Lua version done

I have completed the Lua-module Module:Sports table and tested it on the Lua test page, everything seems to work fine (it automatically only shows the letter codes that are use in alphabetical order in the footer, for the letters next to the team it takes the order that is given as input). Of course feel free to check it over and see whether there is anything missing. I would suggest the following course of action:

  1. I will write an extensive documentation, so people can implement this module themselves easily. I would like to ask you after I finish the documentation to carefully proofread it.
  2. Upgrade the module status to Alpha.
  3. Implement this on Wikipedia for a limited number of tables to see how it is going.
  4. Bring it with examples etc to WT:FOOTY for comments and additional input.
  5. Help people with implementing it and extend the number of examples.
  6. After input round on FOOTY, upgrade status to Beta.
  7. Form consensus on WT:FOOTY to depreciate the old multi-template format in favour of the Lua implementation.
  8. If consensus: Roll out this format more widely and put note on old templates that those are depreciated by WP:FOOTY and superseded by the module (with a link to the Module).

How do you feel about this action plan? For step 3, I would suggest testing it on the Dutch football tables for the current season (as I have watchlisted all them anyway and can spot problems) and an additional group stage of something, maybe 2015 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying round? CRwikiCA talk 16:36, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

@CRwikiCA: Already done!? That is great news. When I have the time I will take my sandbox and really try and test it all, trying to "break"/"destroy" the module to see how solid it is and also of I find anything that needs fixing. I am still a bit unsure about some parts, for example looking at {{2014–15 UEFA Champions League Group A}} and how it is used on 2014–15 UEFA Champions League, where the template consists of both table and fixtures and how to implement that, I guess you can call the module inside template and have fixtures as currently done. But the table will be wider with the qr-column and the template may be harder to update.
About the action plan it seems very reasonable, perhaps go to footy before step3, implementing on limited number of tables because resistance at U-17 may occur but looking at the text at alpha, it does not seem necessary so I think it could work anyway. Not exactly sure with what you mean "helping people implementing it", should we say "please create a table as test" and help them doing it? But it sounds like a really good plan. I like it.
As a side note, should this perhaps spread to other projects as well on wikipedia? For example we have same sorts of tables on 2014–15 Champions Hockey League. These tables with borders are well established on wikipedia, but we will see what footy says. QED237 (talk) 20:52, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
It's done now, let me know how your testing ends up. I started a documentation page, so take some inspiration from there as well. I think the module can be part of the template with fixtures as well. The table will be a little wider, but I don't think that's really a problem.
Helping people would more be stating to let me/us know if they run into trouble implementing it, so we can troubleshoot potential problem.
It can be spread to other projects on Wikipedia, but let's get it going at FOOTY first. For ice-hockey we might need an overtime column as well, so we would need to think whether we want a master "sports table" module, so there would not be any forks going. CRwikiCA talk 23:17, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
I have an idea how to generalize the table, we would probably need to move the module to Module:Sports table or Module:Sport table or something, which of these too do you prefer? CRwikiCA talk 13:44, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
@CRwikiCA: If I choose it would be Sports with an s, but I am not a genious when it comes to the english language. I am interested in hearing your idea because there are a lot of sports and many different tables out there on wikipedia so a lot needs to be considered. Are you thinking about a parameter for "sport" (example sport=football) and the table gets different depending on sport or are you thinking it would be possible to modify the columns when calling the module? And I am not sure if we need wider consensus probably we do) to implement such module. A consensus over all sports project would be hard but great. It is up to you if you want to try or give it some time at footy first. QED237 (talk) 13:58, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
My idea is to have the position, team and results columns (and their working) called from the main module and then have a sub-module called to create the inner columns (and their headers) (which is Pld/W/D/L/GF/GA/GD/Pts in the football case. I think it is best to move it now, so all the footy tables will have the right format and don't have to be moved again. We can also try to create an ice hockey version then, but leave it at that for now, unless other wikiprojects would request these tables as well. If we have the infrastructure in place right from the start, it would save time down the road. CRwikiCA talk 15:10, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
@CRwikiCA: That sounds very reasonable, go ahead to do it if you feel like it. As long as it wont get harder to update I have no problems with it. QED237 (talk) 15:18, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
@CRwikiCA: I dont edit hockey that much even if I follow it carefully (live in a hockey city), mainly because stats change every day as there are matches every day and I dont want to put time on updating stats all the time. But looking at for example 2013–14 NHL season, 2013–14 SHL season and 2014–15 SHL season the tables needs updating. As a note I dont see any reason to sort the tables as they currently seem to do. 2014 IIHF World Championship seem to have better tables, but I dont think the new format would be bad. The question would be if making several NHL-tables as in 2013–14 NHL season or one template with the grey line between them. NHL has some complicated qualification rules with all divisions. QED237 (talk) 15:28, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
Let's get the framework in place first and then we can try implementing it for some of the hockey articles. It's probably best at this point to keep focusing on the football tables though. I don't see a reason to sort tables either. CRwikiCA talk 16:01, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
@CRwikiCA: Yes you are completely right. QED237 (talk) 16:08, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

I think all comments on WT:FOOTY have been addressed now, or am I missing something? CRwikiCA talk 16:26, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

@CRwikiCA: I cant see anything that has been missed. I think it all has been corrected. QED237 (talk) 16:50, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

You have reverted my edits, in-order to edit them by your self... you have almost changed nothing, and pity that you think you know what you are doing... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arni777 (talkcontribs) 17:31, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Gave you answer at your talkpage. QED237 (talk) 18:11, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

the reason i have even mentioned it to you, is because, you could have just edit and change the time as you said, instead you have reverted the whole editing and edited it from the beginning from some reason... unsigned comment added by Arni777 (talkcontribs) 22:00, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Okay, but I did not edit from beginning again I just undid my revert. QED237 (talk) 20:23, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi there QED, (former) ALWAYS LEARNING here,

please mediate in the run-in I have incurred in this player with MESSIRULEZ, I believe an edit war may be "on the go" if someone does not provide a third opinion. I fixed redirects in pic captions, I fixed storyline (the other user told, in storyline, where it is not needed, ALL the honours the player won - I thought that was why we had the honours section for). I may have exaggerated in the summaries, I have already apologized to the other user for it.

Please compare both versions, if you feel his is better I will give up of course. Thank you, happy editing --84.90.219.128 (talk) 01:33, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

  • Was I rude in this request for mediation? I don't think I was. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:52, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
No, you were not, I just looked and it seemed complicated so I thought I would return later but then forgot. I am not sure who is right and i really dont have the time right now. Sorry. Take it to ANI or footy if you think it is needed. QED237 (talk) 23:58, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip, but I am tired of taking stuff to those places and see people never take my side (sometimes I do not even receive a reply). Maybe it's me that have been doing things wrong from a WP point of view, could be (and I am not being sarcastic, honestly), but that's the case whenever I present a report. I don't want to be treated like a baby and be humoured all the time, but it's tough when your suggestions are never accepted, is it not?

By the way, after the apologies, messaged Mr. Messirulez again offering some compromise between his edits and mine, received ZERO feedback. As always, thank you for your kindness and attention. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 00:17, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Mr. MR has replied, and kindly so (probably more kindly than I would have deserved, even though I apologized), situation solved. Keep it up there --84.90.219.128 (talk) 05:54, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Hey QED, I have a little trouble that I'd like you to adjudicate. There is a user who insists on changing everything around on the Napoli article for some unknown reason. He is engaging in sockpuppetry (how he thinks I won't notice is beyond me) but he is making what I consider to be vandalous changes, including changing things so as to go against the MOS. I don't have time to keep reverting his pointless edits, so please end this situation. Italia2006 (talk) 13:28, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

I will taqke look at article, other than that I cant do much since I am not an admin. QED237 (talk) 23:46, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Mike Tindall

I told you before, from past news articles that clearly said about Mike Tindall retiring from professional rugby, which means he is no longer on contract as a professional player since he left Gloucester Rugby. Minchinhampton RFC, based in Gloucestershire is an amateur rugby club, which means anyone can join as a player at all ages with no contracts made and no pay as well. @NikeCage68: I dont remember that and you still must use edit summary and explain what you do. QED237 (talk) 23:47, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Football Question

Hello there, I see you are a member of the Wiki Project Football so I was hoping you could help me with something if you can, on articles about footballers, does an appearance count only if the player is in the starting XI, or can an appearance be added if they have come of the bench as a substitute?, any help would be great thanks Zafiraman (talk) 06:23, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

My contribution reverted by you

Hi. Before undoing my contribution have you read the recently published doc named "UEFA Access List 2015/18 with explanations" (ref. IP 84.211.132.249

Hey Qed, hope all is well! Noticed that you had to rollback this IP address, 84.211.132.249, on Lukas Podolski's page for strange, unreasoned deletions/edits. I have had to do the same thing with this user on Atso Uchida and Ricardo Rodriguez's page. And those were just articles I have seen in the past two days. That user's contributions page goes back longer than this and I can only assume many of the edits are more of the same. I don't like blocking users, but this person seems to be vandalizing a lot of pages. Any steps we should take in blocking the address? Best, Rupert1904 (talk) 02:09, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Question again

(If I am annoying you with question please let me know).

I wanted to know about who can warn a user about their unconstructive, vandalizing edits amongst anything else not welcome or not allowed on Wikipedia , can any user warn them or do you have to have specific rights to warn them any help appreciated Zafiraman (talk) 03:29, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Removal of Edits

Why do you keep removing edits that are making the page more detailed, particularly in the 2004-05 Chelsea F.C. season. I have even added sources for this information such as the results for the 2004-05 Football League Cup, 2004-05 FA Cup and the 2004-05 UEFA Champions League. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jazza p 95 (talkcontribs)

@Jazza p 95: I am a bit busy now so I will make a full response soon but there are several issues. But for example you removed text without explanation, unsourced man of the match, insterted starting 11 against consensus and more. QED237 (talk) 21:44, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Lua-module

I converted Module:Sports table from a single file of code to performing some style-specific functions in a sub-module. I will test the workings of it by creating a W-OTW-OTL-L version in a separate style and after that update the documentation. The W-OTW-OTL-L version could then be used for ice hockey games. I tested the module for some of it's current uses and everything seemed fine. If you spot any error, then let me know. I also upgraded the development status to beta on the module, because it seems to be maturing pretty nicely. CRwikiCA talk 19:33, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

It was even easier than I expected to update the style in the new format. It is located at Module:Sports table/WL OT and an example of its usage can be found on 2014 European Korfball Championship. I might not get to write proper documentation for a few days though. CRwikiCA talk 19:57, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
@CRwikiCA: Okay great. It looks awesome, I love it. I will take it to wikiproject icehockey after it has been finally approved at footy and it has been implemented on all major european leagues. (Was planning to go through everyone after final footy consensus). QED237 (talk) 22:28, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Consensus seems to be forming quite nicely for the major parts, there seems to be some points left with wording usage though at this point. People also made a worthwhile comment about potentially including fixture lists in this template. I do think consensus is there at this point to start implementing it for league tables though. CRwikiCA talk 15:14, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
@CRwikiCA: Hi, that sounds great. I have kept myself away from that discussion a bit (except inclusion of year) on purpose to not affect others, but from what I have read I agree, it seems as if consensus is there so I may start when I have the time. About the fixture list I am torn, it is a standings table template but it might be worth considering since the fixtures are involved in some tournaments. QED237 (talk) 16:38, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

I quickly wrote up a module to create a fixtures table that is MOS-compliant at Module:Sports results, I formatted it such that it can be called from other modules and I intend to extend Module:Sports table to be able to use it (although without repeating the teams in the left column). I haven't had time to write documentation yet, but you can see some examples in my sandbox User:CRwikiCA/LuaTest#Results tests. I don't know yet when I will have time to implement it within the modules, but I don't foresee it taking ages to implement. CRwikiCA talk 21:42, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

Why did you revert me for "edit warring" (3 reverts) and you didn't revert MYS77 (3 reverts)? From Wikipedia:Edit warring "A revert means undoing the actions of other editors. The 3RR says an editor must not perform more than three reverts". SLBedit (talk) 14:54, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

I tried

Hey Qed, how are you?

I tried to discuss with SLB. I said him that P'DATA with or without spaces are the same, but he didn't want to give up. He invaded my talk page, restoring some contents from AL (who strictly asked me to delete our chats just after the end of them) while I did nothing of this. But, I'm tired of this discussions, mate. I just want to work in peace here, but it seems like the problems come after me!

Have a great Sunday, MYS77 14:56, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

And you keep acting as a victim... I was the first to discuss it. You should have understood my edit summaries. I didn't "invade" your talk page, talk pages exist to be used, to talk, to discuss things. "restoring some contents from AL" You deleted an active discussion and then you did a cleanup to so I couldn't reply to you. I'm tired of harrassment. You interrupted my editing on Wikipedia with reverts. No, you create the problems.
And just to let this clear: I agree with the page's full protection for some time. It would be great to leave it in peace for some days. Cheers, MYS77 14:58, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

  • Sorry for leaving a message here, but please, I tried to talk with him again and the only answer I got was two reverts. I'll not speak anymore, I'll leave this as it be, if he wants to add this damn spaces he can do this. Thanks for your help. MYS77 15:50, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

Is is not wrong, it has been discussed before (I think it is visible at article talkpage). There is a slight difference between sources beause UEFA are very slow in updating and they do not add bonus points immediately, which other sources do. We use reliable Kassiesa instead that updates faster and hands out bouns points directly when teams qualify for different stages.QED237 (talk) 19:02, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
I believe the bonus points is the current difference. QED237 (talk) 19:04, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

so you have added the bonus points for the team's that guaranteed qualification to the next round ? (5 points for each team)

Yes, you are right our source has already added those bonus points. You can see it in the team ranking were uefa has not given any points but for Kassiesa (our source) has extra points for Real Madrid, Barcleona, Bayern, PSG and dortmund (but not chelsea) and so on. Recent deaths

On the page regarding recent deaths, some of the links are in red which I know means the page does not exist what would you say be the best solution, to remove the link brackets or find information on the person or animal who has recently died and then create an article containing that information any thoughts would help thanks friend Zafiraman (talk) 20:23, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

@Zafiraman: I would first try and find information if they are notable or not (if they should have a article). For example, notablility for a footballer, WP:NFOOTBALL is that he must have played in a fully proffessional league (listed at WP:FPL) or international match. General notability guideline can be read at WP:GNG and notability at WP:N. If person is notable I would create an article and make sure it is well sourced (look at other articles as example). You can also read Wikipedia:Starting an article as a good starting point. Happy editing. QED237 (talk) 20:37, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

Friendly International Matches

Hello there I have received a message from :@Arbero: about a message I left on their talk page about an edit at Wayne Rooney, I said that the edit was reverted because the player statistics for international matches were for competitve games only but I have been told that 'your revert was incorrect as friendlies are counted too as long as they are matches reCgonised by FIFA' so was I right to revert this edit or have I made a mistake, any help would be great Zafiraman Lets talk about it 01:55, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

I'm amazed that a user with your experience doesn't know that people find it more easy to just updated the info box instead of the career statistics section. Also people don't updated statistics when someone has been scoreless. Do you even watch the games or follow football? By the way, I did notice that I made a minor mistake in the adding the total part. Could you explain if I did something wrong, so that next time other users don't revert my edits. Hello. You did not describe the changes you made at 2015–16 UEFA Champions League, completely undoing my contribution. Please, explain yourself. You can also do it at Talk:2015–16 UEFA Champions League. Otherwise it will be accepted as vandal edit.Pahtakor (talk) 07:25, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

@Pahtakor: Hi, please do not threaten an experienced editor like that, WP:DONTTEMPLATETHEREGULARS. I am a very experienced editor and you reallly should Assume good faith. Regarding the edit I simply removed a table that has never been used before because it is not needed (information can be read in the text) and the wikitable added was really messy and hard to understand as well as the changes is not confirmed by UEFA. It says above accesslist it is temporary and we dont have to fill article with all that information. QED237 (talk) 12:10, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
@Qed237:Hi! Sorry for your feeling threatened, I talked only about my personal perception from your action, not about any sanctions on you. Anyway it would be better if you confirm the good faith by a brief description of an edit. Now I understand you and do respect your opinion. As to your remarks, the deleted table was introduced by me, since the UEFA's innovation with an unexampled entering ELTH into the CL creates a bunch of scenarios for teams movements in the access list. The information in the text is quite general and supplied by some separate examples in marginal cases. It does not cover all the cases by far. The table is capable to do it in a vivid manner. The average wiki reader cannot derive easily the specific teams movements from the sentences, especially in the cases where two types of changes are involved at the same time. So the table does it for him or her. I took into account your remarks and improved the table by simplifying its legend significantly. Now it is much easier to understand. By the way, UEFA says above the access list it is provisional, not because it is not final and requires confirmation, but because it is default and valid for the 2015-2018 cycle only (not forever). All the team movements are defined strictly according to the reference 3 of the article, that is the official UEFA's document. Still I am open for your future remarks. You are welcome.Pahtakor (talk) 23:08, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

If you have any source you can add the content but otherwise not. Wikipedia itself is not a reliable source and can not be used. QED237 (talk) 15:23, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

most pages of the players have individual titles, and has no references as you are asking, and early honors topic, has a reference where have these individual awards it, you should pay more attention — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peu82009 (talkcontribs) 13:06, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Reverting section of "2014-15 Newcastle season"

Why did you change my edit of this page back? At the time of editing, there was no way Newcastle could have finished higher or lower than 7th for week 15, the win was already confirmed, and we knew very well that it was at home. Please explain this to me, because it seems like there was no just cause for you to revert my edit. I base my edits on pages on facts and statistics, so I know 100% that I was right to change it (especially given that someone else has made the exact same edit and it has stood!) Thetradge (talk) 9 December 2014, 02:19 (UTC)

@Thetradge: I thought I explained myself in my edit summary but sorry if I was not clear enough. The timestamp was not updated, the stats you added was not correct as of 29 November because you left |u=29 November when you added stats after that. Also make sure that the update is according to source. About other edits I only revert incorrect edits I see I am not on wiki every minute. QED237 (talk) 12:34, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Admin Question

Hello there, I am currently editing WP:Requests for Adminship, one of the questions says What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?, I do not fully understand by what that means can you help? Thank You Zafiraman Lets talk about it 23:16, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

@Zafiraman: Hi, I am a bit suprised about this, you are a new editor and already try to be admin? I have been here 1,5 years and I have not even come close to trying. Adminship is very rare and not handed out easy. Well it is not up to me to decide, but I would beieve you need a lot more experience. About your question it is hard to explain, it is as clear as it says. What kind of work are you doing on wikipedia and why are you doing them? Are you helping people on talkpages and different boards? Are you creating articles? Reverting vandalism? or what is your main field of work? I guess that is what they mean. QED237 (talk) 23:29, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Signature

May I ask how you got your signature? I have to keep editing the date and time to get mine Zafiraman Lets talk about it 23:41, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

@Zafiraman: Hi, I just read and followed WP:CUSTOMSIG and edited my signature in "preferences" for my account. Date and time comes automatically when signing with four tildes (only three tildes is without date) and should not be included in signature. Hope that helps, otherwise feel free to ask again and I will see if I can help you better. QED237 (talk) 23:49, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
@Qed237: In the preferences, where the signature is what do I type into the box to get the signature I have now? Zafiraman Lets talk about it 23:57, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
@Zafiraman: In the preferences you write how you want your signature to look (name and talkpage link and sometimes contribs), QED237 (talk) 00:11, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

Interesting facts about Messi

Hi! Could you please let me know why do You consider the sources I referred insufficient. For my opinion it's useful for readers to have some interesting facts about the football star. I did not put the information to article again but would like to discuss the possibilities to do it with some adequate verifications. Thanks!

Not everything is notabl and it has to be clear in sources. QED237 (talk) 17:07, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

Buttons

You've heard of HTML buttons right?, How are they created on wikipedia? Thanks Zafiraman Lets talk about it 23:43, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

@Zafiraman: I am not sure exactly what buttons you talk about, sorry. Do you have an example? May I ask what it is for? Why do you need that? QED237 (talk) 01:00, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
@Qed237: An html button like the one in Wikipedia's Help Page how are those created Thanks Zafiraman Lets talk about it 14:40, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
@Zafiraman: Okay, I dont know those are made. QED237 (talk) 16:13, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
@Qed237: They are created by typing inputbox in between a < and a > writing that the type equals search, the type creates the button for you Zafiraman Lets talk about it 23:33, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
@Zafiraman: Yes, I know that, but that is mainly used for searchboxes and not only the button related to it, and I still dont know how you have use for that? What is it for? QED237 (talk) 23:42, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

Stack or unstack

Dear Qed237, recently you reverted my edit on 2014–15 Paris Saint-Germain F.C. season citing that I should not stack the bottom matchbox, but then moments latter you re-added the exact same content. Is there some rule saying you cannot stack the bottom matchbox? Why was the content re-added anyways? An explanation would be very much appreciated thank you.Inter&anthro (talk) 23:49, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi, When pressing "undo" on myself to reinstate the good content I simply forgot to remove stack so that was I mistake of mine, but an other editor removed it almost immediately after. The reason is that stack is used to hide bottom bar when putting templates on eachother (to avoid double bar) and when there are no match below it is not needed to remove extra line. This can be read in template documentation. I can give some examples
1.One box (without stack)
53 Septober 2084 323 Foo FC Netherlands 1–1 France Test FC New City, Underground
20:45 Player 159' [ Report] Stadium: Arena
Attendance: 450,430

20:45 Player 159' [ Report] Stadium: Arena
Attendance: 450,430

3.Two boxes (without stack, see double line?)
53 Septober 2084 323 Foo FC Netherlands 1–1 France Test FC New City, Underground

4.Two boxes (with stack on first and without on bottom, double line is missing?)

It is pretty obvious alternatives 1 and 4 should be used (and per template documentation) just by looking at them. No need to remove bottom line when there is no team below it is only to remove double line as shown above. QED237 (talk) 00:22, 11 December 2014 (UTC)
Oh okay I understand now. Thanks a lot for the explanation.Inter&anthro (talk) 01:05, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

...and all the others. Just saying that reverting is when edits are vandalism. I'm just trying to get used to these (new and awesome) templates, there's no need to revert everything and then put it back when the only thing you do is change 'completed' into 'complete'. Be polite, thanks! --Pelotastalk|contribs 22:19, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

@Pelotas:. Hi, sorry if I offended you. I am a bit lazy today so instead of going to talkpage everytime and write messages I made a quick undo before restoring the article and in that way you were informed without me having to leave you a message. Sorry about that, as I said I meant no harm I was just lazy. If you are also talkiing about me reverting fungus-editor he has not responded to a single talkpage message and that is why I know started to revert him and he will soon be blocked for disruptive editing. English Leagues

I know you have done a lot of the converting in England already, but I also know it's the country with the most to do. If there is anything you want me to take over in order to save you some time, let me know. Equineducklings (talk) 02:25, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

@Equineducklings: Hi. Thank you for offering to help it is appreciated. I have converted all men's league until level 6, all men's cups, all womens league (only top two exists on wikipedia) and I started on the womens cup but got some things to take care of in real life so had to wait with that for a while. I am almost done with England so there is not that much you can do, if you dont want to go down even more in English football league system#The system (good page to overview the leagues and click to correct pages with tables). If you want you can do level 7 and 8 (connected to eachother), but I was planning on saying it was done after level 6 (league system ends at level 4 then it is called non-league from 5 and onwards). If you do level 7 and 8 (need to do both, they are on same pages), that would be 9 more tables so maybe other nations are more important first. QED237 (talk) 12:02, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
Okay. When I did France I realized how much less work that was than England, so I thought I would ask. I will look at moving on to another country since that makes more sense. Some have had their level 1 league done but nothing below. I will look around to see what makes the most sense. Equineducklings (talk) 16:58, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
I hope it's okay that I did the documentation for Conference Premier. I noticed it while I was doing something else and took care of it in hopes it would let you move on to something else. Of course, feel free to make sure I didn't mess up or miss something. Equineducklings (talk) 03:14, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
@Equineducklings: That was great. Thank you! QED237 (talk) 12:15, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

Semi Protection

I've noticed that some User Pages belonging to Administrators are semi protected is this because of vandalism or because they are administrators? I fully understand what semi protection is and why it is in effect on an article but is it the same reason a user page is semi protected too? Zafiraman Lets talk about it 10:33, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @Zafiraman: Its because of vandalism, my User Page is semi protected to. Avono (talk) 10:49, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
As said by Avono, pages are not protected only for being Administrators (or others), there has to be some sort of vandalism to protect pages. QED237 (talk) 10:51, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

2014-15 PL

Coutrois has started 6 matches that have ended with 0 goals conceded, the confusion arises from the fact that he was subbed off injured in one of those games. However this still counts as a clean sheet.

What's wrong with the rounds table? It makes the page more interesting and it provides insight into the progression of teams throughout the league season. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Titykaka (talkcontribs)

@Titykaka: I did not know there was an issue with the clean sheets, but you have to remember that on wikipedia we rely on reliable source so we should not show anything in article that is not in sources and in many sources goalkepper has to have played the whole game for it to be counted as a clean sheet. We follow source. What I meant reverting you was that it said "as of 15 December" when you added info for matches after that date.
About the "position by round" table there is consensus (agreement) not to use it since England has no official rounds. Matches gets moved around to fit in teams schedule, when there are cup-matches and also poståponed matches (for exapmple due to heavy snow) so it can easily be that one team has played three matches more than an other team so how to you show that in rounds table? Also I believe it was completely unsourced and positions where your own reasearch.
I have some links you can read about earlier discussions.
  1. Talk:2011–12 Premier League#Positions by round revisited (yes, again!)
  2. Talk:2013–14 Premier League#Decisions that apply to this page from previous seasons pages (mentioned)
If you need more info I can try find it, I know there is consensus that since there are no rounds in England such table should not be used. QED237 (talk) 12:19, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

@Cjh1990: Hi, as I said in edit summary no timestamp was updated. After your edit it said "updated 15 December" and they had not gone to semi finals then, until 17 December. You must also update the dates so people now when it has been updated. QED237 (talk) 18:03, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

Reverting changes to mats hummels and luiz gustavo

hi QED, i apologize for the disruptive change you think i may have made but please note i'm only trying to help improve the page, for instance when you reverted my change on gustavo i was simply making the link for 'bundesliga' easily assessible and the appearances on mats hummells were in fact correct, i even updated the 'pc' to show this.

as for removing the references part of the mats hummells page i fully understand.

thanks. Thedorigi (talk) 19:50, 20 December 2014 (UTC)thedorigi — Preceding unsigned comment added by thedorigi (talkcontribs)

About Gustavo I removed that link per WP:OVERLINK we should only link once in same section and a bundesliga link already exist, we should avoid blue ocean of links if they are not needed. For Hummels you made several edits in a row and it was impossible to restore the sources without reverting all edits. We should never leave anything without a good reliable source for it. Roger Milford

Roger Milford was not a FIFA referee in his refereeing days. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.9.82.248 (talkcontribs)

Do you have any source? QED237 (talk) 00:57, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
The source for that quote says "former FIFA referee" and we follow reliable sources. QED237 (talk) 01:00, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

Check David Elleray's autobiography. He commented on him being one of the few non-FIFA referees to referee the FA Cup Final. Milford only became a Football League referee at around 40 years old in the early 80s. He was I think the oldest referee on the Premier League when he retired at 53 in 1994 when extensions over the age of 48 were common until the age limit was axed in recent years.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.9.82.248 (talkcontribs)

Hi, that is not me. I have only had this account and I will only use this account. QED237 (talk) 13:50, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
@Zafiraman: I have a minor note regarding your signature, if that is okay? To some people it might seem to big (I have had to change mine in the past), you could read WP:SIGAPP. The signatures should not be modified in size (only appearance) and why mine looks bigger is due to the font, but I have not made it bigger. You may want to reduce the size, by removing the size parameter.QED237 (talk) 13:50, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Ok @Qed 237, Do you mean to just remove the size paramanters and the signature will be fine? Zafiraman Lets discuss it 13:56, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Yes that is what I should have done. You could always use size as 2 or 3 and hope no one finds out, but it is best to remove size parameter, that is what I would have done. Otherwise I like your signature (better than my signature, my signature stands out to much). QED237 (talk) 14:00, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
Done Thanks for the notice I'll stick with my current signature but with smaller size paramanter thanks Zafiraman Lets discuss it 14:08, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
