I have nominated Immigrant Modes of Production in the Florida Citrus Industry, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Immigrant Modes of Production in the Florida Citrus Industry. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Hello! I didn't mean to offend you but I nominated the article because it struck me as an unencyclopedic essay, with no sources. If you're doing this for a school project then it might be better for you to work in your user space (at User:Rcowherd/Project, for instance), that way it won't be housed inside the encyclopedia space itself. You can read more about creating proper articles for Wikipedia at WP:FIRST. Note that the deletion discussion will likely run about a week, so if your article can genuinely be made to comport with Wikipedia's styles, standards and sourcing methods within that time, then it shouldn't be deleted at the end of it. Thank you. — e. ripley\talk 22:24, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Caution about citing Wikipedia as a source; please stay and contribute![edit]

Hi Rcowherd,
I was going to make some suggestions on your assignment but then realised that, apart from advising to be very cautious about using Wikipedia as cited reference, anything else would have been be horribly unethical.
If Immigrant Modes of Production in the Florida Citrus Industry is deleted, please do not let that put you off the Wikipedia project. Please stay around, and please contribute! (The info from the reliable secondary sources that you use in your assignment, for example, may be very valuable to related Wikipedia articles.)

I completely agree. Just because your school essay may not comport with Wikipedia's practices and rules doesn't mean you shouldn't stick around and contribute beyond this. — e. ripley\talk 12:19, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks all[edit]

Being new to the wiki world I framed the entry as an essay and not as an encyclopedia entry. I've been reworking it to conform with wiki's specs and will repost soon.

thanks! -RC
