[edit] Monarch's Way
Hi, Ages ago you commented about the Monarch's Way article. I've walked some of it (N. Somerset) & thought about trying to improve it (along the lines of the South West Coast Path & would be happy to work with you on it - I've added some comments to the talk page.— Rod talk 22:05, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. I'm adding the village & places of interest to the Category:Monarch's Way but I don't think trying to sort the category geographically is going to be easy (or particularly useful). I think the description, in order, should be in the article. This is why I've tried to start a section on the talk page about the area I know in N Somerset. If you could do a similar description including villages. places of interest etc for Hampshire and Sussex, from Mottisfont to Shoreham-by-Sea that would be great (referencing & adding photos etc where possible). I am thinking of contacting the wikiprojects along the route to see if others could help with their local areas.
- Sorry to hear about your health limiting your walking & hope you are able to get out there (with GPS logger - which I've never tried) when you can.
- Probably best to continue discussions about the development of the article on the talk page as others can then contribute (I've asked some of those who worked with me on South West Coast Path if they can help as well).— Rod talk 12:14, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Port of London
Hi - the article I hope will include all, historic and modern, wharves and jetties and such. I was thinking along the lines of those which don't exist anymore or are no longer in use being in italics. Any changes/additions most welcome! David (talk) 17:15, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re: River Dun
Gah - I'd forgotten about moving the talk pages around - thanks for reminding me! I've moved the talk page to Talk:River Dun, Northern Ireland, since - other than the request for a split - everything on the page relates to that river, and I've deleted the redirects, so the Talk pages for River Dun; River Dun, Berkshire; and River Dun, Hampshire should all now be redlinks. Grutness...wha? 00:26, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] O Lord, Why Have You Forsaken Me?
"Blessed" by Simon and Garfunkel is about SoHo in London. [1], [2], [3], [4]. The guy who took it off the list mysteriously disappeared immediately after doing so. I'm Jack(Lumber) and I approve this message. 18:29, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Enfield
Hi. I have been disambiguating links to Enfield and I thank you for your comments on Talk:Enfield. They helped a lot. Disambiguation is particularly hard when there is a cluster of articles on places in close geographic proximity. In some cases, I must use Google Maps to figure out which is the correct article to link to. --Una Smith (talk) 20:32, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Digi-Comp I photo
Thanks for adding the photo of the original Digi-Comp I. Though the hardware was battered just a bit, I can see that one of your metal clips survived the years. I guess all Digi-Comp programmers had to improvise with rubber bands each time a clip broke from overclocking. Thanks again for resurrecting the fond memories. --Art Smart Chart/Heart 08:00, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Kingston A and B
I've been waiting for you to get to Kingston - glad to see you have made it - Regards Motmit (talk) 22:45, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thats a good picture but the copyright tag is a bit confusing. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the chimney coming down, and the site is now just a block of flats. Regards Motmit (talk) 23:05, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Power Stations in London
I did such navboxes for each of the nine regions of England. The London navbox includes power stations within boroughs defined as being in the region London. Coryton, Tilbury and West Thurrock are all in the borough of Thurrock which, according to its infobox, is in the region London. Rye House and Watford are included in the East of England navbox because they are in the county of Hertfordshire, which is entirely in the region East of England. Littlebrook, similarly, is in the borough of Dartford which, according to it's infobox, is in the region South East England, so it's gone onto the associated navbox. That's what I followed when I was doing the navboxes anyway.
All of the navboxes could do with expansion and livening up in the way I did with Template:North East Power Stations, which has an image and a list of firms that have owned any power stations in the region. But it's not really important. On the other hand, I'm really pleased that you've took on the entire London region of power stations and filled in all those red links. I wish there was someone in every region to do similarly. Fintan264 (talk) 12:57, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Claygate
Ah no. I recently saw several hundred {{Infobox rockunit}} being used so I made a tentative link, and when it came up blue... Rich Farmbrough, 15:45 19 May 2009 (UTC).

[edit] NowCommons: File:West Ham B Power Station.jpg
File:West Ham B Power Station.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:West Ham B Power Station.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:West Ham B Power Station.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 15:11, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Fawley picture
There's nothing wrong with your image, infact as a photo it's better because of the lighting, colour and composition. I just thought that the image I have switched to is clearer and displays a lot more of the station than any of the other images currently in the commons category. Also, landscape photos work better in the infobox than portrait ones, especially in stub/start class articles such as Fawley. If you feel your image is better suited for the top of the article, I have no problem with you reinstating it, however I think it may be best to crop the image further to make it landscape orientated. [edit] Geography of Somerset
Over a year ago you commented at Talk:Geology of Somerset that some of the article should be moved to Geography of Somerset, which was created yesterday, and there seems to be a comment that it is not needed because the info is in Geology of Somerset. Would you care to contribute tto the editing or the debate?— Rod talk 21:49, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
[edit] David Napier (marine engineer)
Hi, I see you started the David Napier article. I have some new facts that could improve it now, but I do not wish to get involved in editing. If you wish, I could give you the new facts for you to include. Are you interested? 213.114.146.142 (talk) 11:45, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
- I'm wary as someone with a similar IP address to yours (213.114.147.221) was messing up the article yesterday. If you have any genuine info with references that I can check I can add it. However I would encourage you to add it yourself. Pterre (talk) 14:55, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Pterre! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 7 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 206 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

[edit] Meonstoke
Hi. I have expanded the article on Meonstoke. However, as I am new to this game, I thought I’d contact people who have contributed to the article as it now stands before I change it. My proposed version is on my user talk page. If you are interested, I’d welcome any comment, changes, suggestions. Thanks Gramorak (talk) gramorak 11:56, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Lea Valley
Hi Pterre. Thanks for your contributions to the above article. Well done.(Northmetpit (talk) 16:29, 21 February 2011 (UTC)).
- Hi there, thanks - I hope some others will add to this - it needs to be distinctive from the River Lea article. I have to remember to add a section about the geological history. Pterre (talk) 19:46, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:25, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Parade, Edmonton
Hello! I'm writing an article about Kate Marsden in Russian Wikipedia and I'm quite confused with her place of birth. It's stated as Parade, Edmonton here; but what the heck is that Parade? I cannot find it on maps. Should be a street or an area, probably. Maybe you can help me to discover the place of her birth? Also, I've found a Marsden Road in Lower Edmonton and I wonder if it's name is related with Kate Marsden or her family... --Zooh (talk) 18:14, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Edward, from the 1861 Census I think this is a parade (row of shops etc with flats above) in Silver Street, Edmonton, London N.18. The census pages before the Mardens show houses up to 19 (odd), Silver Street (south side), and the pages after show Tanners End, which is around where Tanners End Lane N.18 is. I'm afraid I don't live in Edmonton any more, but from Google Streetview I don't think the Parade is still there. Hope this helps. Pterre (talk) 20:23, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
