List of Australian Army Corps[edit]

Should the first item - redlinked, Corps of Staff Cadts - have an e, or is it intended to be "Cadts"?

I know that sometimes they do bizairre things so I won't assume it to be a typo - I'll ask first!Garrie 05:38, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Cheers... Thanks for picking that up  :) RP Bravo 05:46, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Biosecurity Australia[edit]

You've done a fair bit of work on this article - but in my opinion, the list of risk assessments is a bit misplaced. What would be much more encyclopedic, is something more like the executive summary in the annual report -

BA completed XXX risk assments in the 05/06 financial year and are attempting YYY risk assessments in 06/07 [here is the link]

Does a single branch of DAFFA deserve it's own article? There are whole government agencies that don't have them yet.

Also, with section headings, unless it is a proper noun (names etc) please, use upper case only for the first word (see WP:MSH).

You've certainly done some work in the last few weeks, keep it up! BTW, what unit are you in? Garrie 06:06, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I suppose the list would be more encyclopedic if it was turned into a paragraph... Took me ages to verify all those links though, forgive me for leaving someone else to undo my work.
Regarding whether the article's existence is justified, I created it after finding a red link to it on a WikiProject Australia to do list. I hadn't heard of it previously, thus my interest was sparked.

Well I guess if it's a redlink somewhere, someone thinks it worth mentioning! although to my mind it's gone past the level the encyclopedia is really all that interested in (as a stand-alone article). Not to the level of some of the school content that gets kicked around, but up there with creating team articles for sports leagues where the league itself barely qualifies.Garrie 06:19, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Energy policy of Australia[edit]

You deleted an important, attributed, paragraph from this fledgling article, and I would ask you to be more careful in the future. -- Johnfos 11:05, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Back again. I was reading your user page and see that you intend to "Fix Energy policy of Australia". Surely, you must understand the relevance of global warming and coal exports for Australia?

Australia is the highest emitter of greenhouse gases per capita in the developed world.[1] [2] It is one of the major exporters of coal, the burning of which creates CO2. It is also one of the countries most at risk from climate change according to the Stern report. This is partially because of the size of its agriculture sector and long coastline.

-- Johnfos 11:15, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

See discussion on the article's page, the majority of this article appeared to have been copied & pasted. This copyright violation was brought up by User:Golden Wattle. After some searching I have found the original content, copyrighted in 1998 - and will remove the copyright text in accordance with WP:CP. RP Bravo 01:19, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Listen to yourself... "The majority of this article appeared to have been..." You're using weasel words and generalisations. The piece of text I'm referring to is the one quoted above. And it is still in the article, so I guess you had no copyright problem with it. Please be big enough to admit that you made a mistake when you deleted it. And, more importantly, please be more careful in the future.

I'm concerned that you are intending to "fix" this article but, judging from comments made, have no idea about the importance of coal and climate change. -- Johnfos 02:14, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Self correction to remove "weasel words and generalisations": All content under State policies was copied and pasted from other sources so I removed it. As for the paragraph in question, as noted in my edit summary, I believe it would be more appropriate in a climate change article. However I respect your view and do not wish to be part of an editing war. As for your judgement (personal attack) on my knowledge of the importance of coal and climate change, please see my userboxes - I support nuclear energy for this reason. RP Bravo 02:29, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
PS. "fix Energy policy of Australia" was a note to myself on my userpage. It was to remind me to remove the significant copyright violations in the text of the article. You have no cause for concern. RP Bravo 02:42, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Enough said. Appreciate your response. -- Johnfos 03:06, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the comments, this is my first time editing the 'energy policy of australia' page, I am just about to go find journal references to back the information I have written. For the picture of the table which you believe is copyrighted, if i made a similar table in wiki but not print screened, will that be legitmiate? There is also no need to imply that one's english is bad, that was really hurtful and I am sorry I was not born here with proper english skills! Vanshizzle 10:14, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

RAAF useboxes[edit]

Thanks for info about WP:FUC#FUC9, somehow I missed that. I'm trying to use GPL etc. licensed images, this one is probably the only copyrighted one. We'll see when it will be removed ;) BTW - thanks for link to Wikipedia:Userboxes/Military - few days ago I looked on Wikipedia:Userboxes and I couldn't find this one. I'll add some of my useboxes soon. Regards, --Piotr Mikołajski 06:33, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:AustArmyColours.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:AustArmyColours.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 06:59, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Image:AustArmyBanner.jpg[edit]

I have tagged Image:AustArmyBanner.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. MER-C 06:59, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:F100 Alvaro De Bazan in Sydney.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:F100 Alvaro De Bazan in Sydney.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:47, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:RAEME.gif)[edit]

Nuvola apps important blue.svg Thanks for uploading Image:RAEME.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
