GW cat changes[edit]

You've moved many pages into cl-ch-feedbacks-and-causes. Why is Global cooling in this cat? Or GW?

William M. Connolley 07:04, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are several cooling mechanisms proposed: aerosols (non absorbing) reflection, orbital changes, sun activity, increased cloud cover (reflection). All of them are feedbacks - one adds something (say reflecting aerosols) and Earth's surface is cooling. Some of these feedbacks are related to aerosols and clouds (so called Twomey effects) - i.e. aerosols influence cloud microphysics (droplet size) which causes more reflection (e.g. "ship tracks") This is why I moved greenhouse effect, aerosol effect, cloud effect, orbital, sunspots to "climate change feedbacks and causes". Same with GW. Global warming is based on feedbacks (CO2 introduced --> water vapor increases --> temperature changes; direct CO2 effect is relatively small). Either through increased CO2, or absorbing soot, etc. Now, the main reason was that I wanted to separate climate change policy, assessment (mostly IPCC), from climate change feedbacks; i.e. to separate politics from science. Also (important) I wanted to intruduce classification in climate change categories, because there were too many articles in one category. More work is needed there and help will be appreciated. I have noticed that "forcing", "attribution" and "causes" are similiar and we will need to address this bu adjusting category names slightly. But, I think that "climate change policy", "climate change assesment", "cimate change feedbacks", "climate change forcings" can form basis for the category "climate change". With "global warming" and "global cooling" we can move them back to "climate change" mostly because of their prominence; agree. Pflatau 14:33, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A quick hello[edit]

My apologies for my revert of your edit. It took me a moment to see what you had done - I thought I had reverted myself, but I see that you beat me to it :) Crimsone 16:45, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A study on how to cover scientific uncertainties/controversies[edit]

Hi. I would like to ask whether you would agree to participate in a short survey on how to cover scientific uncertainties/controversies in articles pertaining to global warming and climate change. If interested, please get in touch via my talkpage or email me Encyclopaedia21 (talk) 18:24, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Pflatau! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 1,095 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

A tag has been placed on Category:Tanguero and milonguero indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
