Request for help with Glossary of Belly Dance Terms[edit]

Hi! I saw that you had contributed to the article on Belly Dance. I have created an article “Glossary of Belly Dance Terms” because many of my dance students have been asking for it. I am new to Wikipedia and I was hoping that you would be able to help out by contributing or helping with formatting (I need that!). I also saw that you have an expertise in physiology and it would be great if you could add some of your knowledge and citations about the physiology of the movements. Thanks! MonicaDance (talk) 21:06, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, MonicaDance, for your interest in my work on Wikipedia. I do mainly anti-vandalism work, which means I edit on a lot of pages that I actually know very little about--just enough to recognize a malicious edit. My trick to formatting is to look at similar pages. For example, I took a look at several other "glossary" pages to see how they have done it. Like the Glossary of tennis terms seemed to be pretty representative. They use some special code that would help format your article. To see the code just get into the "edit this page" on Glossary of tennis terms or similar pages. Regards, Pinethicket (talk) 22:30, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

Michele Colucci[edit]

Hi! I recently wrote an article on this notable female entrepreneur, and I would appreciate if you would please consider contributing to the ongoing discussion about possible deletion of this article. Thank you. --Vindeniträden (talk) 21:52, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

A barnstar for you![edit]

Barnstar of Reversion Hires.png The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
You know what I find ironic? How cleaning up real-life vandalism is so tedious and unpleasant, yet cleaning up vandalism on Wikipedia is so much fun! Well, nobody gets paid to edit on Wikipedia, and I don't get volunteer hours from doing this, but we do get shiny barnstars! It feels great to walk around bragging about how awesome you are at keeping one of the planet's largest websites clean while everyone else was busy replacing articles with "poop". Many thanks. Pinethicket (talk) 10:41, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

I'm tearing my hair out about this article, which seems to be being written by editors who are looking for sources to back their pov. Take a look at this source[1] recently added. Aliens and Atlantis. The article seems to also imply that Cro-Magnon isn't the ancestor of virtually all European peoples. As for the Basques, take a look at [2] - not just no mention of Cro-Magnon but also "Although it cannot be stated with absolute certainty that the origin of the Basques is recent and that its gene pool is modeled solely by interplay between the isolation resulting from the linguistic barrier to panmictic matings and the effect of genetic drift, our analyses do support this hypothesis as the most plausible, bearing in mind the manifest contradiction of the Alu data presented herein and the hypotheses linking the origin of Basques with the North of Africa or the Caucasus region." Origin of the Basques needs input from this article also. Dougweller (talk) 11:41, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, forgot that the source you just improved says nothing about Cro-Magnon although the editor uses it to make a link with the Basques. It actually says "the Basque—a presumed remnant of the pre-Neolithic European population (33); both populations show similarly high frequencies of the M173 haplotype." And that is sourced to [3] which doesn't mention Cro-Magnon either. Dougweller (talk) 11:46, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
Those are all good points, Dougweller. I see the editor has added yet another ref. The first ref does seem to be a personal blog that goes off the deep end; perhaps it should be culled. Seems like heavily referenced points should be reserved for the article's body where they can be dealt with in detail, rather than in the lede. Regards, Pinethicket (talk) 12:14, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Please block IP[edit]

Hi Pinethicket. I see you also reverted an edit by IP All edits by this user are vandalism. I could understand that it could be one bad apple sharing an IP with good faith editors, but all the edits from this address are vandalism, so whether it is one single user or various, it is all vandalism. The user(s) has/ve been blocked a number of times before. Regards, Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 21:22, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Gabriel, the IP address is currently at a level 4 warning, and so they should be blocked as SOP after the next incident of vandalism--hopefully for a long, long time. Regards, Pinethicket (talk) 22:46, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Invitation join the new Physiology Wikiproject![edit]

Physiology gives us an understanding of how and why things in the field of medicine happen. Together, let us jumpstart the project and get it going. Our energy is all it needs.

Based on the long felt gap for categorization and improvization of WP:MED articles relating to the field of physiology, the new WikiProject Physiology has been created. WikiProject Physiology is still in its infancy and needs your help. On behalf of a group of editors striving to improve the quality of physiology articles here on Wikipedia, I would like to invite you to come on board and participate in the betterment of physiology related articles. Help us to jumpstart this WikiProject.

  • Feel free to leave us a message at any time on the WikiProkect Physiology talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
  • You can tag the talk pages of relevant articles with {{WikiProject Physiology|class=|importance=}} with your assessment of the article class and importance alongwith. Please note that WP:Physiology, WP:Physio, WP:Phy can be used interchangeably.
  • You will make a big difference to the quality of information by adding reliable sources. Sourcing physiology articles is essential and makes a big difference to the quality of articles. And, while you're at it, why not use a book to source information, which can source multiple articles at once!
  • We try and use a standard way of arranging the content in each article. That layout is here. These headings let us have a standard way of presenting the information in anatomical articles, indicate what information may have been forgotten, and save angst when trying to decide how to organise an article. That said, this might not suit every article. If in doubt, be bold!
  • Why not try and strive to create a good article! Physiology related articles are often small in scope, have available sources, and only a limited amount of research available that is readily presentable!
  • Your contributions to the WikiProject page, related categories and templates is also welcome.
  • To invite other editors to this WikiProject, copy and past this template (with the signature):
  • To welcome editors of physiology articles, copy and past this template (with the signature):
  • You can feel free to contact us on the WikiProkect Physiology talk page if you have any problems, or wish to join us. You can also put your suggestions there and discuss the scope of participation.

Hoping for your cooperation! DiptanshuTalk 12:23, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Cro Magnon[edit]

Can you please take a look at the Cro Magnon page, i think the editor Dougweller may also be using sleepers to try and manafacture an attempt to delete sourced information.--Kovkikz (talk) 12:18, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

There is a talk page discussion that may be applicable -- Talk:Cro-Magnon#Basques. I suggest you comment there or start another thread. Regards, Pinethicket (talk) 12:44, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, but he ignored that and added material sourced to something that is a good source but not for this article as it doesn't discuss the subject, something I pointed out on the talk page some time ago in detail. I don't understand the ocmment about sleepers but we have had trouble with socks on that page before. Dougweller (talk) 13:24, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
And now he is at 3RR. I despair. He won't discuss, he just edit wars and calls me names. Dougweller (talk) 13:27, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your help Pinethicket,I will look into that--Kovkikz (talk) 13:46, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Please do. You might take a look at some helpful info at Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Pinethicket (talk) 13:54, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

That great thanks--Kovkikz (talk) 13:57, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Is it possible to have sleeper R1b1b2a1a blocked--Kovkikz (talk) 14:44, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

Blocking is the very last resort to settle an editorial dispute, and rules have to be violated. I see nothing more that a difference in technical opinion in these edits. Plus, not being an administrator, I have no authority to intercede. I suggest you open a discussion on the article's talk page and leave a note on R1b1b2a1a's talk page requesting them to comment. Regards, Pinethicket (talk) 15:02, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

I think the user in question may be as mad as a bag of spiders so you may aswell be talking to the birds, but thanks for your help--Kovkikz (talk) 16:28, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

Excuse me? Writing on someone's talk page is vandalism? (talk) 12:30, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Yes, when it is malicious--like yours was. Pinethicket (talk) 12:37, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
