Wikimania in Atlanta![edit]

Wikimania 2008 at Tech.jpg

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 08:14, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Wikimania 2008/Conference of the Americas[edit]

Hello, As you may or may not know, Alexandria, Egypt was selected to host Wikimania 2008 [1]. So as to prevent the hard work of the many Wikimedians involved in the Atlanta bid from going to waste, we have decided to host a conference for the Americas. This is in no way an attempt to compete with Wikimania or make a statement against Wikimania.

As one of the people signed up to help with the Wikimania Atlanta bid, we hope you will join us at the Wikimedia Conference of the Americas. We will be having a meeting tonight in IRC tonight (Oct 15) at 9:30PM in #cota-atlanta on irc.freenode.org to discuss the conference. For more information about IRC see [2].

For more information about the Wikimedia Conference of the Americas see http://www.cota-atlanta.org and our wiki http://www.cota-atlanta.org/wiki.

If you do not wish to receive further notices about the COTA please remove your name from our notify list. --Cspurrier 20:58, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Operating system-level virtualization: table needs expanding to include kvm, xen, etc[edit]

Hi, I have noticed you wanted to expand the Operating system-level virtualization#Implementations table to include Xen, KVM, etc. This probably means the article itself doesn't describe the OS-level virtualization very clear -- because neither Xen nor KVM are using this technology. So I have reverted your edit there, if you feel it's wrong let's discuss it. --K001 (talk) 22:31, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Good point. I should have checked the existing discussion page or read the article more carefully. PuerExMachina (talk) 02:52, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Windows Vista Embedded[edit]

I noticed that you removed my deletion nomination for Windows Vista Embedded and told me to google it. I've done that, and I don't see anything that shows that Windows Vista Embedded exists. I think the authoritative references are Microsoft's Windows Embedded Products page and this press release, Microsoft Charts Its Road Map for Windows Embedded Business. I think the confusion arose because there is both Windows XP Embedded (a componentized version of XP Professional) and Windows XP for Embedded Systems (essentially full XP). People assumed Microsoft would release a componentized version of Vista and call it Windows Vista Embedded, but so far they have not. Instead they only released Windows Vista for Embedded Systems (essentially full Vista). To make this discussion more confusing, Microsoft just renamed both Windows XP for Embedded Systems and Windows Vista for Embedded Systems to Windows Embedded Enterprise. I mentioned all this on talk:Windows Vista Embedded when I made the edit. Once you've reviewed the two links to Microsoft above, could you please revert your edit? PuerExMachina (talk) 01:25, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I am well aware of the confusion of naming, and am working on articles now to make this mess clearer. As you can see on my talk page, have had a recent discussion with User:Soumyasch as to what to do. Windows Vista Embedded will likely end up being redirected to Windows Vista editions in the near future, since at this point, "Vista Embedded" only refers to two specialized editions of Vista targeted at the embedded device market, and is not a separate release of Windows. Thanks. -/- Warren 01:49, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Evening[edit]

......"A Biblical Definition" is a "Theological" Argument and Definition by Definition…You should be more careful when correcting things that are obviously outside of your depth... I don't understand what you are trying to say, nor do I understand your apparent hostility. If we need to discuss what belongs in Evening, let's do it on the article's talk page. PuerExMachina (talk) 21:00, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

what is so difficult to understand?! Wikepedia is a encylclopedia....

Fair use rationale for File:Emorywheel.jpg[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Emorywheel.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 05:45, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Mastering Perl.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Mastering Perl.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Nomination of Baobab (software) for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Baobab (software) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Baobab (software) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. ΣΑΠΦ (Sapph)Talk 15:58, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Baobab (software)[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Baobab (software) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of Mastering Perl[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Mastering Perl has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable book

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 18:18, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
