texas A&M University article

This is a request to assist in finishing the Texas A&M University article for FA status. We need just a couple of people to read the article and the discussion and then sign off the remaining items to be checked. Once this is done, we will submit for Featured Article status. Even just checking off one item would help, so please do what you can BQZip01 talk 06:23, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

  1. Glad you're back! We're mere inches away from being done and we started miles away.
  2. Please post messages like that on my talk page, not on my user page. BQZip01 talk 23:30, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

TAMU FA Nom

Thanks for being so fast at addressing some of the FA Comments. Don't forget to look at the talk page first, though -- some of the issues we really ought to get a consensus among our little group first. I've started a list there of things we need to talk about. Most of these are issus that were brought up while we were working the last few weeks and we weren't unanimous then. Karanacs 15:28, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Welcome back. I wondered where you went. I was gone for the weekend and looks like lots got done. I like most of your changes -- I reverted a few small wording changes, though. I think the picture of the Medal of Honor winner is probably good enough -- no need to rush off and take a new picture if you don't want. Karanacs 15:41, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
The A&M Qatar and Galveston campuses are already mentioned in the worldwide section. I think that the A&M Galveston capmus could use a bit of a boost to show its worldwide impact (We do have a fleet of nearly 600 ships, I think). BQZip01 talk 16:12, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

TAMU Revisions

Texas A&M University

Rephrased

  • In 2006, University President Robert Gates resigned from his position to become the U.S. Secretary of Defense.[25] (I like doctor gates, but the way it is written, this seems to trivial. either add stuff that he has done, or delete this)
    • Leave until after FA review, then go tackle this one. Maybe later move to Notable people? BQZip01 talk 04:34, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • "to learn to be like Ross". - (never liked the phrase)
    • It's a direct quote, reflects the attitude of the time, and shows the motivation of the parents to send their children there. BQZip01 talk 04:34, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • The school's Board of Directors continued to oversee the system. (confusing) the whole board of directors thingy is confusing
  • Ring paragraph rephrased as follows: Worn by students, former students, and graduates of the university, the Aggie Ring promotes school spirit and camaraderie. All class rings are the same design except that of the class year. Students cannot order a ring until completing 95 hours of coursework, including at least 45 hours at A&M, or until graduation.[99] Though unsanctioned by the University, many students "dunk" their newly-acquired Aggie Rings into a pitcher of beer [or other non alcholic substances] and quickly chug the entire pitcher to "earn" the ring.
    • I like it. You may want to add that the Dixie Chicken used to be the place to do it, but it was pulled by TABC (is there anything they do that turns out good?). Also, please wait until after the FA review. BQZip01 talk 04:34, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Howdy paragraph (combine with first paragraph or a misc paragraph. eventually the organization Howdy Ags" would be good on the traditions page)???
    • We could delete "Howdy" on this page if we wanted, but let's wait until after the FA review. BQZip01 talk 04:34, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • why did the aggies muster together on june 26, 1886?
    • It was a field day complete with athletic events for each of the outfits to compete in. BQZip01 talk
  • (yell leaders with midnight yell? an "aggie yells section" both sections are short) Oldag07 22:03, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Shortened

  • Under the terms of the Morrill Act, the land grants should be sold at public auction to establish a permanent fund supporting a college where the "leading object shall be, without excluding other scientific and classical studies and including military tactics, to teach such branches of learning as are related to agriculture and mechanical arts... to promote the liberal and practical education of the industrial classes in the several pursuits and professions in life." (condence to a few words)
    • Personally, I like the fluidity of it. Cutting it wouldn't benefit more than 100 bytes and loses some of its context. BQZip01 talk 04:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • A state committee chose to establish Texas A&M in Brazos County, which agreed to donate 2,416 acres (10 km²) of land near Bryan, Texas, for the new school.[8] (condense a few words)
  • Though Texas A&M was originally envisioned as a component of the University of Texas System, the University of Texas was established with a separate Board of Regents, leaving Texas A.M.C. to continue to be governed by its Board of Directors. (confusing)
    • It's very simple in this form. The legal battle over this stretched months. BQZip01 talk 04:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Texas A&M graduates put their training to the test during World War I. By 1918, 49% of all graduates of the college were in military service, more than any other college or university.[8] In early September 1918, the entire senior class entered military service, with plans to send the younger students at staggered dates throughout the next year. Many of the seniors were fighting in France when the war ended two months later.[15] (could be more like the world war 2 paragraph)
    • We weren't in WWI like we were in WWII, so no, but the Keepers of the Spirit by Adams will get you the info you want. BQZip01 talk 04:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Texas A&M became one of the first four universities given the designation sea-grant ? (do we need to put that we are one of the first four. maybe one of the first)
    • No, I think this puts it in perspective. The first four were done at the same time, so all 4 were in fact the first (note how it is phrased). BQZip01 talk 04:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • the Bush Library and the nearby George Bush School of Government and Public Service, (Replace with "The school", bush doesn't just work with those entities) Oldag07 22:03, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
  • a Texas public endowment fund contributing to the support of 18 institutions and six agencies in the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System. -(is this much detail needed?)
  • As of 2006, the PUF ending net asset value stood at $10.3 billion, with $400.7 million, in FY 2007 transferred to the Available University Fund for distribution to both university systems.[38] Currently proceeds from accumulated interest from the PUF are divided among the university system with the University of Texas System receiving two-thirds of the fund, and the remaining third benefits the Texas A&M System, due to a 1931 Texas Legislature decision.[39] Texas A&M also benefits from a private endowment, the Texas A&M Foundation, which totals more than $1.17 billion in assets. Combined, the total endowment for the TAMUS stands as of 2006 at 5.6 billion.[2]- (Condense?)
    • Aw, it's all right. It can be hard to condense figures.
  • . . . . modern genetics, technology, or other scientific projects. (genetics technology and other scientific projects? genetics does not fit with the other two, should be more broad, Technology and scientific projects?) Oldag07 22:08, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
    • Where do you think the missiplicity project came from. Genetics is a HUGE part of the equation right now. BQZip01 talk 04:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
      • I graduated (can't believe i said that) with a biology major. yes i know. . . .Oldag07 13:25, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Two primary institutional bodies carry out this research; most notably, Research Valley, an alliance of both educational and business organizations with the goal to foster collaborative research endeavors with commercial prospects. When combined, Research Valley consists of 11,400 acres (50 km²) with 2,500,000 square feet (232,000 m²) of dedicated research space. A second institution involves A&M's dedicated Research Park, established in 1982, consisting of 350 acres (1 km²), 10 buildings, dozens of corporations, and 500,000 square feet (46,000 m²) of space.[40] (condense)?
    • I think it's fine. If you can condense, but not lose meaning, go ahead, but wait until after the FA review. BQZip01 talk 04:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Research funding for Texas A&M during the 2004 year totaled more than $520.9 million, ranking Texas A&M among the top 20 American research institutes, with funding increasing more than $100 million from 1994 to 2004. Texas A&M ranks 13th among all U.S. research universities in exchange agreements with institutions abroad.[41] (condense?)
    • I think it's fine. If you can condense, but not lose meaning, go ahead, but wait until after the FA review. BQZip01 talk 04:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Also in 2004, Texas A&M joined a consortium of universities to build the Giant Magellan Telescope in Chile. Consisting of seven mirrors each with a diameter of 8.4 meters (9.2 yd), the optical telescope will have the equivalent of a 24.5 meters (26.8 yd) primary mirror. With construction slated to be complete in 2016, it will be the largest optical telescope ever constructed and ten times more powerful than the Hubble Space Telescope.[45] (condense?)

  • In conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration, Texas A&M became the first U.S. nuclear research reactor to convert reactor fuel from a highly enriched form to a low-enriched safer form to reduce civilian use of weapon grade uranium. Completed on October 13, 2006, the process of depleting the uranium from 70% enrichment to 20% enrichment finalized an 18-month, joint project. This accomplishment fulfilled a portion of U.S. President George W. Bush’s Global Nuclear Threat Reduction Initiative to produce safe low-enriched uranium for commercial use.[46] (condense?)

  • In Dallas on January 2, 1922, at the Dixie Classic (the forerunner of the Cotton Bowl) A&M played defending national champion Centre College in the first post-season game in the southwest. The first half of the game produced so many injuries for A&M that Coach D. X. Bible feared he wouldn’t have enough men to finish the game. He called into the Aggie section of the stands for E. King Gill, a reserve who had left football after the regular season to play basketball. Gill willingly volunteered and donned the uniform of injured player Heine Weir. Although he did not actually play in the game, his readiness to play symbolized the willingness of all Aggies to support their team to the point of actually entering the game. A&M won 22-14, but E. King Gill was the only man left standing on the sidelines for the Aggies. The 12th Man has evolved into an Aggie tradition. The Aggie student body is known as the "12th Man" for the football team and stands throughout the entire game, ready to help the team should the need arise.[106] (condense)???
    • I think it's fine for now. If you can condense, but not lose meaning, go ahead, but wait until after the FA review. BQZip01 talk 04:49, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

  • The historian Henry C. Dethloff wrote A Centennial History of Texas A & M University: 1876-1976, published on the occasion of the university's 100th anniversary. (delete)

  • Usually students of different genders live on alternate floors, although in Corps dormitories and several Northside dormitories genders are segregated by room.[64] Dorm styles vary; while many dorms offer only indoor access to individual rooms, access to the rooms of "balcony halls," comes from a balcony that runs on the outside of the building. Room sizes vary by building, and dorms with larger rooms including en-suite bathrooms, while dorms with smaller rooms have a common bathroom on each floor. Several dorms include a "substance-free" floor, where residents pledge to avoid bringing alcohol, drugs, or cigarettes into the dorm.[65] Students, except for those in the Corps, are not required to purchase a meal plan. Those who choose to eat on campus may frequent any dining facility, and for convenience each residence section has its own dining hall.[66] (remove whole paragraph? start a new residential life page?)
    • I think it gives a good overview, but certainly could amass quite a bit of info and become a separate article. BQZip01 talk 04:25, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Students receive encouragment to become involved in campus activities and organizations from the moment they attend A&M's orientation programs.(generic??)
    • Maybe it is, but it is something that is emphasized at A&M almost to the point of being part of the indoctrination. Let's not forget we are a cult...one I'm proud to be part of... Lead vs Body of Article

Hi OldAg. I just wanted to let you know that we aren't supposed to put anything in the lead section of an article that isn't explicitly mentioned in the body of the article. This means that we MUST leave in the bit about the letters A&M not standing for anything in the history section. I had reverted those changes yesterday after you made them and I guess you didn't see the edit summary (there were a lot of edits lately). I'll put it back again. I really don't think the article needs any more pruning, either. The size issues don't have anything to do with the prose (it clocks in at under 50Kb, which is a great length). You've done a great job over the last two days, and I think we're all ready to rest. Karanacs 22:38, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Statue pictures

Wow, thanks for pointing that out, I wasn't aware the statue pics are actually derivative works. In that case, you'll have to upload the statue pictures to Wikipedia (click the link on the toolbox to the left) and add the {{Template:Non-free 3D art}} template. I'll do the same for the ones I uploaded. Excellent job in improving the A&M article, by the way. BlueAg09 (Talk) 04:20, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Also, it would probably be wise to add the sculptor name to the image description as well. This website contains the names of the sculptors of every statue on campus. BlueAg09 (Talk) 04:33, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Good catch...also good for not posting it on the talk page right now. BQZip01 talk 04:52, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Ohio

That's great that you are going to be working with Americorps. One of my friends did that after graduation and really enjoyed it. I lived in Akron for a few months. I've actually never been to Columbus. I can recommend, though, that you make time during the summer to go to Cedar Park amusement park. It's in northern Ohio, but it's one of the best amusement parks I've ever been to. Also, there is no sales tax on clothes in Pennsylvania :) (Can you tell where my priorities were that summer?) Good luck and have fun! Karanacs 15:14, 24 May 2007 (UTC) PS Ohioans think it's hot when it gets over 75 degrees. Even in the summer, it can get chilly. Karanacs 15:14, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Hey no worries

Can you tell me the phrases you edited so I can cross them off? BQZip01 talk 03:17, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I was there for the trophy dedication at the end of my zip year, but I don't think it is that noteworthy (LOTS of other bands already have it) and is already on the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band page. BQZip01 talk 20:23, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Barnstars

While I can assure you I will be handing out more than a few Barnstars in the near future, I'd like to receive a few myself (I don't need the praise, but getting a warm fuzzy from a job well done that was noticed always feels nice!!!). I never got a GA medal either :-( LOL

To give someone a barnstar or related award, place one of the captions in a person's talk page from Wikipedia:Barnstars or Wikipedia:Other awards and add a caption. It's that easy.

In retrospect, I guess the GA medals I handed out don't STRICTLY meet the guidelines, but "significant contributions" is kinda vague too. Oh well. BQZip01 talk 03:52, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Newest FA candidate...well...not yet...

All, I have significantly updated/upgraded the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band page. It still needs work, but is a vast improvement from the previous version. I'd really like to do this page myself so ya'll can comment in its FA review in a week or two. If you have any feedback, please drop me a line on my talk page. OH! and how about that baseball team?!?! Gig 'em! BQZip01 talk 06:26, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Bruin Requests Help from an Aggie

Greetings Oldag07 I found your user page by accident, but liked your Aggie user block and went looking for one for the UCLA Bruins. Couldn't find one, so I attempted to recreate yours. The result was not too shabby I think Template:User_bruin. Wanted to ask if you have any problems with me leveraging your handiwork? More than happy to remove mine if you prefer. Perhaps more importantly is there a more official source for this kind of thing in Wikipedia (ie alma mater content). I have some HTML skills, but am completely new to Wikipedia and how to get around. Thanks for any/all help! smitter1 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for help

Sounds good. Thanks for help on the colors. I'll take the suggestion for alumn(us). Appreciate it! Smitter1 00:05, 9 June 2007 (UTC)smitter1

Assistance Request

I have decided to try and upgrade the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band article to Featured Article status (from a normal article...quite a leap) all by myself. I think its pretty damn good right now, but I would appreciate a once-over before I submit it in 24 hours (6 AM CDT). Once submitted, I expect unconditional some support from you guys. Thanks in advance. :-) BQZip01 talk 10:50, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

I addressed your concerns except those noted. Please look through and tell me if these explanations are adequate. BQZip01 talk 20:53, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Maintenence needed on a wikiproject: Ranking articles, making sure guidelines are followed, watching for other articles that SHOULD be included, etc. Personally, I have NO idea how to start one. BQZip01 talk 21:27, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

WHOOP! By the way, I found a really nice picture of the Academic Building on Flickr. Unfortunately, the photo is copyrighted. The photographer is an Aggie herself who takes some other really nice pictures. I am trying to write her a letter on the photo's comment page to ask if she can change the license to CC-Attribution. I figured we could use this pic for our main page entry. What do you think? BlueAg09 (Talk) 06:58, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Only problem with the pic is the trees blocking the building. They need to trim them! BlueAg09 (Talk) 07:01, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
I'll get to work on that. I'm going to change the name to Wikiproject Texas A&M University instead of "Texas A&M" since all the other schools include "university" in the Wikiproject title. BlueAg09 (Talk) 07:12, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Oops... that move obviously doesn't work. BlueAg09 (Talk) 07:14, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Howdy

Hi OldAg! I had a great time in Hawaii and now I'm rested and ready to get going again. You've been really busy while I was gone. Thanks for setting up the A&M project. I took a quick look at it and did an FA review for the band page, but I haven't gotten into full wiki-speed yet. What's next on our list of things to do? I'm wondering if we should try to bring the History of Texas A&M University page up to FA as well or start concentrating on a different article. I hope your summer is going well -- it can be hard to adjust to life after college. Karanacs 18:57, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!!!

Well folks, thanks to your reviews and comments, the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band is now a featured article on Wikipedia. It should take a day or so to update, but it's a done deal. Thanks for the help, Oldag07. FYI, I just got readmitted back into pilot training (was on medical hold for the last 7 months), so I will be less available time-wise to assist, but I will still be available somewhat on the weekends and of course for anyone who requests help, though it may not be as quickly as before. I'd really like to see us take the lead in the education section with FA articles (we now have two!!!) and show the worldwise wikipedians what a fine school A&M is. Personally, my next goal is to get the Corps of Cadets page up to FA status (it's such a major part of the University that I'd like to see it promoted up the chain a little). As always, I'll help with the A&M pages. Can I help with the assessments? I'll keep an eye out for articles that seem to fall under the A&M purview (such as Lawrence Sullivan Ross, James Earl Rudder, etc.) In addition, let me know when there is a push for FA status for an article and I'll be happy to "push" it along and help filter the BS out in the reviews. BQZip01 talk 19:27, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Keep in touch. Don't let wikipedia control your life. Just a suggestion, remove almost everything from your watchlist except five things. It'll keep you focused on little stuff and not lots of little things that take up too much time...like I'm doing... BQZip01 talk 21:59, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, there's always another time we can meet up. I actually considered we should have one of these with the other Aggie Wikipedians, but more than half of us are former students who live outside of Aggieland. Anyhow, I'm actually taking the MCAT on Aug 20th, otherwise I would have tried coming earlier. BlueAg09 (Talk) 02:50, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
BMEN. I'm majoring in this in case I change my mind or don't get in (my "insurance") As you can probably tell I spent too much time on Wiki this past semester that my GPR dropped a bit :(
So how's that job? BlueAg09 (Talk) 03:01, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Same to you :) BlueAg09 (Talk) 15:52, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

HiHowdy

I was inspired by you adding the template to the Acie Law page, so I started going through the categories of Aggie alumni. I'm still not done, but getting there. I'm impressed that we have so many articles about Aggies, but I saw some gaps too. Hope your summer is going well! Karanacs 14:06, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm a bad Ag too that I titled this "hi." Problem fixed! I had already assumed I was the only female from the way people talked, but that's okay - I've always been better friends with guys than girls. It's hard for me to believe, though, that I seem to tbe the oldest in this bunch of Aggies!! I only graduated in 2000, and that wasn't that long ago...really, it wasn't! And, since you seem to be collecting our identies, my name's Karen. Karanacs 17:30, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

SLOW DOWN!!!

Too many changes too quickly! Please see the A&M talk page. BQZip01 talk 05:28, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Glad to be a part

Got your message on my discussion page. I'm happy to be part of the project and lend a hand when I can. ——Wordbuilder 04:19, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry I reverted your edits on Talk:Texas A&M University. Anon edits make me nervous. I wasn't sure if it was legit or if some schlub was trying to be devious. Glad it was the former. ——Wordbuilder 22:34, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! I hope you have a wonderful Independence Day. —Wordbuilder 19:03, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey dude

Thanks for the gratitude. With all the negativity in the media, it's easy for us military folks to not get any of the good news and/or appreciation from the folks at home. As for the Transformers movie, it's interesting that you brought up "supposedly the us military allowed the filmers to use a lot of their stuff." I was actually one of the people who helped get the paperwork though so they could film the Air Force Special Operations stuff. They wanted to shoot the AC-130 gunship actually firing and I got the memo signed by 5 different people (including 2 generals) in less than 6 hours so they could shoot it while practicing a cross-country mission. The memo was so good, they used it for all of the other aircraft they wanted to shoot, including the CV-22, which is mentioned in its page (look at the bottom). BQZip01 talk 15:04, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

BTW, if you, or anyone you know want to help the guys overseas, just write them a letter saying how much you support them. Leave all politics out and it will be MUCH appreciated. When I deployed, I got a letter from a 7 year-old written on construction paper with crayon (one color: blue). That one was proudly pinned on the "wall" of my tent. BQZip01 talk 15:07, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I played trombone in the Aggie Band. At the time there were almost a hundred "boners" out there. good times... BQZip01 talk 17:35, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Psst..

Are you good at photoshop? I think it's time we create our thumbs up sign that replicates this and this. I currently dont have access to photoshop. Make it look something like this. If you aren't able to do it, I'll give it a try when I get back to Aggieland. BlueAg09 (Talk) 18:33, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Nice! Is the thumb in the right position though? It looks a bit awkward like that. BlueAg09 (Talk) 23:58, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
    • Oh and maybe you can add a ring on it? Make sure you don't use a picture of the actual ring though. BlueAg09 (Talk) 00:01, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
      • Great! I guess we can replace the current pic on the Gig 'em article with this one. However, the new one looks a bit small, perhaps you can enlarge it 2-3 KBs more? Whatever you prefer is cool.

SL resource

Not sure if you are aware of this site, but it contains various studies conducted by the Student Life Dept. I'd rely on the recent ones and the older ones with a grain of salt. BlueAg09 (Talk) 08:45, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm not in a frat, though I'll help out when I can. (after the MCAT that is, lol) BlueAg09 (Talk) 09:10, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Do you think we need more sources for the page? I don't have much knowledge of the whole student life scene, so I'm not sure. BlueAg09 (Talk) 01:27, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
I can find sources. some of them are in my sandbox. i have been too lazy to move them to the main page. yes, i can find sources for most of the facts i have posted up there. Oldag07 03:47, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Care to chime in?

A peer review has been requested for the article Texas Tech University. I'd appreciate if you'd take a moment to provide some feedback. Thanks! →Wordbuilder 23:45, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

University of Texas Template

Hello, thanks for your message. I am sorry that it has taken me so long to reply. I've had a lot of things going on and I've not been that active this month.

Yes, I did copy the A&M template to make the one for UT. You and other A&M editors have done a great job of building up some really good content recently, and I firmly believe that great work deserves to be re-used! Johntex\talk 16:35, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Bad news...but some good news

I saw you up and editing and wanted to keep you updated. I washed out of pilot training and I'll be able to help out here & there a little more since my time has been freed up. That said, my next goal is to get the Corps page up to FA status. Give me 30 days to get it up to snuff and I'll put it up for FA. BQZip01 talk 03:14, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

I've decided to focus my efforts on the Aggie Bonfire page. With the upcoming 10th anniversary, the least we can do is try to get it upgraded and put on the main page. I've made some significant edits. If you could offer any critiques, I'd be happy to incorporate them (if you add them to the talk page and don't incorporate them yourself, you can later provide support for FA status...I'm not saying to blindly support it, just to appropriately distance yourself from it so you CAN support it). Anyway, any feedback you can give would be helpful. BQZip01 talk 05:56, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

The Association of Former Students

I added the link to this page under "traditions" on the Template:Texas A&M University. Where else could we put it? BlueAg09 (Talk) 20:02, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

that and notable aggies. we could almost have a new section. . . . . Oldag07 01:04, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
I did see their new template. Looks 10x nicer, perhaps we can ask User:Nmajdan to do the same for us, as he made that edit to the template. What should the new section on our template be called?
I'm not sure how much of that is needed either. I hate to piss off that guy who added all that. Apparently he wrote all that for the newsletter or whatever. BlueAg09 (Talk) 04:10, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

howdy

lol. Yall did more than me. I started out on this thing in 2006, and barely did anything. Surely without the top 9 contributors here, particularly the first four, A&M pages wouldn't have gotten anywhere. BlueAg09 (Talk) 05:42, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

And you weren't drunk right? BlueAg09 (Talk) 08:49, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Ok, lol...I wasnt quite sure. BlueAg09 (Talk) 18:55, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words :) I think we all make a great team. Without any of the four main contributers (you, me, BlueAg, and BQ), the A&M pages would still be unorganized. It's amazing what a handful of dedicated Ags can do! Karanacs 13:52, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Gig 'em back at ya!

Thanks. Every little bit helps and it IS noticed. BQZip01 talk 21:26, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Keep in touch :) BlueAg09 (Talk) 05:08, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Talk page header

Hey Oldag07, Thanks for your message. I am glad you like the Talk page header. I did not make the original version. I stole it from someone (can't remember from whom) and modified it to better suit my purposes. Please feel free to steal it from me and adapt it however you would like.

The graphic files used in the header come from commons. You can find a lot of similar icons here. Happy header-editing! Johntex\talk 15:28, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
