[edit] Natural disaster vs Natural hazard
I guess they should probably be merged, but I'm not sure which title we should use, as they are subtly different concepts. Perhaps the apropriate course of action would be to seek wider input at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disaster management? Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 16:19, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm... Yes, then, definitly requires broader input. A monsterous new year to you as well! ;-) Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 16:45, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Merdenisianos
Well, I read the article and this is what I have to say about it:
- It's indeed written like a resume. Actually, it appears to be a full length CV
- I could see some basic notability (a bunch of television appearances, discussions of his work on Greek and Italian television, etc) but, totally unreferenced
- The article title is after the person's last name and does not follow the normal naming conventions for biographies of people
I'll be posting a PROD on the article --Kimontalk 14:55, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Erection split
Hi, I'm unsure how to send messages to individuals on here, so you'll have to please forgive me if I'm going to wrong way about it.
I understand your reasons for deciding to not split Erection up completely. However, the reason I thought it worth splitting it up was that the clitoral and nipple erections seemed lost at the bottom of the page and dwarfed by the overriding initial interpretation of the word erection being penile. In addition to this, they are all quite distinct variations of erection. Casdious (Talk) (Contribs) 21:55, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Prod on Chris Llewellyn
The version of the article Chris Llewellyn you prodded, was heavily vandalized. I would think it's smart to check if something like that is the problem when you think of prodding something. I have reverted, and then also deprodded.Greswik (talk) 22:29, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Just learned that a rogue satellite will hit Earth on Feb. 29-30. Satellite lost power, propulsion. No one knows where it will hit. Can you look into this ? IF it hits ME and mine, NASA had better have a hell of a check ready for me. Milhist Coordinator elections |

| Thank you very much for your support in the recent Military history Wikiproject elections. I went into it expecting to just keep my seat and was astonished to end up with the lead role. I anticipate a rather busy six months :) --ROGER DAVIES talk 13:41, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for your support
Ouro: I wish to thank you for your support in my unsuccessful bid at becoming an Assistant Coordinator for the Military history WikiProject. Rest assured that I will still be around, probably even more than before, and I have the utmost confidence in the abilities of the current and new coordinators. I might also mention that I am already planning on running again in August. As always, if you need anything, just get in touch. -MBK004 21:33, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- As for the header on my talk page, which one, the nav bar? Or the one telling you what to do? I'm kidding, sure you can use it, just link back to my talk page. I took the formatting from User talk:TomStar81 but have made my own improvements. -MBK004 03:41, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Stress
I am feeling better, mobility in both my hand and leg are back above 95%. Unfoturently, though, I am still working overtime to get back on top of school work. I am struggling to cope with my legendary procrastination, which isn't helping me any; I may end up taking a leave of wiki-absence for a few days to catch up entirely. I can't afford to fail any classes this semester, my gpa skidded from 2.8 to 2.2 last semester; if it gets below 2.0 I'll end up back on acedemic probation and be forced to sit teh next semester out :-/ TomStar81 (Talk) 08:39, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] New! BCAD drive from Milhist
Can I invite you to particpate in our new assessment drive? It's strictly for experienced wiki-gnomes and has a degree of friendly competition built-in. It involves re-evaluating around 3500 Milhist B-Class articles to ensure they match our new criteria. As ever, we're offering a range of awards as our way of expressing our thanks. The drive doesn't start until 18:00 (UTC) on March 10 but you can sign up in advance here. It would be great if you can spare the time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] News! Tag & Assess 2008 is coming ...
Milhist's new drive – Tag & Assess 2008 – goes live on April 25 and you are cordially invited to participate. This time, the task is housekeeping. As ever, there are awards galore, plus there's a bit of friendly competition built-in, with a race for bronze, silver and gold wikis! You can sign up, in advance, here. I look forward to seeing you on the drive page! All the best, --ROGER DAVIES talk 13:04, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Many thanks for the invitation, and nice to hear from you again. However at this time I am going to be doing a bit of travelling around (first going to meet my girlfriend's family across Poland, but generally in the vicinity of Bielsko-Biała, and next weekend we're hitch hiking from Gdańsk to Munich), so it's going to be busy. However, I have just noticed that the drive is going to be long - so I'll be hoping to find time later to participate. I've generally been very busy in March and April, new place, new people, and the Misses :) you probably know how it is. But thanks for the heads up. Hope everything's fine with you. Cheers, Ouro (blah blah) 13:57, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Kraków
Thanks for replying to my question about Kraków. You said there are storage lockers at Kraków railway station, which is good. I hope they are big enough, as my backpack is the kind that hitch-hikers use and not exactly one that a schoolchild would use on a school day. I'm prepared to spend even more than 100 zlotych (is that how you spell it?) if it means I can put my backpack in a safe place for ten hours.
Now my other question is, what is the best way of getting around in Kraków? When I was in Prague, I found the Prague Metro very easy to use, and only ever used it. But Kraków doesn't have a metro, it only has trams and buses. I have bought a tourist guide to Kraków, and it has an overall map of the tram and bus lines, but it does not have nearly all of the stops marked and named, and not even all individual streets. Is there some sort of well-detailed map of the Kraków tram and bus lines available?
I haven't even booked a hotel yet, but I have to do so quite soon. I'm hoping to find one quite near the centre. Booking.com offers some hotels not exactly in the centre, but a bit further away, for 400 zlotych for two nights. That's less than what I paid for a single hotel night in the centre of Berlin, so I can live with that price. Can I somehow see on the maps that Booking.com offers if the hotel is in within reach of the tram lines?
I wish I could have replied to you in Polish, but I do not understand any Polish. JIP | Talk 19:01, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
- Hello, Jip. I must say I am very happy that you are so interested in Poland and Kraków, actually my favourite city.
- Well, the storage lockers are big (there are many of them), although I must say I just usually left the luggage with the storage people (they are marked with a large luggage icon or the term 'Przechowalnia bagażu' in Polish. Young people in Kraków usually speak English well, so there will surely be someone there to help you. The storage should not cost you in excess of 10 Złotys (Złotys is the nominative plural I'd say). 100 will get you safely through the day including bus and tram fare for the whole day, a decent meal and even souvenirs.
- The best and easiest way to get around Kraków, if you are there just for one day, is on foot. Really, I'm not jesting. Almost everything is close by, the centre of the town is within 10 minutes walking distance, and Kazimierz is another 20 minutes away of a picturesque walk around the streets. If you want, the tram and bus line maps are here, unfortunately only in Polish. As far as I see, the website of the city company operating the trams and buses is in Polish only. Trams will definitely be enough for you to get around, they are fast, modern and run around all of the centre. A day pass costs 10,40 for an adult and will let you ride all trams and buses for 24 hours from the time you stamp it (stamp the ticket directly after entering the bus or tram for the first time, and then keep it on you until it expires).
- I have never used booking.com, but if you tell me what standard you are looking for, I will be happy to assist you in finding a place to sleep in Kraków. The city offers a wide variety of backpacker-friendly hostels and hotels in the centre which will let you sleep for under PLN 100 per night easily. PLN 400 for two nights is a lot.
- Hope I helped you a bit. Cheers, Ouro (blah blah) 19:41, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I just booked a hotel in the centre of Kraków, only a bit more than 1 km from the railway station. It will cost me 180 PLN for two nights. The room is otherwise OK but it doesn't have a private toilet. I think I can live with that, I've had previous experience with hotel rooms without private toilets. I should be all OK if I don't try to venture very far away from the centre. Now I should have everything else settled except what I'm actually going to see in Kraków. I will have to consult that tourist guide I bought. Thanks again for your help. JIP | Talk 20:20, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
