Question about AfD and good behaviour...

How long does the AfD stay open - when does it get closed? And is it better to withdraw a nomination if you still think it probably isn't notable but opinion seems to be going to other way or even if it is beginning to sway you (obviously not if you are 100% certain ..but when unsure..) What is good AfD etiquette? Figured I'd ask and you seem a reasonable sort..-- 🍺 Antiqueight confer 19:58, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

In theory, seven days. If there's a real snowfall, it can be sooner - more likely for Keep than Delete. Known as Speedy Keep. Conversely, if some horrid person like me comes along and sees a speedy tag as well as the AfD, there mightn't be an article to discuss on the first day... AfDs can be relisted, usually because there's no-one voting, or because it's too close to call (but a no consensus looks undesirable). No, if you really think something's not notable, stick to your guns (and check for SPAs and socks...), but if Colonel Warden or Uncle G turn up throwing refs around, back down gracefully. You won't beat them. If unsure, it's best to say so at the start. I do that, or word the nom very neutrally. If you do change your mind (and don't be afraid to), be honest. It gains more respect than flogging an obviously dying horse. This isn't WP policy. This is Peridon's opinion. I once voted delete, keep and possibly even neutral in one AfD (obviously not at the same time). That was because fresh evidence turned up, and almost all the deletes turned into keeps, and the keeps became rapid deletes. That was fun. I'll try and find the link if you like. unblock user name

Hi peridon,

I have registered with a user name zitima with an intention to add some genuine content, but before I could I had issues logging as my account was blocked for some reason.. I was not aware of this trying forgot password and what ever possible but finally today I could find that it was blocked. By you.. I did not even add any article to the site yet and was not involved in any such violation of the terms.. Can you please look in this and let me know there is anything I missed so that I can correct the same and get my account activated. You added an advertisement in your sandbox, which is a part of the site. Even user pages are visited by our patrollers who check them for things like copyright violation, attack pages and advertising. There were two problems with your sandbox entry (apart from the formatting...). One was that it only linked to a commercial site selling various services, and the other was that it was written as an essay not an article. Wikipedia does not have articles saying what the author of the article thinks, or about what people 'should' do. We already have articles about mobile phones and tablets. Your username appears to represent the Zitima company, and is not allowed under our policy on user names. Having done a Google search, I can't find any sign of notability for the company. You are welcome to read WP:WEB about notability for web content, and WP:RS about the reliable independent sources needed to prove the notability, and to let me know if you do find anything. He/she's edited in September, June and steadily if not regularly. This is their first edit on their talk page. No-one seems to talk to them much - only the welcomer. No block on the account or in the past. It seems to be something to do with the new servers dealing with Australasia/the Pacific area (or something like that). These notices are appearing at random. I have just spent 2 days working on my page METALROYSTONE & you have deleted it... why do you keep doing that .. I have done the page because the BBC have informed me that thay take all there photos from wikipedia & you are wasting my time, I cannot fathom what you find to be offensive, I am a musician how can I write about myself without it appearing to be promotional unless I say " I cant sing or play, none of the equipment works & show a picture of myself with a flat cap & a whippet !! 2 days I wasted on that page, please don't take this as offensive I am just trying to make a point ... For a start, we do not advise writing about yourself - see WP:AUTOBIO. Then again, what you posted was pure advertising, which is what I have warned you about on your talk page. If you can show that you pass WP:BAND (and prove it with reliable independent sources WP:RS), then there is reason for an article about you. But it must fit in with WP:SPAM. Advertising and promotion are not allowed on Wikipedia. On Facebook, MySpace and reverbnation, you are in control of what you post (subject to legal restrictions...). Here, as Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, we insist on notability. And that's our definition of notability, not the dictionary definition. and this is why we don't approve of writing about yourself. I would advise you to look closely at other articles, and see how they're written. (And look at WP:PEACOCK...) See if you can find independent reliable sources {that's independent AND reliable). Then talk to me. I'm afraid that all those files will have to go. If they have your watermark on them, that suggests that they have been used already - and that means that they are copyright. Wikipedia is licensed under CC-BY-SA 3,0 for reuse by anyone anywhere. Material already published that isn't licensed that way cannot be user here - even if you created it. If you do get an article, you won't need any more pics than there are on Piney Gir. That can all be sorted when you have proof that an article is possible. Let me know if you can find things, and good luck with the career. But do remember that we can't help you with that. We can help you if there's signs that you pass BAND. I know a heck of a lot of musicians who are brilliant, but don't pass. One could even accompany me while I was improvising - keeping in key even when I wasn't certain what key I was in, and finishing with me when I made a last two bars decision... I have checked your criterion & would fall into category ...7 Has become one of the most prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability. I quite often click 'save' on a talk page, and then click my contribs page and there it is as the latest entry. But the editing page still says 'Waiting for...'. I've been getting edit conflicts with myself too. Must see the doctor... Peridon (talk) 21:08, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Looking at it, I'd say the references (note spelling - e not a) are still not independent of this church, the parent faith, and associated entities. Read the guide mentioned in the decline boxes, or WP:RS for the policy itself. You should get rid of the address, telephone numbers and service times. That looks like an advertisement. But overall, I'm afraid I can't see that the church is notable outside its own congregation. There are thousands of churches in the world that are running successfully but not notably, and they don't get articles. The same goes for businesses and people in general. We don't list everything. I've not declined the article, as you might be able to improve it. I don't do Articles for Creation reviewing as such, but I work in general areas of deletion and I am advising you based on the principles I use there. Peridon (talk) 13:43, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Turn Me On (Turn Me Out)

Hello, Peridon. I see you deleted Turn Me On (Turn Me Out); could you please restore it to Turn Me Out because it passes WP:MUSICBIO criterion #2, has been covered by Russ Chimes, and apparently 2 Shoes have covered it as well? It's about the 2 Shoes song, and doesn't mention Chimes or Kathy Brown (and is completely unreferenced...). It doesn't say who the song is by, and Kathy Brown's page doesn't mention 2 Shoes covering one of her songs (but the 2 Shoes section does mention her). I note that the 2 Shoes title has the bracketed bit that the Chimes and Brown don't seem to. If restored it would be A9ed again as 2 Shoes have only a section in an X Factor article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_X_Factor_finalists_(UK_series_8)#2_Shoes. Neither. I'm going to leave it as it is for another admin to deal with - and I'm going to bed. If you get to RfA some day, you'll get asked 'what would do you do with article xxxxx?. You can't say leave it alone there. In real life (if this is real life...), you can. I tend to keep out of Indian films, Gaelic Football, and most American sports. It is different - and I'm not sure why you're asking when you've got the link to the source... Anyway, you are correct to Prod-BLP it. It could even be an AfD case, but winning Idols might be noteworthy. (Not for me, but you know how things go...) The group article is at AfD as a copyvio with a complicated nomination. WP:CHU and scroll down to simple for name change. As I said, it doesn't worry me. Now, there's no point in licensing your text - it would be deleted again, and you can't undo the licensing. It's permanent. You should rewrite avoiding the promotional style, and you MUST give reliable independent sources. Without those, it'll be deleted at Articles for Deletion. I have created a new user and retired Linuxtroll... I will rewrite the definitions for vibroacoustic therapy and vibroacoustic stimulation with referances this week and post again... I have added the categories under therapy too... This therapy form is used in scandinavian hospitals for more than 3 decades... so we have a lot of independent sources, research etc...
