I maintain that the statement was out of place in the article, as it was about the Proxima, not about the Sun. As you can see, that the Sun is a star is mentioned in the first sentence of the Sun article. (And the statement was way too informal, as "a sun" - unlike "a star" - does not have a defined meaning in astronomy.) - Mike Rosoft (talk) 08:03, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Proxima Centauri 2. I consider your message to me as a bad joke. Please do not do this again. A troll posted an irresponsible message at the internet... His/her messages makes no difference. Please do not feed the trolls.Biophys (talk) 00:50, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I am second to Biophys here. There is absolutely no need to link every libel you have found on Internet against a Wikipedia user to the user webpage. In fact it is against WP:Civil, WP:NPA, WP:BLP. Please do no do it again. It is not helpful Alex Bakharev (talk) 01:23, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Proposed deletion of Does democracy require elite rule?[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Does democracy require elite rule?, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

This is a Point-of-view-laden essay, and does not comply with Wikipedia's neutrality standards. The topic is arranged that it is probable that this cannot ever be anything but an essay.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of TBH[edit]

A tag has been placed on TBH requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. Does democracy require elite rule?[edit]

Hi, Proxima Centauri 2. The article Does democracy require elite rule? might contain some useful information, but scholarly essays do not belong in an encyclopedia. I suggest that you combine some of the information with the article on Democracy. Jchthys (talk) 20:59, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Does democracy require elite rule? userfied[edit]

I userfied Does democracy require elite rule? to User talk:Proxima Centauri 2/Does democracy require elite rule?. This is not an encyclopedia article, and it's not a wikipedia essay either, so it doesn't belong here.

I userfied it to give you time to copy it to your local hard drive and possibly upload it to another web site.

After a couple of months it will probably be nominated for deletion again, this time under the miscellany for deletion procedures. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 01:31, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User:Proxima Centauri 2/Does democracy require elite rule?, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Proxima Centauri 2/Does democracy require elite rule? and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Proxima Centauri 2/Does democracy require elite rule? during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 01:40, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are unbelievably hypocritical. You claim Christianity is illogical and call your self an atheist.

yet you believe in magical space aliens.

That is the epitome of a hypocrit.

you dont believe in god because of lack of proof yet you believe in aliens. Do you see where im going with this?

Maybe you should rethink your belief system and stop watching tv/movie propaganda because thats where your "alien" worship comes from.

have fun guy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.54.16.46 (talk) 07:30, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for being so insulting. Perhaps you should read what I wrote on my userpage more carefully. I wrote, Space Aliens are possible but have not been found as yet. My userpage has said that since May 2008 and before. I don't worship aliens. I just think they are possible. Those Wikipedians who wrote the article, Extraterrestrial life think they are possible as well. The Aliens of the Flaming Red Sun are a work of fiction. It's likely that aliens like those aliens exist somewhere in an inflinite multiverse. It's very unlikely that they exist close to our earth. Notability of Invitation to ETI[edit]

A tag has been placed on Invitation to ETI requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. De728631 (talk) 17:12, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. What are you up to right now??--God'sGirl94 (talk) 13:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well today I modified The Main Page of Atheism Wiki to explain why I and others there don’t attack Liberal Christianity the way we attack the Bible Belt fundamentalism, for example. I started an article making fun of the Bible Belt on a different wiki where other contributers helped develop the article. I hope that satire will help people see they shouldn’t follow the example of the Bible Belt. I reviewed the article on Christian morality which I’ve been writing since last summer though other people helped me with it. I’m proud of that article and I feel it shows why not believing in God helps me to be a better person. I don’t only attack protestant fundamentalists, indeed I’ve also written material that’s critical of the Pope for example since I attack all areas where I feel religion is harmful. That’s just a few examples of what I’ve been doing. Do you want more? Proxima Centauri 2 (talk) 13:52, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to tell me more, I have open ears and an open heart!--God'sGirl94 (talk) 14:45, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well I also read quite a bit about Conservapedia and the dictator who runs it. Andrew Schlafly has his own personal agenda which seems to include issues going back very many years when, surprise, surprise Barack Obama attended Harvard with Schlafly. An army of right wing Christian fundamentalists put up with Schlafly’s overbearing manner and personal agenda because they feel it’s their Christian duty to be humble and frankly I feel sorry for them even though I disagree with them. Especially I feel sorry for them when one or other gets arbitrarily blocked over something or other. I haven’t written very much about that because RationalWiki already deals with it. Is your heart open to questioning whether your type of Christianity is reasonable or good for humanity? Proxima Centauri 2 (talk) 18:13, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I am open to that. Of course if I was to say that my Christianity was good for the humanity and reasonable, that shouldn't surprise. I imagine veryone believes that they believe what is right. Ask away!!--God'sGirl94 (talk) 15:05, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
